  1. I was not happy with the first tix I got - section g row 5. I mean I logged on the first second possible and that section is way back on the floor far left of the stage.

I tried again and got first row on the first level balcony. Those are the winners. But still, it would be nice to see M way up close just one time. How do people get those great floor tix??

  2. Gay rights more advanced than women? She's crazy.

on one hand I would agree. Women are marginalized at such an institutional level. It's so second nature to accept roles women are placed into.

I also think she was talking just about the U.S. But even worldwide, women are mutated for being women, killed for being women, denied education for being women, etc.

  3. Does anyone have any insight into how Madonna's rehearsal schedule works for promo appearances?

It seems like awfully quick for her to have learned new dance steps to a remix of Living for Love after doing two performances with slightly different choreography to a different version.

As we know, for her promo tours prior, every promo appearance featured either the same choreography, or very slight variations. (i.e. Hung Up). How long does it take her to hash out something like Living for Love at the Grammys? Was she hashing out and planning the promo performances during the latter part of the year? Or is it so quick that it's all planned, rehearsed and executed within a couple of weeks? Also, does she rehearse by herself away from the dancers, and then join in for final rehearsals at the last minute?

I've always wondered how this process works. Any insight appreciated.

  4. I think for today's kids, it's not that they aren't interested in Madonna because she's not good, it's more their form of rebellion.

They always hear how great Madonna was, how great Whitney and Michael, Elvis and the Beatles were, even Britney. Their generation doesn't have anyone like that. Interscope attempted to sell Gaga that way and it fizzled out. So since their generation can't have a true icon, they pretend their teenybopper artists are just as good, and try to tear down the legacies of those before. And I think plenty of today's Stars have great, enjoyable hits - but there is no true SUPERSTARS like the aforementioned ones. They're all too overly conscious of image and too studied about the way people did things before in order to leave that kind of mark.

I mean there is honestly no contemporary star in Madonna's league, and I think on some level the younger generations know that it's true and don't want it to be true so they ignore her accomplishments and her new stuff. But to be fair, I wasn't listening to any artists from the 60s in the 90s (except pink Floyd)

I'm just glad Madonna is giving us great new music, looks great for her age, puts out truly inspiring tours, and continues to grow and learn with a sense of humor. What more can we ask for as fans?

  5. Agree with you, but it's not like we all didn't see this coming, and so did Madonna. She ain't changing her fucking album for no one.

true. Don't think Madonnas not perfectly aware that she could get good reviews by putting her clothes on, singing a bunch of ballads and mid tempos with maybe a restrained dance number here or there and letting herself succumb to expectations about her age.

Also, songs like BIM, HW and SEX are supposed to be funny and tongue in cheek so who cares if they're disconnected from her life. Papa don't preach was disconnected from her life, - so what if these songs are too?

  6. I didn't realise NME had such poorly informed writers. Really astounded.Does he know that M practically invented this sub genre of folk-tronica back in the year 2000? He throws bile at her just for collaborating with a lot of different producers when he should be impressed at how she's fused it all together. Just lazy, tabloid journalism completely wrong for a self-styled serious music rag.

It's fair enough if he feels some of the youth-orientated tracks are not honest enough (personally I disagree on that) but then when she does a 'grown up' track like Devil Pray he dismisses it and calls it GaGa like. What? How ? Sack this piece of shit.

yea comparing it to Gagas oh so authentic track about... Wearing a burqa
  7. I did felt like something was wrong in the second or two before it happened. I don't know if I noticed her face, or the fumbling with the cape, but I didn't expect it to be that bad of a fall. To see it live was insane. I thought she was really hurt for a second - it seemed to go in slow mo. When she got up I thought she was crying for a second, and then I thought she was about to walk offstage. I felt more relieved once she started doing the choreography and singing, but I was too jostled to really pay much attention at that point. I was also fearful the press would post a bunch of ageist shit about it.

  8. At the end of the day, whose right is it to say how people should behave and what is 'age appropriate'? Is there the Age Appropriate Police? I would love Madonna to age (dis)gracefully! :)

Totally agreed. I also hate the implication that women cover up as they age as some sort of decision to "age gracefully". The truth is the majority of women start noticing they don't look as good as they used to, they are sagging in new places, there is new cellulite here or there, and they cover up because they don't want to be seen and judged. It's not because they've suddenly learned to become dignified or whatever stupid shit it's painted as. People say that to cover up a level of shame they have - it's a steadfast denial of the truth.

I guarantee if it was possible for a woman in her 50s to have the exact same body as in her 20s, she'd be living it up in whatever clothing she chose - 30 extra years won't make someone suddenly realize - "o hai, i should wear pants and a caftan bc I'm 50 now."

  9. It is RETARDED to leave some of the strongest songs, IMO, like Borrowed Time, Beautiful Scars, and even the title track, I think, as bonus tracks.

I actually like HW and SEX. But she really needs to strong reviews to help promote the album this time. Of course, they couldn't have known at the time that radio would completely abandon her this time.

OR -- they could have simply released all the songs on ONE album. ONE edition. I was excited initially, thinking, wow, they are really giving fans an incentive to buy the album this time, with all the songs.

Now I realize, they are trying to get fans to buy multiple editions, most likely.

How does nobody realize - that even though the Standard edition is called that, it really isn't the standard? The 19 track version is the album. The "standard" version is a truncated version that's an ill-advised attempt to gain more sales.

There's a reason the 19 track version was always the first advertised.
