Truth or Dare did indeed overshare, but it was polished and a well produced product - revolutionary in many ways and raised important points.

As much as I live for her Instagram (when the camera is on her), almost everything she posts is disposable to some degree. No other popstar at her level would post LQ throwback pictures, cheap fan edits and family pictures/videos making up most of their feed.

Regarding sharing personal things, I agree - but has she ever shared anything noteworthy via Instagram? And if she did use Instagram to share profound things, would we really rather see it on an Instagram story instead of a sit-down interview?

But to clarify, I still live for her Instagram and this is by no means a personal attack on her. She can do whatever she wants. I just think people underestimate how much lacklustre social media etiquette is effecting her public image among the most important demographic.

What you're saying doesn't quite make sense to me because on the one hand you're saying her social media is disposable, and the other hand you're saying it's affecting her public image. Those can't both be true. If her posts are disposable and people forget about them quickly, how can it affect her image so much?

I think Instagram is a way to keep in touch with her on a daily basis when she is not giving interviews on a daily basis.

I actually think her Instagram makes her seem more relatable. She comes off as a regular mom and someone who could be your friend. One of the biggest criticisms of her through the years has always been she's a cold distant diva. I think her Instagram humanizes her.

  2. I also find the questions about how she stays fit or motherhood boring too, but she doesn't always get to dictate what questions she's asked. A lot of talk shows that reach a broader audience tend to ask those more human interest questions. There are magazines and shows that talk about the recording process tend to have a smaller audience unfortunately.

I personally absolutely love NPR. They have this show called Fresh Air where they do in depth interviews with various artists. I would love it if she was on there or on their news shows like Morning Edition or All Things Considered. They do really intelligent thought provoking interviews, but the trade off is they don't have as big a listenership as network television or commercial radio that ask the more boring questions.

  3. I find it a little odd that people complain about Madonna oversharing on social media. They seem to have forgotten all about Truth or Dare which was all about oversharing including her lying down in front of her mom's grave and simulating oral sex on a water bottle. It started the reality show trend. Compared to that her Instagram is tame. But for some reason, people get more upset if it's on their phone than on a movie screen.

Madonna has never been all that mysterious. She has shared a lot of personal things from her mother's death, her strained relationship with her father, and her brother's sexuality. That's why some of us connect with her.

She could never do a Beyoncé and be true to herself because a lot of personal stuff has already been shared. You can't take it back and rewrite history. It's already out there.

Love the Witchdonna idea but I want it with dark hair and NO black clothing...more on the mystical and surrealistic side. Like a darker version of Bedtime Story. The music would have lush strings, trip hop beats, dark synths, old strange instruments, while still being catchy and melodic. You rarely see dance music being done with unconventional instruments.

The lyrics could explore mortality, lost love, rebirth, etc.

Would love for the visuals to be inspired by female surrealists like Remedios Varo and Frida Kahlo. I want her to find some director that is completely outside of her comfort zone.

All of this and we're probably gonna get "Black Magic" ft Cardi B. produced by Diplo :lmao:

I like your ideas! I think that would be something different but still being true to herself. I don't think she should totally remove electronics and dance music, since those have always been at the heart of her art but incorporate them in a slightly different way.

  5. I feel people here have such unrealistic expectations for the commercial sucess of the album and are so obsessed with her having hits. I hope the album does well but you have to be realistic. Making a lot of celebrity non music related appearances doesn't appeal to me. I would like her to keep the focus more music related.

This is probably a minority opinion but I would like a smaller venue more intimate tour not an arena one. She could choose a few different cities and perform there multiple nights. That would be something truly different.

I really like the title Magic. I would like her to do a good witch or sorcerers theme. It sounds weird but I have always wanted her to do a Stevie Nicks like look.

You're misunderstanding what im saying. Of course they have access to her stuff but do you think the kids born during Confessions will actively looking for her past? No. She needs to take advantage of that. The Gaga generation will not be these new fans. I'll use me for example, i always knew of her but once i heard Music i became a super fan. I would look her shit up online and soak up all i could. Do you think the kids are doing that right now? No. And thats not to negate her recent music but at this point she needs to do more than preach to the choir.

It still seems to me you are saying her past is somehow a liability. People are never going to see her as a brand new artist. It's very hard for any older artist to get new younger fans who don't know about them or don't like them. To me a much better strategy would be to target fans who liked some of her music at some point in the past but for whatever reason drifted away or lost interest. Her past is an advantage not a liability.

Definately but it still would be totally genuine to who she is, like how we see her in her tour rehearsal with her glasses and notebook. And please please please act as if this is her debut. This coming generation that will be old enough to be into music will have no idea about her past which is a good thing and she can start from scratch. This is gonna be a stretch but do NOT just release music with promo. This year should really be a year to clean house. Sounds dumb but do things that interest her like maybe if there's a special on Netflix about a topic that interests her give her commentary. Do the mentor stuff. Maybe even do something for criterion for film. Then a year or two from then she will have a positive image. Fuck license her music for stuff. Wipe this slate clean. Make this generation who will not grow with Gaga or Britney being the current idol. Dare I even say do a few acting gigs. A guest spot for something on netflix.

The younger generation does know about her past because of YouTube and the Internet so she can't really start from stratch. It's all out there. She has nothing to be ashamed of in her past. She has done and said so many amazing things. You can never truly escape your past because all your prior life experiences shape the person you are.

  8. The thing with streaming is just because someone streams something doesn't mean they like it or are a big fan of the artist. A lot of times I stream something because I read about it or are curious about what an artist sounds like. I stream it and then decide I don't like it.  So that's why personally I don't agree with including streaming in the main charts. They should have a separate chart that just includes streaming.

Everyone here expects Guy or any manager to be some kind of magician. I think with a promotion plan you have to be practical and realistic for it to work. With an artist like Madonna any plan to increase streaming is going to have only a limited effect.

  9. Despite what a lot of people on this forum say, I think trying to increase streaming for an older artist like Madonna is a losing battle. What she really needs to do is think outside of the box and give people an incentive to buy the physical by including some extra bonus you can't get by streaming. For example. What if she wrote her autobiography and it had never before seen rare pictures and it was bundled with the new album? Something very unique like that is the only way to really increase her sales. Not the standard perform on some tv show. That isn't going to make a huge difference.

Don't people buy CDs in the USA from department stores ?

I know it is a dying industry but CDs are also sold here at supermarkets and even some petrol stations as well.

No, department stores are for clothes and makeup, things you have to try on to see if they fit or look good. That doesn't apply to cd's. Most people just order cd's from Amazon.

We have music stores here such as JB Hifi that sell CDs plus CDs are sold in major department stores. For a record company distributing records, Interscope was hopeless.

Most major record chains like Tower Records and HMV here went out of business long ago. A local chain called Kemp Mill Records closed their last store here last year. So the term major record store sounds very outdated to me. They barely exist!

The only department store I can think of that sells music is Target and they have a very small selection. Barnes and Noble sells music but there physical stores are closing too.

And yet in that department, they were useless. People complained of not seeing her album on shelves..

On what shelves? Very few large stores sell records anymore. I have not bought a record in a store in years. I buy from Amazon. The only stores in my neighborhood that sell records sell only vinyl in specialized genres like punk or jazz.

Let's face it, most of these things end at a supreme court anyway. And I don't remember a ruling in the last years that was not in favor of marriage equality. Sometimes justice is blind or in this case has no sexual orientation. The point is, laws are made to protect the people and before the law all citizens are equal. At least in modern, enlightened societies. The fact that some governments want to limit certain rights to a certain group of people is unlawful as it gets. It has always been but it has never been challenged until two decades now. Most certainly because there were still laws that were much more harmful for gays. If being gay could result in prison time, marriage equality is not on your mind. And it usually needs a supreme court ruling anyway if a government or parliament is hesitant to vote on it out of fear to lose some votes from conservative people. For the simple bureaucratic act that a supreme court ruling is binding for all courts in the land. A ruling there, basically becomes law. And I suppose it will end there in Australia too. The unfortunate thing is that the damage is done and Australias reputation has suffered immensely. I mean, it's kinda surreal. Some time ago when someone would have asked me which countries I consider the most open minded, Australia would have been in my Top 3, next to Canada and The Netherlands.

From what I understand (the Australians here can correct me if I'm wrong), the Australian Constitution does not have the same Bill of Rights, guarantees of individual freedom and equal protection of the laws as the US Constitution does. Therefore that makes it much more difficult if not impossible to challenge the gay marriage ban in the Supreme Court as was done in the US. If in the US we had to rely on our legislators to approve of gay marriage, we wouldn't have it either!

  14. I'm looking forward to it. I hope it all goes well and there aren't too many problems with the water and Zika etc.

I love the Summer Olympics because I used to run track and field. I also love the gymnastics and swimming.

And of course I hope Serena Williams can win another gold in tennis and a gold in doubles with Venus!

  15. Whether you like Hillary or hate her, whether you agree with her or not, you have to agree it was a historic moment for the country. The first woman nominated by a major party in the United States. I shed a tear!

I think Hillary is an amazing politician, but some people I guess want her to be a saint. She's not. I get disagreeing with her politics, but I don't see why some people think she's a horrible person. I don't get the hate directed at her. I find some Bernie supporters really childish and idiotic.

But I thought it was great how he nominated her, it showed real class. Not like Lucifer in the Flesh Ted Cruz at the Republican convention.

I said it before and I will say it again. Madonna is the Queen of Music, Hillary is the Queen of Politics, and Serena Williams is the Queen of Sports!

  16. an we all bet yet to put Money on Michelle running in 8 years time???

Michelle is amazing, but I don't see her running for political office. I think she will continue her campaigns to help women and children, and to encourage healthy eating and exercise in a more non-partisan way. Politics is a dirty business, I don't think she wants any part of actually running for office, and who can blame her!

  17. Does anyone know what "lock her up" is in reference to? Bernie Sanders supporters were chanting this. Lock her up for what? All I can think is that they are referring to Benghazi, which has been a talking point on Fox News for a couple of years? What does it MEAN? They think she should go to jail because they don't like her? Anyone??

I think it has more to do with the email scandal. There is some law that makes it illegal to mishandle, leak or be careless with classified information. Some people have been prosecuted for not protecting classified information. The FBI did an investigation of her handling of classified information on her server when she was Secretary of State and found while she was careless, it didn't rise to the level of a crime that should be prosecuted. I think the "lock her up" stuff is mostly in reference to that.
