  1. Yessum... Thanks indeed....... I have always figured I truly backed the right horse when I was an 11 year old kid, and got sucked into the Madonna World, whilst pretty much ever other artist and contemporary of her`s, either died, lost their way musically or just gave up

    ,

Madonna has been ever present and has continued to influence from that day to this....... Not so many fans chose the right artist to back way back when, and share a life`s journey with. They all have to say "Remember when" but we as Madonna fans can say, "Whats next" because she stayed the path and those who invested in her at any time over 30 years ago are still getting their payback right here n now.. What an amazing thing to be able to do in life, when ya think back and can remember really pivotal moments in your own life, and always be able to connect every one of your own Era`s to a Madonna Album.....

Consistent, and delivering the goods relentlessly...... Kudos and praise and thanks for sure....!

  2. I was so excited for about 4 seconds, thinking "What.. Nooooooooo, what have I missed since Friday" I even went hunting for the song before I read past the first few lines... .....Ugggggggg! Meh.. and pffffffff...

The throne bit was too much.... Did the imagined interview start with Madonna on the Toilet with her smuggs round her ankles, with an unpleasant odour of Marcobiotic nutritional waste filling the lavvy...!

If this conversation ever actually occurred, its clear the interviewer was talking to an imposter, possibly an Eastern European drag queen in a "borrowed for the day" Pre fab on the Old Kent Road.....

When will we ever hear something concrete... I`ve been on Vallium since the beginning of June...... !

  3. Didn't particularly like any of the singles released from MDNA.. I woulda gone with a more edgy remixed version of Love Spent as the lead single, Masterpiece next, which woulda been perfect timing for the whole Ballad/Christmas market and then finished off with Im Addicted. But then im one of the oldest blokes on here, so maybe I like something less risky... PlusI can`t move quick enough these days to dance to something like GGW. Id be sweating like a pig in clingfilm and in need of medication just to get back offa the dance floor ;0)

  4. American Life is absolutely my favourite album.. Its the album I constantly go back to, and its always sounds fresh... Its such a cohesive album, and her voice has more clarity too.. Most of the musical arrangements are much simpler and less cluttered, so you can actually hear every word she says...Reminds me a lot of "Like a Prayer" album.... It has the same organic quality and the same emotional depth that's not always present on other albums..... AL LAP BS and ROL all seem to have this same vocal quality in tone, and in the timing in the delivery of the lyrics..

  5. I never stated I didn't`t like HC. I actually do like the greater extent of that album. You missed the point of my statements . Merely that so many on fan forums believe that just because you highlight a critique on something, that's its a bad thing. But, for all of the reasons I suggested previously regarding Madonna specifically, that critiquing from fans primarily comes from a personal need to express the personal impact that her music has on them, good, bad or indifferent.

Nothing wrong with a difference of opinion ..Just seems that so many interpret any kind of critique as an personal attack on their tastes, opinions and sensibilities..

  6. A true fan doesn't just accept everything an artist produces and loves it regardless. A true fan has their Artists back and will have an honest and forthright opinion of both praise, and esp critique on anything they deem by point of comparison to previous work to be flawed in some way.

Madonna has such hardcore, faithful and loyal fans collected over 30+ years that she has a tough ole job to keep everyone happy and to consistently produce material that lives up to all of those fans expectations........ She has set the bar so high, that the moment some fans think she`s dropped her game, even slightly, they want to express it. But surely its only because they care about the time they`ve invested in her and probably don`t want her turning into Cher (no shade, ish) after such an illustrious history.

Just goes to show how passionate Madonna fans are. They/We want her to stay unique and be forever a force that every other artist in the genre gauges themselves against. So opinions good n bad all serve a purpose in keeping Madonna relevant in a way no other artist has yet been able to sustain over such a consistently ground breaking career..

  7. Great Article. The underpinning of it is spot on. Whilst we all, probably outta loyalty to a great degree, try and embrace and love everything and all that Madonna does, he`s right about the last two albums.

She had been putting off recording "The R&B" infused album for years. Warner Brothers had been pushing for one to please the US market after the success of Music, but she was reluctant to go down the R&B path again, after as she quoted, "The torturous process" of Bedtime Stories. So HC turned into a producer driven project and Madonna got lost somewhere in the mix, as a please the Boardroom suits album.

MDNA, whilst having its moments of genius (Love spent - Masterpiece - I`m addicted.) was essentially a disappointing (for many) generic, lyrically banal album, that for the most part that did not lend itself to her core fans .or it seems bring new ones into the fold. Her voice has never sounded so thin, so over processed and so uninspired. It appears most tracks never evolved much beyond their demo phase. Those tracks meandered about but never actually took you anywhere. And the one track that did get a complete reworking (Gangbang) was an overlong mess that should have been left in its original version (Bang Bang Boom) Its clear that time and input was limited, so she took "Easy Street " and that is very evident to those of us who have been with Madonna right from 1982/83. MDNA is the only Madonna album that leaves nothing tangible when I listen to it, no emotive connection, with the exception of the 3 tracks mentioned. So, of course we want more this time around. It has never been more crucial for Madonna to produce a killer album. The industry will not be so forgiving with 3 under-performing albums in a row. That would fall way too far outside of Madonna`s comfort zone of always coming back and delivering the goods.....

We just want good music. Authentic Madonna, something to stimulate and excite. Its perfect timing for her to come back and show all of her "hit n miss" contemporary`s that she still has that untouchable ability to surprise, to evolve, and to reveal another layer of herself that pushes musical and emotional boundaries.

So, I have high expectations for this new Era. My faith is being restored by the process` and work ethic this time around. And it does feel as though we`re in for a big payoff. And if we don`t get it , then I`m going back to American Life. We all know, if we`re really honest, and whether you like that album or not, it was the last time she really did anything truly interesting.

PS. Am I the only one who is still craving another Madonna and Patrick Leonard album.?
