  1. I think many Madonna fans interpret Gaga's actions as being malicious, when I really just think it's a product of immaturity and having too much fame too quickly. To this day I truly believe that BTW was inspired by EY but that she didn't realize HOW similar it was. And when she got called out, she got defensive, maybe a little embarrassed. And here's where she started to lose me. First the denials, then the claim that M and her camp gave her a blessing, then citing Whitney. These all seem like little white lies and ways to squirm her way out of it. All she had to do was be honest and say "Yes, I'm inspired by Madonna and this is my homage to that era of house music, including EY" and I think everyone would have moved on. But she stoked the fire by not handling it well.

i also can't help but be reminded of Mariah Carey in 1995, taking shots at Madonna's relevance because M made a snide comment about Mariah's music in Spin Magazine. Madonna started it, and Mariah was obviously insulted and hurt. Granted, Mariah wasn't ripping off Madonna, but the REACTION seems similar to me. Gaga making bitchy comments online is in response to Madonna calling her "reductive" and saying stuff like "Gaga who?" I'm not defending her, because I think her fans are disgusting and her silence is deafening, but just playing devil's advocate here and trying to find an explanation for her behavior. I don't think it's as

simple as many have made it seem. She was genuinely a fan/student of Madonna and made it clear from the beginning. It wasn't until she started getting attacked for it that she seemed to turn on M.

I give her more credit than you do. Your first paragraph makes her out to be a complete moron. She's not a moron and the problem for her is Madonna is not one either.

  2. And who knew Gaga would make Madonna seem authentic and non-calculating!

Edit: I am sorry for what I said about this quote earlier. I can only think of a couple reasons why any of her fans would think this.

  3. Why does it remind me of KaKa? :confused:/>

Because she basically amplifies everything Madonna has been about by putting it up in neon lights. Why do you think she makes so many "statements?"

Everything good that she says she stands for and is about is what Madonna is. The goal IMO is that Madonna will not be able to make one move without hearing this. Unless she of course she gives up being Madonna. How smart of them. The latest is artpop. We all know Madonna has never combined her true love of art with pop music.

Denise Van Outen channels Madonna for Red Nose Day

DENISE Van Outen has channelled Madonna's character from classic 80s film Desperately Seeking Susan for these snaps for Comic Relief.

The Strictly star donned a glitzy jacket, tonnes of jewellery, lace gloves and bright red lipstick for the photos.

Denise said: “I absolutely love all things 80s and jumped at the chance to recreate my favourite Madonna photo of all time. Going all out for the eighties is a brilliant way to raise money, so all those eighties fans who can’t wait to get out the lace gloves and leg warmers should get sponsored for Red Nose Day while they’re at it!”

In Desperately Seeking Susan, a bored suburban housewife, Roberta Glass (Rosanna Arquette) seeking adventure to her life, accidentally gets hit on the head, wakes up with amnesia, and is mistaken for a free-spirited New York City drifter named Susan (Madonna).

I think she looks great. I don't know who she is but I'm glad she chose to dress as Madonna in one her greatest looks. I love when people dress as Madonna, I think it's a huge compliment. I absolutely love her look from early to mid eighties.

As for Madonna's early look, she was wearing rubber bracelets and tying tights in her hair and looking fabulous doing it, a rare gift. Her look was polished when she became famous.

  5. Thank you Mensch...last time I brought this up on the LG thread I was told I was lying...even M fans make up excuses for this idiot girl!

I think the fact that she got that support from Madonna's fans made her too comfortable. She and her team were probaly like "fuck why not?" Let's take the song that personifies Madonna and use it to forget that song exists. So an award wasn't good enough she had to give the credit to someone else who just by coincidence happened to be Madonna's pop rival in the late eighties when Express Yourself was released. That was unnecessary, but thanks to the major support from the press, her peers, her

fans and Madonna fans she probaly thought no one would care. Why would you do that to someone you admire?

I could get past it if she was actually sorry for it but I doubt she is. I'm sure she regrets how it was received but I believe if people didn't say one word about Express Yourself she would have continued quite happily.

It is crystal clear what her motivations were. I would love to know how or why some Madonna fans don't see the whole picture. Is it ageism? Do they not really care if Madonna is insulted? I mean I understand the casual music fan not really paying attention but fans of Madonna who have been fans for years, I don't get it.

  6. didn't she say she didn't want people stepping on it?

brad pitt doesnt have one either as well as Jolie and Roberts

the stars are so randomly placed

marilyn monroe's is right outside mcdonald's on hollywood blvd

while shakira has hers on sunset blvd right outside the W Hotel, a nice decent area

Britney's is on highland near the Kodak Theatre

I hope they at least take care of the star's names. Make sure the pavement is clean. I always thought that is why Madonna doesn't want a star like you said. I don't remember if I heard her say that but it's natural for her that she would think about it in that way. Most would be like "yay a star" but wouldn't give a moments notice that people will be walking on their name. They just don't see the connection; it's not a big deal to them. Symbolically I don't think that would appeal to her.

  7. You know what I still leave a little room for the possibilty that she admired Madonna. What she has said and her actions are very different though. She surrounds herself with awful judgemental people and could have been influenced. I leave the tiniest room.

Here was another chance. She takes the time to write full page letters to Kelly Osbourne in public to criticise her but can't take the time to address something like what was written in that blog that has her name attached to it? So her argument is she can't control her fans but she feels she can control everyone else?

Madonna grew up feeling like an outsider, like no one understood her. She didn't feel like she fit in. She put herself on a pedestal and knew she could be an artist. In fact she fits the description of people who have been unfortunalty called little monsters. Madonna has been criticised and judged her entire career. You honestly think she doesn't understand what it feels like to be judged and told your not good enough? They wanted and still want to dismiss her but she keeps proving them wrong.

How does Lady Gaga know what it's like to not be accepted for who you are? From what I understand she grew up with friends. She seems to have parents who support her and even get involved. She has been praised by the press and her peers. Explain to me where exactly has this woman experienced rejection for who she is? Where does she get off telling people who truly have experienced rejection for who they are that she understands them? That's another thing that bothers me.

Somehow a woman who has been praised and most likely has always been told that she is good enough has convinced a bunch of people who feel like outsiders, who are criticised and bullied to attack a woman who feels like an outsider who has been criticised and bullied by judgemental people her entire career. How ironic.

They have actually got people who would have naturally turned to Madonna to turn on her and join in judging someone who worked very hard for what she has achieved.

  8. I think serious fans of an artist share some personality traits with that artist. Of course they are not exactly like them but they share some beliefs and thoughts. I'm a serious fan of Madonna, I share a lot of her beliefs, her sense of humour, I like what she has stood for in her music and socially. Like her I believe in working hard, staying true to yourself, I believe all people are equal and I am just as good as everyone else. I can be a little bitch sometimes but I am a good person. Like I said everyone is unique in their own personalty but I think a strong fan would also believe in the person as well and "get them."

Madonna fans are just as bad? No. I have never seen so much nonsense in the 30 years I have been a fan. They hate Madonna. I have never even disliked anyone. Never felt the need to have campaigns to try to undermine their success, never crossed my mind to trash them or their fans. When Whitney Housten came along I loved her and up till now I have liked and enjoyed many of Madonna's competitors. I know it bothered Madonna if her album or whatever was kept out of the number 1 spot. I know she is competitive but I never got the sense from her that she sulked and if people said anything about her I never felt from her that she was this poor victum. Believe me, in the 30 years that I have been a fan of Madonna and especially now, I have heard everything. No one in the history of celebrities could be more bullied than Madonna.

The just as bad excuse is BS. Every behaivor is equal to them. They can't tell the difference from saying something completely out there from humourous digs. They can wish horrible things on people but if another fan says LG is a fake then their "just as bad." Pretty much covers any wrongdoing. They have made passive aggressive bullying an art form. It's like being pissed off at the prom queen and going up to her and slapping her (metaphorically of course) and when she and friends start fighting back it's oh what are you threatened by huh? Any defense than she is the bully because little miss wants to be the prom queen without working towards it.

I am not saying that LG believes what was written in that blog, you would have to be completely delusional, but I do believe that her fans pick up on her energy and that is more powerful than what comes out of someone's mouth. Her serious fans know what she is about just like I feel I know what Madonna is about. The detached fans don't get it because they don't allow themselves to get emotionally involved.

  9. ^ Thank you, I know what it's like to be bullied. I was bullied terribly as a child and have been bullied in my adult life. Because I didn't join crowds and because I felt like some resented me. I didn't feel like I belonged anywhere or was wanted. I found it easier to be accepted if I ignored myself. I always looked up to Madonna and I was comforted by her growing up. I knew I could be myself in her eyes, and it didn't matter that she didn't know me. Just the knowledge that she encouraged for herself and others to be be accepted for who they are was enough for me to know that. Here was someone who would like me to be myself, whoever I am or want to be.

To put it bluntly, I have cherished that for a long time. I don't want anyone shitting all over that! Everyone had their artists that they liked and I had Madonna. I didn't hate other artists. I don't hate her but I hate the garbage. I'm sick of everything Madonna has ever cared about or inspired used in this way and trying to be stripped from her. These aren't stupid things like dresses and hairdos. This is Madonna's life. These are her thoughts and feelings and everything I had with Madonna that no one understood.

If Elton John or any other person out there has a problem with people loving Madonna then they can all fuck off and mind their business. Madonna has done more for me then any of them ever did.

  10. I have thought for some time now and I stand by it; the people that helped this woman become famous and it took a lot of them hate Madonna. I don't think she ran her career. I think she wanted to become famous and people who do not like Madonna did everything in their power to make that happen. I don't believe she ever looked up to Madonna or respected her in any way. It's as plain as day but even some of Madonna's fans refuse to see it so there is really nothing else to do but let them show themselves for who they are.

The saddest thing is though that they have inspired young impressionable people to hate. I don't think the percentage of her fans that have been taught to hate Madonna is as small as you think. Look at how many Madonna fans ignore what she and mostly people behind the scenes try to do to Madonna. They tried to humilate her and some of Madonna's fans still refuse to see that. Thank goodness for people finally, after hearing Born This Way saying okay really? Lol

Her fans are made to be the scapegoats but the people who wrote in that blog are sick to say what they did. I would hope that what was written is not felt by the majority of her fans. The ones who wrote it are the worst examples of her fans but they have been taught to dislike Madonna to various degrees.

I have no words for the insensitive and thoughtless blog that is completely ridiculous. The people who said it have serious problems but I keep saying it, that her fans were inspired to be that way. Some are just more healthy to begin with then others and wouldn't say something they know is not true.
