HC should be at 695,000 by the end of the year.
Through 11/30 it was 682,150. I would imagine that she could pull off the following:
Tracking week ending:
12/7/08 3,000
12/14/08 3,000
12/21/08 3,000
12/28/08 2,000
Which is 693,150, plus the New Years week can put it at 695,000. Obviously this is all estimated.
it would probabaly be more like this cause of xmas

I think you're all dreaming if you think Warner is going to put as much effort into this as we are
if they are stupid (which they are), they will release a two disc, 30 song compilation of her 30 biggest hits. It won't include any new single.
-
I hope the song is a hit if only to end all this pointless negativity. I come on these boards for the latest information and all I see is a bunch of bitc*ing & whining about what Madonna does or doesn't do. It's one thing to be a fan, it's another to be a crazy loon with way too much time.
i dont see any negativity. people are just laughing at the fact that this song will go absolutely nowhere. its no different than the loons who think everything she releases will go to number 1.

IC is not gay at all as its the most popular non-fan non-gay album imo.
-
it would have made more sense to put bush's pic there, not mccains. kinda dumb
-
I know the song has made a big impact with the yonger generation who wouldn't have bought Madonna normally.
i dont think it made a big impact. it was simply another hiphop hit that happened to have madonna it in. this isnt gonna bring in new fans.

These are the biggest 10 hits of career, in no order.
Like a Prayer - today, it's everyone's favorite
Vogue - the biggest seller
Like a Virgin - her signature song
La Isla Bonita - in most countries, it's either her #1, #2 or #3 biggest hit of her career!
Papa Don't Preach - massive hit from True Blue
Hung Up - huge hit
Get into the Groove - awesome 80's dance song!
Frozen - the start of a new era in madonna's career
Music - just a big hit
4 minutes is a big hit, but I think several more madonna songs are "bigger" thatn that one. hence, it's not in the top ten (holiday, open your heart, material girl, etc)
-
it's progressing. I'll be bold and predict that in 2 or 3 weeks if things don't pick up WB should surrender to single # 3. As of now, this is honestly more than I expected, but not hoped for.
yea right, if only WB would be that smart. those idiots need like FIVE MONTHS before releasing a new single, no matter how much of a failure it is

I blame sites like Itunes for collapsing CD sales. Sales were not this low back in 2000-2004 when illegal downloading was going on. But starting 2005, CD sales really starting plummiting while single track sales blew up.
-
ouch, what a nosedive...#30?? why does she wait forever to release singles? (not like give it to me will actually do anything for the album, but still).

That is the "Change" show in Japan with Mile Away!
Oh and look at that subliminal message at 3:02, lol.

Tours do have an effect on album sales. There has to be a perfect balance of promotion, music videos, radio airplay and concerts to have stellar album sales, though.
WBR = imbalance
-
when are people going to realize that her tours have ZERO effect on album sales?? going from 3000 copies a week to 4000 copies a week does not count

01 Death Cab for Cutie: 140-150k
02 Frank Sinatra: 80-85k
03 Mariah Carey: 65-70k
04 Jason Mraz: 60-65k
04 Leona Lewis: 60-65k
06 Duffy: 55-60k
06 Neil Diamond: 55-60k
06 Madonna: 55-60k
09 Toby Keith: 45-50k
10 Keith Sweat: 30-35k
10 10 Years: 30-35k
it will be a miracle if HC scans 1 million at this rate

This is BY FAR the most expensive album madonna has ever recorded. God only knows how much pharrell and timbo charged her, not including fucking for tracks. So a second week number of 90,000 is a big, fat failure.
-
Live Nation has a formula they use to maximize a 3-month tour profit. And it's plain and simple - they're not going to move away from that. As much as it sucks, that's just how it is. And I dont know how much say madonna really has.
oh and human rights are not put into that formula, so c'mon everyone!

By the end of 2010, album sales will be even less relevant than they are now.
well consumers are being trained to buy 99 cent singles, which is the main reason why album sales have fallen so much over the last two years. i bet that if all singles were deleted, album sales would go up. i never really believed that singles help album sale.s

She is not releasing the album. Warner is. It's her last album with that label. It's being reported that Warner do not want to spend much in promotion, and at the end of the day, Warner is still making money, she is still getting paid and she has time to invest in other projects she believes are priority.
Sad, at the end of the day, but that's how business are. She'll have to WHORE herself to death with promotion for Live Nation though.
I dont beleive that. Warner is not doing well financially now and they definitely would like to see one of their biggest artists bring them as much money as possible. They can probably sell a total of 7-8 million albums with HC and Greatest Hits, and i doubt they'd want anything less.
And as far as Live Nation goes, that deal of hers is not that hard to accomplish. All she needs is 3 concert tours and a 2 or 3 big hit songs (to still make her a hot act) in the next ten years and that would be enough. The tours make a ton of money and will make up for any poor album sales.
-
didnt she write some pathetic letter last year apologizing to aussies that she never comes there?
-
No, she is doing private show in Dubai for a wealthy person at a birthday or something.
But Dubai is another country that may look exotic but has horrible human rights violations and a dark side.
I dont think she should play there either.
read this article, its really upsetting:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/01/world/mi...st/01dubai.html
Who the hell says she's picking and choosing countries based on human rights violations!? If Beijing can net her $20 million like London did in 2006, believe me she flock her ass there in no time. This is a business, not a human rights tour.
-
Im not from Oz, but i think its completely wrong of her to continuously refuse to go there! its a profitable western market and she'll make a lot of money from at least 6 shows there. really really odd
-
Does anyone know how much the Okenfold remix sold?
-
One million singles were sold before the album came out. I wonder what the debit number would have been like if all singles were witheld....
-
Why is billboard giving such a low estimate (220-240k)?. soundscan is usually quite close to Hits. retards. anyways, i'm hoping second week would not be such a fall off.
BOXSCORE: S&S grossed $407.7 million!!! Attended by 3.5 million people!
