  1. Can we stop sayin' this, please?

4 minutes was HUGE, one of her most successful singles ever and it's also a great track, very catchy and perfect first single material, like it or not.

I had a feeling that comment wouldn't go over well.

I love 4 Minutes and it was a hit for her, this is true, but a lot of the reasoning is because of Justin. We have to be honest with ourselves here. If not for him that song probably wouldn't have done nearly as well.

Madonna needs a legitimate Madonna only hit, and the last time that happened was during Confessions.

So yes she got a top ten hit with 4 minutes and it sold well and she garnered a just barely top 10 hit with GMAYL but she can do better.

  2. You're right. He's massive on all those streaming services.

Minaj was a horrible choice. It is impossible for songs with rap in them to become huge #1 hits in non-English speaking countries. One of the reasons why even her safest markets in continental Europe flushed the song right away.

Avicii is huge everywhere. Even in the most difficult to penetrate markets in Latin America and Europe. If you combine his power with Madonna's one of a kind worldwide appeal, they can dominate the world. It's all about the song though.

The potential for hits is quite high with how popular Avicii's music is across the world and Madonna's name recognition.

Wake Me Up sold faster than Blurred Lines in the U.K., and he's massively successful on all streaming platforms.

Couple that with Madonna's ideas, melodies, and visuals then it has the potential to be massive. I think she very much knows what she's doing this time around.

  3. If anything, streaming does NOT help Madonna in my opinion. She is not very popular on streaming services like Spotify, Pandora, itunes radio, iheart radio etc..

In regards to youtube, it doesn't even count for 5% towards the hot100. You need record breaking US views to see a significant impact on the HOT100. And all have to be from different IPs. Refreshing the video over and over again does not count.

Madonna is a massive GLOBAL superstar. She needs a lead single the whole world can relate to. Not certain territories. That's always been the key to her success. It was almost impossible for any country other than the US and Canada to relate to a song and a video about US football. Especially non-English speaking countries. It's like expecting Americans and Canadians to relate to a song about soccer.

In Madonna's defense on Spotify, streaming trends to a younger audience and if she releases popular good music again, then she will improve there. She just hasn't released something great and successful since Confessions.

If Spotify was around when Confessions dropped, then Hung Up would have had massive play counts and the album itself.

But know who was the top streaming artist on Spotify last year and who currently has the top streamed album in the world? Avicii

I'm convinced that his enormous success through streaming is one of the many reasons Madonna has chosen to work with him (besides just wanting to). Wake Me Up has twice as many plays as Roar on spotify.

  4. Beyonce changed how things can be done?! Please, she didn't change shit. Anyone major act could've done that before her...they just didn't.

No, I disagree. The same could be said for any art form where someone has taken a major gamble in that case. That's equivalent to saying Goddard's Breathless didn't usher in French New Wave because a director could simply have done that style of filmmaking before him, or that Peter Jackson doesn't deserve credit for filming The Lord of the Rings trilogy back to back (thus starting that trend in filmmaking).

The fact that she and her team were able to film videos for an entire album and keep it secret is incredible. She did change how albums can be released and will be given credit for that in the long run. iTunes is already making plans to duplicate the "Beyoncé" model, so obviously she has changed things imao.

  5. Chillax! This forum is always insane, that's the fun of it. If you want to pop in to see news that's great but learn about how us loonies have fun first before you attack. We aren't the hourly CNN updates of Madonna.

That's fair and I wish there was a 24 news cycle of just Madonna.

Perez isn't always the most reliable source of news but it's probably likely that Madonna will just drop the single and not give a specified date. Beyoncé has changed how things can be done

  6. Having 8 posts or 10,000 posts is irrelevant to being a Madonna fan, which is what this is supposed to be all about. It's not a competition and anyone who is a fan should be welcome in a fan forum despite how "new" they might seem

I'm sorry that after almost two pages of jokes it becomes obnoxious, but it does to people who are looking for actual news. This doesn't make someone unreasonable or a buzzkill because they don't want to sort through two pages of insanity.

  7. It makes so much sense that if madonna injured herself working on the new album that she would admit it right?

No, she wouldn't. Maybe the injury was just a simple, had too many drinks in heels at a party mistake, but maybe it wasn't. Outside of the injury, it's still quite possible that the rumors of a collab between the two could be real.

Madonna would of course make up an excuse as opposed to ruining surprises though, that's obvious.

  8. I agree, there has to be more music albums than tours

Also, touring the world for every album makes her touring a bit less special in a sense she's overdoing it

I know it's where the money's at but music should be the base of it all

She's toured for every album since Music. She was going to tour in 99 for RoL, so I don't imagine her breaking that trend. Plus she's not touring every year like Lady Gaga etc. It will have been three years since MDNA next summer

  9. I know people have been posting about whether or not Madonna is the itunes exlusive we have all been hearing about, but I have this wild theory:

I feel most likely that it will be Adele, because she would slay an itunes exlcusive. The reason I bring it up though is because if there's any truth in the rumours of a collab between she and Madge, what if Madonna is featured on the album? If so then they might very well have filmed a video together already.

We still don't know exactly how Madonna injured herself before the Grammys, so maybe there's a deal between the two to be on each others records. Would get Madonna out musically before her own material is ready. Might not be an ounce of turth but it's an idea.
