White, rural America (who generally happen to be evangelical xenophobes) has been struggling and disappearing for decades, and Democrats have done next to nothing at least since I can remember to make these people feel included in their overall vision of America. Whether we like it or not they are part of America; a big part of America.
These people feel angry, frustrated and disenfranchised and are easily manipulated. That’s where Trump came in and took advantage of this. 4 years ago he was out there in middle, rural America speaking to these people in their language and it worked. Meanwhile, Democrats were campaigning in California and all the states that were OBVIOUSLY going to vote blue, with Hillary calling those people deplorables, only adding fuel to that fire and giving them a specific reason to vote in record numbers.
The reason why I think this type of over-simplification is dangerous is because the US is not a direct democracy, it’s an indirect democracy that was specifically designed and planned to make sure rural America isn’t underrepresented and all we need is another situation where just a handful of angry racists assholes vote enough and BOOM another fucking monster gets into office, even if there are millions more voting against.
I bring this up because I see time and time again that we’re all focusing on the obvious (they’re racist Karens, we know that), but we and Democrat leaders more importantly don’t seem to look at the root cause of all of this, and the ONLY reason Biden won this time is because Trump is a fucking piece of trash that should’ve never been president in the first place. That was enough to get people out there to vote. If Democrats don’t win the senate race in Georgia we’re FUCKED.
Well, my intention was not to over-simplify. I just didn't feel like writing that much at the time.
But while you make many good points, I don't see it as an over-simplification at all. At some point, it is what it is. Personally, I'm kind of over the whole 'everything Trump and Trumpism is the fault of the Dems/the left'. Sorry, but at some point, you have to own who and what you are. If we have to do it, so do they.
On a more personal note, at this point, considering everything that has gone down, and what is playing out with this virus as we speak...I just don't have any more fucks to give. I just don't. I'm just calling it as I see it.

And on top of all of that, Trump basically told us to go fuck ourselves and did NOTHING about the virus, from day one. He never cared, still doesn't care, and his abject failure and negligence has lead to hundreds of thousands of dead Americans (hundreds, to even thousands dying - a day). It never had to be like this.

Has anyone been to the morgue to visit loved ones who died during corona? they put them in BAGS. They wrote "COVID" on the bag next to his face. They covered his mouth with a mask! It makes me so angry!!
He died right before my birthday. I posted about this on my twitter this morning & didnt get one reply (cuz Im a M fan account, not a personal account, but STILL) so I got a little pissed seeing no one responded to what I said here.. But Im relieved to read your reply now. I cant take it personally. I shouldnt even be mad at any of you cuz I love you all. Sorry for being a little emotional about it..
all I can say is I hope no one here has to experience losing a loved one when your country can't handle a pandemic. it's COLD..
I never know quite what to say in moments like these, but I am so deeply sorry for your loss Nikki, particularly under these horrific circumstances. I wish you the very best and send you healing. We're here if you need to vent.
It's utterly terrifying to see things going down as they are in Europe and here in the US (where it's basically a shit-show regarding this virus). Having to see loved ones bury their loved ones without even being able to see them, touch them, etc...and the way they are handling the bodies... utterly terrifying, upsetting, and depressing. History will show that the lives of the innocent will be on the hands of the arrogant and ignorant.
