  1. I want to hear Frozen! Does it sound like the album version, rather than the acoustic version she did in Detroit? I would prefer it fuller with electronic beats or drums. I thought I read someone said it was with the whole band which sounds like it would be great.

Loved reading your review, Phineaspoe! So glad you had a chance to see her again!0

  2. Yeah but his album sold loads and was a commercial success. Sorry but Rebel Heart was not a hit album. Let's not delude ourselves here.

I'm surprised they haven't submitted anything for the Dance categories as she'd have a far stronger chance there than Pop and Record. Shows how delusional her team is.

I could be wrong about this but I thought I read that they somehow changed the rules for the dance category so that pop stars can't qualify only club djs/EDM producers. So she may not qualify for that. Does anyone else remember hearing that?

  3. Well he very much could be using her. I don't ever remember him going to any of the MDNA tour concerts or had she not forgiven him in 2012?

How could he be using her? He's a very successful actor and director not a no name person with no career and no money. Maybe they're not having a relationship with her, but is just enjoying the show like the rest of us. I would go to another show if I had the time and money to see another one.

People talk about her forgiving him, and I'm just against domestic violence as anyone else but no one for sure knows what happened between them. She never said he abused her physically so it's all rumors basically. So unless we know for sure what went on between them personally, I don't think we have the right to judge.

  4.

Considering Madonna uses the best musicians in the business I'm pretty sure her band are capable of playing a song :lmao:

It's not a matter of being able to play something. Electronic instrumentation sounds different from acoustic "live" instrumentation. If she wants the songs to sound like the album version she has to use some programming. Brian the drummer is featured on the cover of Modern Drummer. It's a great interview and he explains all of this. People should read it.

  5. Yes!

I don't mean this to be flip or rude, but I don't understand what you don't understand -- she's done exactly this sort of thing before. Just look at "Music" on DWT. "Music" is one of the biggest electropop hits of all time -- and she puts a percussion breakdown in the middle of it. And it's fucking phenomenal!

The current tour uses live percussion too. Brian the drummer has an acoustic drum kit and an electronic one. So she is using some live conventional instruments on this tour. But I thought people were saying she should eliminate any electronic programming and use all traditional instruments. DWT uses electronic programming as well combined with some live instrumentation. Music on the DWT still has electronic programmed mixed with the live percussion. She can incorporate some live instrumentation but she can't rely totally on that and eliminate all electronics and have the sound she wants.

  6. Were Amy and Sean in Vancouver just for the concert? It seems like a random show for them to attend unless I'm missing something!

Edit to add - I also realized this is the first time she hasn't posted pictures on her Instagram post show.

Most likely they are filming some type of movie or tv show there. A lot of major US movies and tv shows are filmed on location in Vancouver. Its nickname is Hollywood North!

  7. Of course it will sound different. Kind of the whole point.

But she doesn't want that. She wants to make electronic/dance sounding music. I'm sure she would use more of a regular band with real instruments if someday she made a different type of album that was less dance and electronic based.

  8. I still don't understand how you expect her to perform her electronic music from her albums on her tours using real instruments like guitar, bass, acoustic drums. It's going to sound totally different and not the sound she is going for. Electronic music and conventional instruments by their nature sound very different. It's going to sound totally different and while some think it sounds better that is not the sound she is going for.

  9. Yes, I was responding to Nikki's comment rather than the general topic. But aren't keyboards an instrument? What's the difference between playing an electronic keyboard and an acoustic piano? They both take skill. Why is one more real than the other?

  10. If Hillary does get the nomination anyone think she would tap Sanders to be VP? Who else is out there that you could see her picking?

    151013215526-bernie-sanders-democratic-d

I can't see her picking Bernie. He's too old, white and from the Northeast, just like her. it wouldn't be a balanced ticket. I see her picking a younger Hispanic guy from the South or West. I'm thinking Joaquin Castro, a congressman from Texas or his twin brother Julian who's the HUD secretary.

  11. I don't agree with the idea that there are "real" and "not real" instruments. Electronic music is as much a valid art form and takes as much talent to create as non-electronic music.

Computers don't write music by themselves. You still need someone to program that and create a good song.

But everyone seems to buy into this idea that any type of music created with electronics or computers is automatically bad and worse than music created with more traditional instruments such as guitars and acoustic drums.

A band like Nickelback uses all "real" instruments. Does that make their music more authentic and of higher quality than electronic artists?

  12. Hillary really rocked the debate last night. She came up as well informed, poised and even funny. The debate confirmed my opinion of Bernie. While I agree with his opinions, I don't think he has the leadership qualities to be President. He came off as strident, kind of grumpy and kind of disheveled in both appearance and presentation.

  13. I can't imagine going to see Madonna and not having it be a big spectacle. While it's obvious this tour is not as crazy with the dancing, it's still theatrical and her live vocals are on point to top it off. I know I would enjoy a more acoustic show but I will admit that I would miss the dancing. I think the RH tour is a great balance so hopefully we get another tour or two like this in the future.

I agree. Madonna has so many good uptempo danceable songs that it would be weird to have a show and not include those. Generally, for most artists, I think a show of all acoustic and ballads gets boring after awhile. You need the mix of different tempos. I wouldn't mind a more stripped down show with less dancers and effects, but I would still want some uptempo dance moments. I don't see her doing the totally stripped down show yet. She still has few more large scale theatrical tours left in her.

  14. So RH is not physically demanding? Bye.

But I doubt she'll ever do another show crazy cardio tour like S&S/MDNA. Do you remember how physically and mentally exhausted she was towards the end of the tours? Not again please

And it seems that a lot of fans didn't enjoy those all out cardio tours. I remember reading on various forums that some fans disliked the cardio thing. They said it was too much like an aerobics class. They cried for a more vocally driven tour and now they've got it!

  15. Once her LiveNation/Universal contract is up and she reaches 60 I think her entire career will take a different path.

I don't really see it that way. She'll always be Madonna. I think she will always be releasing albums and touring on a somewhat regular basis. I think she really does enjoy singing, songwriting and performing, not just because Live Nation is paying her a lot of money to do that, so I don't see her stepping away from that in any radical way. She's always said she loves pop music because you can reach a lot of people with it, so I don't see her recording some kind of bizarre alternative non-pop oriented music even though some people seem to think that's her secret desire.

  16. If Madonna were to read this thread I think she would be thinking....

"Fuckers. This tour is physically exhausting! You get your ass up there for 2 hours almost every night and try to keep up with me!"

Totally. This tour still has a lot of dancing. Some reviews led me to believe it would be all slower and her just standing around. But when I saw it I was actually surprised by how much dancing there was. Live A Virgin is an amazing dance routine.

If there's slightly less dancing on this tour, it's not because she physically can't, it's because it's a natural outgrowth of the type of album Rebel Heart is. It's not really a full on dance album, but has more slower and midtempo songs.

  17. The lack of bass player is something I noticed too. I think the band just embellishes the backing tapes. Unapologetic Bitch, for example, just sounds like someone stuck the CD on. Are the drums real drums or just those electronic pads that are popular nowadays?

The drummer Brian does use acoustic drums which I guess is what you mean by "real" drums.(The sound comes from you actually hitting it) But I think it is mixed in with some electronic drums as well. He has a very large drum kit. ) The drum pads are part of electronic drums which when you hit it sends an electronic current which sends a message to play a sample. But you are playing in real time so electronic drums are technically still "real drums", as opposed to a drum machine. Electronic drum kits have existed and been played since the early 80's so not what sure what you mean by "popular nowadays"!

He is actually on the cover of current Modern Drummer.

A lot of modern dance music doesn't use actual bass guitar anymore. Bass guitars are more and more kind of outdated except for rock music.

  18. If she toured like she used too for her normal 4months id say yes.

But her new deal with LiveNation sees her on the road for double that......80+ shows is massive, so no she won't do it again.

But I think she could still do a heavy dancing tour with more shows if she has more dates off in between. It's not how many shows in total you do, but if there's time in between to rest. But that would mean her tours would go on for a longer time, and she would have less time to do other things like direct movies.

I guess I'm not that bothered about having a lot of intense choreography. I guess I'm more of music than a dance focused person. I personally prefer hearing better vocals, than all out dancing on every song.

  19. Any chance of any changes to the setlist? Her drummer who I follow on Facebook posted something asking if anyone knew of a rehearsal room he could use. I don't know if that was for something he was doing with Madonna or some other project he's working on!

Someone in Minneapolis said they heard her rehearsing Frozen with the band. Is that a possibility?
