nor can you use the single line "see my booty get down like UH" as an example for her not having any credibility.
Um...did I?
-
unlike credible lyrics such as
Love, love me do.
You know I love you,
I'll always be true,
So please, love me do.
Whoa, love me do.
Love, love me do.
You know I love you,
I'll always be true,
So please, love me do.
Whoa, love me do.
Someone to love,
Somebody new.
Someone to love,
Someone like you.
Love, love me do.
You know I love you,
I'll always be true,
So please, love me do.
Whoa, love me do.
Love, love me do.
You know I love you,
I'll always be true,
So please, love me do.
Whoa, love me do.
Yeah, love me do.
Whoa, oh, love me do
You do know that was one of the first songs Lennon-McCartney ever wrote, right? When they were 16 and 18...so you can't really hold it up as any kind of example.

Genius. Anyone who doesn't giggle at that just doesn't get it.
And this thread wouldn't be complete without a mention of "Push." The only excuse I can think of for that travesty is that she and Gwyneth were pitching ideas for a series of coffee mugs with motivational sayings to be sold on GOOP for Valentine's Day. Either that or she was possessed by Tony Robbins, briefly. Just fucking awful.
I'll concede that the lyrics are cheesy and ridiculous, but the beats and production are irresistible.
Push is amazing.

Also, while I would love for her to sing about serious themes, the sad truth is nowadays that doesn't sell. What sells is "Get my booty down" and "SEXY KILLA" type stuff... the kids just eat it up like fast food. Mainstream music has no soul anymore.
Which is why I really hope she'll do more albums like Music in the future. The album had a great blend of fun stuff like Amazing and Impressive Instant, but also had brilliant moments like Nobody's Perfect and Paradise (Not for Me). Music is hardly a song of thematic brilliance, but it's still great as a dance song and radio staple.
It's the best compromise between her lighter and more serious work.

so it´s aoakenfold´s fault? she doesn´t have anything to say about her own work?
anyway, I can´t understand why some people changed from "the best thing since..." to "pure shit" in only a years.
Still, I think she cares about charts, and she´s going to do some promo...
Her singing is fine. The melody is fine. The lyrics are fine.
The production is amateurish and dull. Oakenfold is the problem.
-
But it wasnt meant to be. After every big wave of success Madonna gets cocky and thinks she can take the audience wherever she wants (Erotica, AL). It's part of her charm.
Since COADF and HC have been successes, I wonder if her next album will be a similar "artistic" endeavor.
I kind of hope so.

It's all Oakenfold's fault. The production of Celebration is so tired and boring that he should be laughed out of his profession for calling it cutting-edge.
Mark Kamins could have made a track more fresh and modern.
-
I don't mind but I'd prefer it if she does a cover of an unknown song of his and made it her own. She crucified Imagine and taking another untouchable classic such as Billie Jean or Beat It wouldn't be a good idea.
It was great on the VT but that was plenty.

Your opinion...I think hers was better than the original.

I love how some loons are precious about what's beneath her and what's not.
I thought we all knew that absolutely nothing is beneath Madonna. In fact, that's part of why we love her.
EVERYTHING'S beneath her. That's part of why I love her.
-
then what about Star Academy that she did?
She can do what she likes. But it's good to note that the crowd there was worshipping her. I doubt she'd get half that appreciation if she deigned to appear on a crappy show like Idol/X
-
I fucking despise this PIECE OF SHIT show, but yes, she needs on there and Idol, sadly.
I agree. X Factor and Idol are so BENEATH her.

Where are these extended charts?
-
Epic. Except it's "songs that changed the world," and it looks like Give It 2 Me is being included...
-
I wish someone would go to WB and castrate them! GOSH! What's with all this mess! But still, I do believe this song will do very well despite of every CRAP they throw in our faces!

Still not available in Canada.
It needs to break the top 100 in US Itunes soon...once it's visible, it'll rise much more rapidly.

Voted for Like A Prayer as favorite song, with Oh Father in second place.
Just because Like A Prayer is such a versatile song, with so many different good versions/performances and Oh Father only works as a ballad.
-
Like A Prayer is the perfect album.
And it's the 20th anniversary of Cherish's single release.
Happy B-Day Cherish!
-
I want this song UNLEASHED on the world!!!
-
I used to think the line in Erotica was "I don't think you know what day it is; I don't think you've gone that way"
-
Yeah, I will admit that's quite stretching it. But of course, I don't think she looks 50 either.
38-42 IMO
-
She adds, "She's strong, healthy, and gorgeous. She looks like she's 18."

You did quote me...it's understandable that I thought that was directed at me.
But as it is, I always thought "see my booty get down like UH" was somewhat tongue-in-cheek.
