  1. That would actually b funny as opposed 2 that little essay Guy's mate wrote 4 GHV2...

 I did like the bit about her riding one of the less-than-masculine cowboy's giant handbags in the "Don't Tell Me" video.

  2. Really? I just thought it b nice since he wrote that review of her debut album 4 Rolling Stone in '83..

'strictly bimbo city...' were his words I believe....

MADONNAS FONDLE MY BRA IMAGE... :demonic:

So his opinion would have now shifted to what? Madonna's "Fondle-My-Medicare-Covered-Cooch" Imageā„¢?

  3. you know what i always thought of that? i thought he was an idiot. she had just performed so greatly at roseland and kicked major ass and to get off that stage and do an interview and be grilled about something she said 10 years ago was so beyond stupid. you can feel her irritation.

he didnt praise her at all, in that entire interview - as shes riding the high of the audience. he was confrontational and amateur.

Not a fan of Norris...BRING BACK LODER... but really, watching it again it just looks like she's trying to show off in front of Justin.

Cahn't you see?! :dramatic: First time through high school she didn't fit in, this era was a do-over.

  4. I think that Rhino (under the Warner Bros. umbrella) will likely have a hand in this collection as they did with other artists either on or leaving the Warner Bros. roster; Cher, Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac, k.d. lang... (didn't they all at one time belong to The Validator).

Rhino have an excellent track record, and best case scenario they decide(d) to rope in someone like Bill Inglot. He is hardcore regarding research, tracking down the original single and LP masters and then remasters them like few others are capable. Very gifted mastering engineer who would be an asset to any producer trying to assemble a collection of this magnitude. Sadly, Warner dropped him during budget cuts last year meaning he is no longer a contract player for Rhino, leaving him to work "freelance", but I believe he has still remastered several projects for the label since.

  5. First of all MATTRESS I'm not making crap up based on my "prejudice" or whatever other crap you're trying to sell me, second of all I don't have the time or the inclination to sit there and compare note for note (maybe you do), I am however going by my HIGHLY TRAINED ears and my meticulous attention to audio detail, I don't need to run it through some silly software, that's what kids of today would do, I have too much experience dealing with sounds to do that, you go ahead and have a ball spending your time running stuff through softward, I know what I know and I hear what I hear and my CD version sounds like CRAP, period the END!

Agclef and his "highly trained" ears.

  6. Touch-y. :rotfl:

One way or the other, like she really remembers what she said! What bothers me is that she punctuates a lame-ass, matter-of-fact reinterpretation of a response given ten years prior, mind, with a healthy heaping of snip directed towards one of the few interviewers to quote her correctly.

A simple "I don't recall saying that" would have sufficed.

  7. Don't tell me BULLSHIT Mattress, I'm telling you that's how mine sounds...you can line them up all-day and night if you want, my version sounds like CRAP and that's a fact. Absolutely muffled in some spots, ad a matter of fact, Deeper and Deeper sounds slower and not as crystal clear as the original album version, that's just one problem----this collection is sub-par, uninspired and NO ONE had to tell me that or convince me of that, that was my feeling out of the gate with this CD.

    pms-1.jpg

I'll "bullshit" anyone who makes up things based on their prejudice for a release and doesn't bother to (and is seemingly unwilling to) check themselves. People do this all of the time whenever compilations, remasters, etc. come out. It's irresponsible.

You are aware that the single version of "Deeper And Deeper" on GHV2 is remixed and edited, right? If you're comparing to the Erotica album version, it's going to sound different. I can't help but think you're referring to the bad edit in the middle break which was poorly done making it go slightly off-beat...but this is exactly what was on the original single release.

Barring that you have the rarest of rare mispressed copies with faulty mastering (which you really should eBay), this is really simple to disprove. Here's what you do:

    - Rip "Deeper And Deeper" as a wave (.wav) format file from both GHV2 and the original CD single. Any pressing of the CD single will do, so long as it's the "Edit"' version.

    - Open them in a program with multi-track capability. I currently use Cool Edit.

    - Find an identical point on each file, highlight them and put them into the multi-track.

    - Go back to the original files for a moment and select either of the files (but only one) and select the "Invert" pre-set. You'll see that this makes each file peak in opposite points, cancelling each out.

    - Mix down to one file and you will see.

The two will only cancel out if they are from an identical master. Any differences will be isolated in the mixdown. In the case of "Deeper And Deeper" the only difference between the original CD single release and GHV2 is 1db of volume. Repeating this process, but turning the CD single rip up by 1db leaves you with total silence meaning this is an idential master with the volume subtly bumped up.

It is impossible for two recordings with even the slightest variation to cancel each other out. Due to the mechanism of tape, it is impossible to recreate a master that will run at the exact same speed twice. The two tracks would veer off track from one another and phase (even if in the slightest amount.)

If you're unable to do this, rip a wave file of "Deeper And Deeper" from your GHV2, shoot it off to me and I'll check it against each and every disc I have containing the mix.

  8. I have this digi-pak too. Worst audio quality ever. Songs sound slower in spots, just terrible collection (production-wise).

Bullshit. The masters used were those on the original singles... you can line them up one on top of the other in an audio editor and neither strays. EQ reads the same as well, with the only real difference being the volume level increase of a few pre-1998 tracks, and "Beautiful Stranger" was turned down.

Never understood why fans so loathe GHV2. It's a little pointless if you happen to have all of her stuff, but it's as though once the lack of new material was confirmed, one queen yelled foul and the rest ran with it for 8 fucking years. No one should so easily dismiss a collection culled from Erotica, Ray Of Light, etc...

  9. All of Britney's performances on there have been the LAST great moments for that show, even her bloated mess performance became iconic. She was what all VMA fans from the last 10 years watched it for. That era of her career and the last pop revival from a decade ago has died down, so the VMAs suck now and TRL went bust too. end.

Oh, hell. You're getting to be as bad as ProbedByGreys and StrawberryBounce.

  10. To this day that's the only clip I've seen of this Interview...

    Why? :americanlife:

A few other clips aired during which she was mostly on about "Secret".

A small piece aired in an MTV News segment promoting the Junior Vasquez remix... she reveals the title of her new single and speaks of the originals slower tempo saying something along the lines of "usually all of my songs are so uptempo that I can't sing and dance at the same time."

I'm sure this was all very helpful. :semifunny:
