  1. WHAAAAAAT??

MDNA was enjoyed by pretty much everybody who attended! Everybody had a good time and people couldn't stop gushing on how actually good it was.. If anything general public and fans alike agreed it was far better than Sticky & Sweet and Madonna really put out a hell of a show!

Yes MDNA did not sell as much as her other albums but the way she performed the MDNA songs was so spectacular and original people were fixated. For example Girl Gone Wild was not even a hit but everybody loved how Madonna performed it and used it as the intro; Gang Bang was another show stopper!

I really would like to know what show you went to...

Also, the media was full of reports about this tour.. it seemed like she did this tour for the press as well..From flashing her nipple in Istanbul to her Pussy Riot support, gay activism in Russia, gun controversy in USA, etc.. The press loved to comment on the tour as well... It became one of the most successful tours in history! Second only to Madonna herself with Sticky & Sweet without mentioning she performed in more cities and longer with the Sticky & Sweet tour! Say Madonna actually performed in Asia and Australia as well.. she would have broken her own record without a shadow of a doubt!

The MDNA tour was surely a winning point from her part.. people denying that are NOT fans in my opinion.

I doubt you even went to the show judging from what you stated... Sorry

Ok, please don't get childish now with statements like "I doubt you went to the show" or labeling me as a "non-fan"... I am a huge fan and can form my own opinion of what I like and don't like by my all time favorite artist. And MDNA is my least favorite show by her, I am sorry (I mentioned this in the tour forum as well). BUT with that said, I still have some moments from it I liked, but overall, it is at the bottom for me.

I was at the second night in Toronto on the floor near the cat walk.... nobody was having fun around me, the sound was terrible in many parts (she sounded like a Chipette on 'Girl Gone Wild' and then a robot for the first section and songs like 'I'm Addicted' with the overuse of the vocoder), nobody was dancing or having any fun in my area, and a bunch of my friends did not enjoy, the ones outside the golden triangle that is. The vibe was terrible. I actually didn't mind her rendition of Like a Virgin but it didn't go down that well either.

I also remember hearing reports of her bitching that on many nights, a lot of people not moving or having fun, I chock it up to the show, I am sorry. And let's not forget about the numerous complaints about her simulating the blowing of people's heads off with guns, yeah, so feel good for so many to gush about. And a lot of people complained about the lack of old songs. Come on, surely you heard about mixed feelings on the show.

But with this all said, this is from my personal experience and assessments. I don't mean to say that NOBODY enjoyed it at all in the whole wide world (which is just as ridiculous as you saying EVERYONE enjoyed it).

And the MDNA tour itself is not necessarily the point of my post on here (we can take it to the tour section if you so please). All I was saying is that I would like her to give a bit more love on the new single/album to get more people into it before the show begins, if she wants to do another tour with a lot of focus on the album (and please get Stuart Price or somebody who knows how to do sound back for a live show, lol).

So yeah, you aren't going to label me, hunty, no more than I will label you. I'm not your bitch, don't hang your shit on me! :newspaper:

I wish she would take time to promote and release singles for like 9 months after the album is released then go on tour. Fuck this, release one single then go on tour and make some half arsed shit videos whilst on tour.

I wonder if it has crossed Madonna's or O$eary's mind that another rushed tour based heavily on a new album (i.e. rushed as in so soon after the album debut, not a rushed concept) is maybe going to do worse than a tour touted as "more of the hits".... I am sorry, you could sense in at the MDNA tour. Other than the lucky few in the golden triangle, there were a lot of people not having a good time at all at that show I was at. They just didn't know MDNA. Plus ticket revenues were lower. Yes, highest tour of the year, blah, blah, blah, you could tell it was less enjoyed and may hurt future tours.

Anyway, my point is, she could spend a bit more time on the album after it is released and then do a tour after a while, similar to the Reinvention setup. Heck, if she spends a bit more time promoting the album, more people can get to know it and then the show still can be focused on the album (Confessions Tour). Ok, I know times are different than even then, and she doesn't have to wait a year or anything, but just more time on the album as if you care, and GREAT videos. A great video doesn't have to break the bank like it used to.

This is all hyperbole of course, because nothing has been announced yet, but I feel like the immediate focusing on tour like last time can only strike lucky so long if they want the tour to be focused on a new album barely anyone knows.

I just hope first and foremost the album has really good solid music that people can get behind (especially a solid lead single), and she gets behind it too. So read up, O$eary!! lol

  3. Wasn't GMAYL also not higher in the UK (and potentially US) because there was a mixup with the single release vs. the song on the album for the pre-order? Or at least in America, didn't they F up the single release? Can't remember right now the exact details of what happened, but something was messed up.

Alls I know is if the song is good, a great video that also gathers buzz so people stream it, there are some promo tricks say for even radio, and there are no mess ups, the song could hit top ten in the US.

  4. I totally forgot about Madonna's and Lionel's exchange... so iconic the Internet nearly exploded!

And I completely agree with him on newer artists... everything happens so much faster these days that an artist can shoot up to the top and seem really, really massive and fall and be done in so much of a faster cycle than ever. And yes, the music is more throw away than ever.

Of course there have always been one hit wonders and stuff, but in say the 80's, if you made it huge, it usually was because of the music first, not necessarily celebrity. The celebrity came second and even if it did, time and patience meant really putting the effort into more great music, then more celebrity.

I am sorry, but writing a song with the word "baby" over and over and then forgettable follow ups means you will most likely be just that in the future, forgettable.

  5. "Call her directly to her mobile".... hahahaha, I wish. Although years ago my BF used to do telephone interviews for a magazine and had Guy Oseary on the line because my BF was interviewing the girl band Cleopatra who has just joined Maverick records... can you imagine having Guy on the line? haha: "Guy, stop being the receptionist at Maverick and tell me some deets!!!!"

Anyway, looking forward to hearing what these collaborators have come up with! Gonna be such great sounds, especially excited for the non-Diplo stuff though I am sure his will be interesting too....

  6. MDNA tour... still liked parts of it though....

In terms of seeing it live on the floor level, it was all so dark (lighting wise) I just couldn't get a good look at anything I felt. I thought the screens were going to blow me away in person from what I saw of footage before my show, but they didn't look much better than any other screen I've ever seen (and I am tired of the reliance on screens now by many artists).

The moving blocks were a really cool idea though and looked great. I like physical objects on stage to make things interesting. The mirrors too.

I liked the second half better than the first, it clicked more for me.

Madonna looked amazing but to be honest, the number one problem I had with the show was the sound... I don't know if it was just my night or what, but the sound was awful at times, especially in the first half. Her vocals, the music itself, I don't know what was going on. The DVD was also a mess, but it wasn't just for the 5.1 sound being messed up, her voice sounds really weird in that show.

I also saw her live in Reinvention (first level of the arena) and S&S (floor) and I had a blast at both, but Reinvention in her vocals she sounded amazing, S&S pretty good, but both shows were really, really fun.

I don't mind darker concepts, but MDNA was just a bad vibe and nobody in my area was enjoying it. It was a very odd night. I know she kept asking audiences on the tour why people weren't having fun or moving or dancing, I don't know what she expected, lol.

Anyway, it still had some amazing parts, especially "Love Spent" but that wasn't even performed on my night, lol.

I think the show was trying to be too much when all was said and done. I'll still throw on the DVD to select parts I love.

  7. I remember getting a VHS bootleg of the original/promo 93:99 (that included Erotica before it was replaced w/ Fever I believe).....back before the official was released. It was the first time I saw Erotica in it's full glory as my only previous views of it where highly edited and cut MTV versions they played during Madonnarama's, All Madonna Weekends, etc. OMG, it was like finding the Holy Grail. I would replay it over and over and over and over. Still one of her most stark, dark and striking videos to date. It's complete artistic perfection for one of her grittiest singles.

I had NO idea the original version of that collection was supposed to have "Erotica" on it, and there were bootlegs of it! Wow, that must have been quite the find for you.

I always wanted Madonna to do an X rated music video release at some point or another in her career, especially since her videos were getting banned. I know JML was a major smash as a video single, but I would have loved a follow up collection say on VHS/DVD, Madonna 'X' or "banned" or something along those lines with her sauciest material - another copy of JML (heck with even more nudity edited in), Erotica X rated version, more footage from the Sex book remember to that French music or even over her other songs (I love a version of "Waiting" I once saw to the same footage...

Now THAT's a video collection I would have bought!

Anyway, I was so happy that the music station in my country did a special on the weekend "Erotica" video was released and showed it, and I taped it and watched it over, and over and over and over, haha.

  8. The video reminds me of dream imagery.... the very sexy, dark and forbidden things a lot of people want to do but repress, yet those urges come out in dreams.

"Erotica" comes in at #1.5 on my favourite Madonna songs just after #1, "Justify My Love"... it is pretty much a tie between the two but I always have to place JML number one because that is the song that got me into Madonna and then took me on a ride through the whole "Erotica" era to follow (and continual obsession with her right up until today)

  9. I believe that even if she is hated for certain things in the present (lingo, sexuality, ageism), she will be looked back on by a larger number in a fond way than decried.

As she approaches certain things, some people feel threatened by her, but she almost always has the balls to stick with her principles and not shy away.

History has already shown this, from her initial use of overt sexuality from a female point of view, to statements on pregnancy/choice, religion, war, and ageism.

Once people have a chance to reflect on it, she is viewed more in a positive light than at the time it all goes down. Not by all of course, but by a larger percentage.

  10. Well I'm not losing my mind over it or anything, lol. This is a forum and the topic is at hand. There are many kinds of dramatic statements on here, some from people who get their panties in a knot over differing points of view it seems. I don't want to start a fight about it, but I do notice on this forum some name calling as soon people don't like other's point of view. I am new here, and have seen this quite a bit already. But whatever, different people have different approaches.

Anywayyyyy... Madonna rules and I'll ultimately accept her for 99% of what she does, even months or years of Instagram posts at this point. However, if want to question it along the way in a topic started on a forum, I will. :-)

  11. I think there is a confusion as to what we are all talking about here. The original post was about Madonna use of a certain word. I tried to point out the irony of people here having a problem with a woman using a word that is frequently used against her.

Is the problem with that or teenage speak?

Yeah I suppose there has been confusion in this thread between the use of it lately on 90% of her instagram/twitter/facebook posts, and her use of it since the beginning or overall.

I don't mind the use of it when it is felt like being said, but lately it is getting tired for some people I think (and the context with the other silly words and hashtags). And others immediately get their backs up.

It obviously is going to be a big presence on the new album which I don't know how to feel about until I hear about it I suppose. I myself can't stand the over-use of the hashtag and other "jargon du jour" so in that context, not exactly excited because it is not coming off as original in anyway IMO, but I'll wait to hear. "Rebel Heart" as a concept makes me a lot more excited.

I am sure it will turn off a lot of the general population, but since when has Madonna cared about that, lol?
