  1. No, actually I like and listen to a lot of dance and electro music. Not as much anymore as I don't go clubbing every weekend but I'm well aware of what's popular and current. For a mainstream artist she was ahead of everyone else in commissioning remixes of her work but like I said, the people she was using were hardly popular or getting radio plays. Her remixes was definitely not being played in the clubs I was going to.

Her current collaborators seem a bit more current/inspired though so it'll be interesting to hear the remixes for this album. (Other than Avicii who peaked like 2 years ago but by the looks of it his stuff has been re-worked by others anyway.)

I can definitely do without Tracy Young or any other "resident NYC club DJ" !

  2. I didn't say she hasn't released remixes since the early 90's. I implied that they sound like they are stuck in the early 90's because she's been getting the same people to remix her shit since then and none of them have developed their sound. They make tacky outdated gay nightclub remixes. These are not the people headlining music festivals around the world. These are not the people being talked/shared/listened to on social media. They are relics from another time who still refer to themselves as "DJ".

Stuart Price did some good remixes for Confessions and she had a few others that weren't bad, but in general her remixes aren't setting the clubs on fire.

  3. Her remixes and remixers are the worst. No one gives a shit about these people except the 40+ year old Madonna fans who are reminiscing about the late 80's/early 90's. Seriously Tracy Young? Peter Rauhofer? These people I only ever hear about in relation to Madonna.

(Not that Guetta was any better. And let's not forget she tapped Solveig for MDNA in 2012 when honestly he really wasn't that popular since the early 2000's.)

  4. Just as I posted my comment above I see Madonna addressed it herself:

"I would like to thank all my fans for recreating my album cover with the Rebel Heart ribbon on the faces of so many Great Hero's. It shows that you are also celebrating and in admiration of these great freedom fighters! When I repost these images i am saying YES! These people are all Rebel Hearts in one way or another from Martin Luther King to Jesus to Nelson Mandela to John Lennon. YES! Lets celebrate them! The world needs more people like them. I hope to one day accomplish. 1 100th of what these Rebel Hearts have accomplished. As I Said in a previous post "I walk in the footsteps of Giants" and i will continue to do so G*D willing. They are my guiding light. #rebelheart #livingforlove" -Madonna

  5. People are fuckheads.

Who the fuck gives a shit they are black. She's obviously pointing out that they were rebels and that they are people who she admires and who inspire her. Stupid cunts like this bitch (who has ALWAYS complained Madonna has "stolen" black culture her entire career) need to fuck off and stop bring race and faux outrage into everything. No one gives a fuck.

  6. I think the results of this poll are biased because we all know that LFL has already been chosen as the lead single.

Devil Prays, Ghosttown and Bitch, I'm Madonna are all considerably more popular on Spotify and iTunes.

I just think LFL is the wrong first single. If there are other songs that people think are "better" or that are connecting with more, surely they would be better to push at radio rather than trying to make a song happen that people just aren't interested in?

Eh what do I know anyway.

  7. Personally I think it's an inside job. Someone with access to all the demo's thought they could make a few bucks and sold them to collectors who've shared them around. I think this person got away with it with GMAYL and this time around thought they'd go for a bigger score.

I actually feel really bad for her and it's really starting to piss me off too so I can't imagine how pissed she must be. I hope they find who is responsible.

  8. Yeah she still gets mentioned, but I find it's not in a flattering light most of the time. It has now been 21 years since her one and only tour in Australia. She has skipped us on 5 (!!!) tours. Honestly I would LOVE if she came for a quick promo tour here. A small club gig like she has done in the US and EU would reverse all the damage from the last few years. Australia still loves her, she just needs to make an effort!!

  9. Yes but our radio stations are pathetic. They just play the same songs by the same young artists every hour. It is getting worse as well. Plus the fact that Madonna's management etc don't promote her at all here and have not done so since Hard Candy. Hopefully when Rebel Heart is released in Feb, her management will promote her record. That is what I am hoping. Considering Madonna was the biggest star here by a mile for such a long time, she is not forgotten by the general public and they would easily embrace her again fully. People did not even know that MDNA was released in Australia because there was no promotion at all and as she did not tour, only fans really knew much about it.

Yeah I agree, radio here is pretty terrible. I pretty much only listen to Triple J. I also try to avoid anything to do with The Voice/X Factor/Idol etc. I don't think she is forgotten here so much more as you say, she is not promoted here. Not only has she ignored us with touring but simple promotion by her has been non-existent. I doubt she really cares because if she did she obviously wouldn't have skipped us on so many tours. But I think it's definitely damaged her legacy here. The MDNA Tour fiasco seemed to be the final nail.

  10. Compared to the initial response the album received elsewhere, even in the US, I still think in Australia it was a fairly unremarkable performance. Whereas she had all 6 songs occupying the top 10's around the world, here only LFL briefly made the top 10 and as I said earlier none of them are even in the top 100 anymore. (Yes, I realise this is only a pre-order) It's not just this though, I don't think radio really respects her anymore. A new Madonna release used to be a big event, now they'll barely even play her on the radio. There seems to be so little mention of her anymore here.

  11. Realistically her fans are older and not really the kind of people to sit around requesting her music on radio. Seriously who the fuck has time for that? Outside the US though where charts are based on sales I think she has a pretty good chance at still getting a few hits. And I think album sales will continue to be steady for her. I don't think this is a bad thing really. Of course big hits would still be amazing but like many have said she really has nothing left to prove.

In regards to Australia though, I think there is definitely a backlash here since she's snubbed us for so many tours. Radio really don't give a shit about her anymore and I hear less and less about her unless they are making fun of her. Maybe some other Aussie members will disagree with me. Honestly unless she announces a tour here before Rebel Heart is released, I think she'll have a massive failure with this album. Just look at the itunes charts, none of the songs are even in the TOP 100 here and the album is at like 44. Radio really have no incentive to play her anymore because she continues to ignore us. This is sad because I think she is or at least was the most successful solo female artist in Australia and she has always done so well here.

  12. This song grabbed me immediately. I really liked the demo version, but the final album version is just amazing.

On a personal level, the lyrics and country vibe of the song could be a chapter of my life story. I've been sober for almost 6 years and everything she's talking about; saving your soul, substituting substances for getting closer to God, or the Light, or just numbing your senses... It's very close to home for me.

And the way she says 'whiskey' makes me melt. It's like being back in the Smoky Mountains in Kentucky where I was born and where my Dad still lives. She's got a definite Loretta Lynn vibe going on in some of the songs, but this one has a magically bluegrass/Nashville sensibility that makes it that much more genuine and honest. I can't wait to see this one LIVE!!!!

  13. Still my favorite. What a killer track.

Love her voice, love the bass, love the auto-tuned vocals in the background of the chorus and the "gasping/moaning".

Hoping there are more songs on the album in this style. Definitely hoping for an EPIC performance of this too!!

Is it just me or does anyone else get Dolly Parton vibes from this? Surprisingly I think this would've been a great collaboration for them!

  14. My second favorite after Devil Prays. Personally I would've chosen it for the 1st single.

I actually thought the lyrics sounded pretty lame when I read them, but they aren't so bad in the song.

    Love these parts:

Now you say it that you're sorry, I don't wanna know
Better face the fact you had to go

    and
You know you never really knew how much you loved me, till you lost me?
    Did you?
You know you never knew how much your selfish bullshit cost me?
    Well, fuck you
