I had a dream about this freaking tour last night. I'm soooo excited to see her. The venue is in Phoenix so it's kinda whatever, but I'm just so excited that I'm finally getting to go. I must make sure to live till October 16th.

I don't think there will be any day-of-the-event surprises. If she's going to perform, they'll announce it with the next batch of performers when they have that information sometime soon.

Not that I expect her to, but it DOES say "the first performers announced" and not "the only performers announced." So it's still possible that she is. That didn't debunk anything.

I wish the deluxe ballads (being I Fucked Up and Best Friend) had been filtered through Orbit. They're missing a certain oomph that I feel he could have given them. They are undoubtedly my least favorites on MDNA, even though I do like them lyrically.

The standard edition is just heavenly to listen to from beginning to end. I love it more than I did when it first came out.

At the end of it all, if the album/single/tour flops, the album/single/tour flops. That's Madonna's problem, she's going to be the one who has to deal with the consequences. SHE'S losing money, not any of us. I do want her to do as well as she can and make a bajillion dollars, but if she doesn't want to whore herself on TV, I can't say I blame her. You've seen how sick Rihanna/Gaga/Adele/etc. get because of that, and mama has four kids she needs to raise. Besides, she delivered a quality album that I LOVE, has delivered quality videos that I LOVE, some of her best photoshoots EVER, amazing pop culture moments and I'm sure the tour (my first) is going to murder. That's ALL that matters to ME. Sure, that's selfish, but I can't say I really care.

One thing I think we forget is that the one thing Madonna has ALWAYS been MOST passionate about is executing her songs for the stage. She's always been a PERFORMER first and foremost so in a lot of ways focusing on the tour and perhaps even recording songs having a plan on how she's going to execute it on stage in mind during the process of making it is kind of her going back to basics in a lot of ways.
And Hipster let me fill u in on a little secret.....
All this talk about promo promo promo that she USED to do is just slightly exaggerated. As a long time fan (like over 20 years) I can tell you that seeing Madonna perform on talk shows, award shows etc was very very RARE and an event when it happened. People reference COADF as some era that had HUGE promo but from my perspective being in the US, it wasn't that great of promo for the album. When she went on Letterman the album wasn't even dropping for another month and HU had LONG been gone from the top 10 by the time she performed it on Grammy's and that is the only promo I remember. I know the EMA's were a huge deal but here in the US that barely was on the radar (unless you're a hardcore fan of course).
Yes, I've heard about the Confessions promo not being as much as it's always claimed to be. It would be cool if she did a little more like she did during that era, but it's not that big of a deal. In fact, she did a lot of interviews and a photoshoot for W.E. That may have affected her in terms of wanting to repeat that process for MDNA, but I just loved turning on the television everyday to see her talking about WHATEVER. Not to mention, that brought MANY pop culture moments, with the hydrangea "scandal", the Elton feud, and the "reductive" comments. With "molly", M.I.A.'s middle finger and the performance, the GGW and Truth or Dare "controversies", and the music itself, Madonna has been everywhere and I've enjoyed it. Who can complain?

You know, seeing as this is the first Madonna era I will experience from beginning to end, I would LOVE for her to overexpose herself with appearances, interviews, performances, and photoshoots. It would be great to see her just talking about the album, its inspirations, and the process behind it. It would be even more great to see all this translate into incredible sales of millions worldwide.
At the end of all, though, is that really all that important? Are sales defining for the quality of the album? I don't think so. She delivered a really good album this era, one that critics and fans have enjoyed immensely. It's the perfect mix of fun and personal and has been praised all around for that. I read many comments that say no promotion for the album is not caring for the art and she just wants the money from touring. How backwards is that?
Touring is a means of bringing her art to life, with visual and emotional interpretations for each song, new and old. Yes, tours make big bucks, but if Madonna were interested in just making a quick buck, she wouldn't go through the trouble of making as amazing tours as she does. You've seen the pictures of her bruises, heard the stories of the broken bones. She's putting A LOT of time and effort into this tour, sacrificing time with her loved ones in the process. She's sharing her art with the people who care most to invest interest. The fans. If that translates into a billion shipments in sales, cool. If not, then that should be totally cool too.

yes, the "rave" part
The part with Kanye and Pharell was the Pimp section. The rave was at the end and didn't feature any cameos.
Anyway, those Lil' Wayne pictures are great. I can't wait to see the performance for Revolver.

I wouldn't mind if he stayed on another tour. He and Madonna did a great job with DWT and CT, in terms of artistic appeal. Even their most recent endeavor S&S had many moments of brilliance, regardless of whether you liked the show as a whole or not. Considering the fact that Madonna is on a creative high (with MDNA and her videos), I imagine they could come up with something as great as the Confessions Tour or the Super Bowl performance. The Transgression theme is already new for her and it sounds promising.
