Carta
Everyone should calm down. I think what this does is take away business from ticketbrokers rather than the usual ticketbuyers like us. I don't think it will affect fans like us who participate in presales or know how Ticketmaster operates. We will still be able to get the tickets the way we used to but face it, there are a lot of people out there who would rather pay triple the price then fight for tickets on Ticketmaster nor have the time to check every 2 hours if new tickets have been released. Well said, lori
ADUSTIO
That doesn't explain how Tina Turner's tickets are already on sale at stubhub before they've been put on sale to the general public, does it? How??? Where are these tickets coming from? didn't you read madonna has A DEAL with scalpers????????? those tickets came from her and her people. Ai Papi Si.
Why bother listing them publicly in the first place, then? Why not do a deal with another scalper offline? All it would take would be for one person to fork out $2300 to cover all costs, then get 46 of their friends to give them $50 each and the scalpers are thwarted. Madonna then gets a cut and the scalpers dip out (the ones who would have bought the 47 tickets). I'd love to find a real world example of someone who would not only do this, but would find (and know) 47 people who would all enthusiastically be like "oh ma gaw, let me get out mah checkbook!" Face it. None of us know what is going on. All we know is that Madonna's business moves are getting more and more like that of someone in the sunset of their career and if she's gonna become a Rolling Stones-ish touring act then I'm really not prepared to shell out all that money and energy to see Madonna shake her ass in a stadium! And this partnership with Stubhub just kills my motivation even more. It's like it's all about the bread with her now. I've seen the woman 3 times on tour and I'd consider them by far the most cherished memories for me as a fan. But this time I just can't help but feel like Madonna would rather have my money than my mere presence at her big kaboom of a concert. Anyway. I'll wait for Guy or Liz to tell us what's up. I didnt know she stored her money inside Mariah Carey!? That's Missy Piggy to you!

There are rich folks who just can't be bothered. There are corporate buyers who buy to give away to clients and pay any price for tickets. There are casinos, hotels who buy and give these tickets away. There is a market for this and instead of ticketbrokers making money off it, artists will start doing it themselves. Madonna may have been the first but I have read articles about this awhile ago that this is the way the concert business was going to go. Sports teams have already been doing this. These ticketbrokers are making so much money without benefit to the artist and the tour promoter. This way, they get a piece of the action. If Stubhub is directly affiliated with Madonna & Live Nation, then ticketbuyers who are willing to pay these prices would rather go to them then some anonymous ticketbroker online. And I'm sure if there are remaining unsold tickets, Stubhub will give them back to Ticketmaster to sell and that's where we will get these last minute suddenly available seats. Nice point of view. Seriously. We go into lynch mob mentality too easily in this place sometimes without looking at all the angles. Take a deeeeep breath. Everyone! Carta
didn't you read madonna has A DEAL with scalpers????????? those tickets came from her and her people. She has a deal to receive profit from their sales. This does not indicate that she provided them with the tickets, nor does it explain how other artists' tickets are available when they have no such deal. Can anyone explain where Tina Turner's tickets are coming from? No? Then no one can explain where Madonna's are coming from, either, in spite of the deal she has signed for a % of the profits. Ai Papi Si.
Lori your post musta been on the last page so I can't quote it (too lazy), I was gonna say that it's the first one that's made total sense so far. I hope that's what the intention is ultimately, for this business to prosper in that manner, which still might be slimeball on paper but ultimately fair because the artist will be the only person netting profits on tickets. I guess that's a good way to look at it - but it's still excessive and greedy. lol
glittercandy
NO thats not the way it has to go, Madonna decided to side with the enemy= ticket scalpers. Pearl Jam has one price for every seat $75 at MSG-- their the ones who sued Ticketmaster and also Nine Inch Nails had a special system for fans to get the ticktets not the scalpers,,and its under $100.. and the fans show ID at the show. Dindi
I think I've calmed down a bit. Perhaps it's best to wait until tickets for the first show go officially on sale on Ticketmaster. Maybe the situation will not be as bad as it seems right now. Hopefully we'll start hearing back from fans who successfully or unsuccessfully bought tickets. Ai Papi Si.
Nine inch Cocks are not following that path also. I bought tickets for Nine Inch Nails hours ago actually. Trent wanted to purposefully bypass the scalper syndrome by doing presales on his own website and doing ID'd tickets. It appears like it worked well (despite a bunch of glitches) and I was really happy he did that. He's been very much about his fans in this avenue, but he's obviously not a mammoth touring act. Madonna is a machine and Madonna wants dough. Simple as. I guess it's up to every fan to take it or leave it.
Carta
I guess it's up to every fan to take it or leave it. That's the real point, isn't it? People can take it or leave it. I don't think anyone's rushing out to buy tickets through stubhub at exorbitant prices here, are they? Those who can really afford it don't tend to frequent message boards! It's just something else to argue about, really
Camacho
That was sort of the question I had posted earlier but nobody answered. How would specific floor seats be already available when they haven't decided on the final stage setup yet? Yeah I'm wondering that too. There's a lot of confusion going around Madonna forums as to what the stage set-up is. This is all happening too fast.

Ai Papi Si.
The rock n roll bands are more about the fans anyway, not the stones but Madonna is just GREEDY!! It is. Like I said in response to Lori's post, I guess the intention is to just make it so that scalpers are obsolete, so that Madonna can profit "fairly." Which, no matter how you spin it, is excessive and greedy. Especially considering how much money Madonna makes when she tours. I think it's pretty irritating. But I guess it'll just be another hard pill to swallow in the daily spin of Madonna fandom.
Carta
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the best tickets still going to be available via Ticketmaster anyway for $350 or thereabouts? Madonna sided with the enemy by signing a deal with SCALPERS, EVEN other ROCK STARS will look down on her What I'm saying is that it's not going to affect ticket buyers like you and me. Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nail's market is different because they are predominantly bought by just fans. For concert giants like Madonna, the Rolling Stones and sport events, there is a another high priced market that exists. As I said previously said, very rich folks who can't be bothered to go through Ticketmaster, corporations, casinos, hotels, giving away tickets to clients. And if you had previously gone to these ticketbroker sites for a Madonna concert, you will notice that these different sites are actually selling the same tickets. And if you total the number of tickets being sold, they probably will not be more than a thousand tickets for a single date in a big market like NY. So these ticketbrokers really service a limited market but it's a market that is willing to pay enormous amounts of money for a ticket. Ticketbuyers like us know how to get our tickets and we always do manage to get tickets at regular prices. And Madonna's deal with Stubhub will not change this. Carta
And Madonna's deal with Stubhub will not change this. People can't see that, though. There's the impression that now Madonna is going to give all of the "best" seats to Stubhub so that she can make more money, but as naive as it makes me sound, I do not believe this to be the case. As you and I have both said, these broker sites have always had these tickets in the past. The difference now is that Madonna sees some of the money that the corporate or rich buyers are willing to pay for her tickets.

StubHub has a Great deal of tickets being sold before the pre-sale in the best seats. Thats what the problem is. And because shes promoting stub-hub more people will be tempted to sell a good ticket for $2,000 since she has made this site her offcial fan ticket site. Carta
Interesting point: Stubhub doesn't sell the tickets themselves. They're basically like an ebay for ticket sales. They get a proportion of the profits made through *other* people selling tickets via their site (just like ebay does). According to their website, "Unlike other ticket websites, StubHub is not a ticket broker and we don’t own the tickets you purchase on our site. We started StubHub to provide an active marketplace where fans can gather to buy and sell tickets. The price of tickets in a listing is determined by each individual seller. We're an open marketplace, which means that anyone can sell tickets at StubHub Among the fans selling tickets at StubHub are: * season ticket holders who cannot attend every game, * licensed ticket brokers, * ticket holders who have changed their plans, * ticket holders who are unable to attend an event, and * ticket holders with extra tickets to sell." If Madonna is providing the tickets to Stubhub herself, then Stubhub has completely changed its modus operandi. They're not the seller - they're the facilitator, just like ebay.
