  1. There has never been a Madonna book free of mistakes. All of the best resources still have a few errors. Hell, even Sex has typos (that is to say nothing of the oddly fused ass cracks.)

Still waiting for my copy of The Eighties to arrive, but from all I've read, the book is exactly what I was wanting. A near-comprehensive discography organized by album and single. Obviously a book for a very specific sect of Madonna fans... probably not for those who care very little or for those who care too much about her music releases.

Apparently there is a full page, 12x12 photo for every single and album, and the few I've seen have all been gorgeous. So, they accidentally displayed the back of a bootleg picture disc of You Can Dance in one of the entries instead of the real one. I'd imagine that other than the maybe five examples mentioned on Tribe that the majority of the information is correct this and this book will make for a nice resource.

More importantly, it will be a fun book to flip through for people like me interested in seeing all of the various international pressings of her music releases and some big, beautiful photos from throughout the eighties.

It's crap and boring, it features bootlegs marketed as official such as the German 12" YCD Promo Picture Disc listed with a picture of the bootleg and the LAV 7" single from Peru with the fake cover listed as a promo

Nothing amazing or rare, better pictures can be found online of rare items, lucky I didn't order it ha ha

Seeing as you "didn't order it ha ha," have you actually looked at the entire book? Sounds more like you're regurgitating posts from the Tribe forum and my guess would be that you've only seen the same few images as the rest of us. Perhaps you should reserve reviewing it for after you've actually held it in your hands. Thanks.

If it's "crap and boring" I will let you know once my copy arrives.

  2. Mattress, can you please post the Sorry (Radio Version) without the spoken intro and also the Nothing Fails (Radio Edit)

    Sure!

Sorry [(US) Radio Version] | download

This was only released on a rare, second US promo CD. Remixed and edited by Stuart Price, this version loses the spoken intro, instead beginning a cappella with the Robodonna "I heard it all before"'s. The middle of the song has only a few of the spoken lines and "forgive me" is placed later in the mix (similar to the video version.)

Radio Version is a confusing name for this mix as most non-US releases of the "Sorry" single refer to the Single Edit version instead as Radio Version. To help distinguish between the two, I refer to this US promo-only mix instead as US Radio Version.

The album version slightly resequenced and edited for single release.

  3. Mattress, after posting the LAP EY and KIT mixes by Shep that stick close to the originals, can you post his 'dancier', 'housier' reworkings? Esp the original version of what ended up on TIC and his reworking of KIT that I have on the single, only the single is not here with me  I would appreciate it!

    Ask and you shall receive:

I love that this version features the full album vocals at the end of the song. None of the other variations on this remix do.

Express Yourself [Video Version #1] (The house remix) | download

This is the soundtrack to the first cut of the video*. The version appearing on The Immaculate Collection home video is the second cut which removes some of the bedroom play near the end of the video and an alternate soundtrack with the beginning and ending of the 12" Local Mix sloppily spliced onto the main body of the previously posted 7" Remix.

    * Note: This exact version has never been released on any audio format --commercial or promotional-- but only the first 15 seconds differ from Remix/Edit which appears on the promo CD and 7" singles. (The intro on that version is similar to what is heard on The Immaculate Collection CD.) I have corrected a tiny digital glitch that appears on all pressings of the CD, but is not heard int heard in the video.

So, about those 15 seconds; while virtually identical to the Local Mix (post "zipper"), it slightly differs by having additional echo on the usually dry line "Do you believe in love?". I have painstakingly recreated the correct version for those who love the video mix. Painstakingly. Hopefully this mess of notes made sense.

  5. That would mean no "Holiday"....would a Madonna GH package be complete without that track...?! Do we really need "Hanky Panky" and "Rescue Me" under consideration instead of something like "You Must Love Me" (a Gold single, even though it didn't make it anywhere near the Top 10 in the US) or "The Power of Goodbye"?

I'd mentioned earlier that "Holiday" and "Into The Groove" are essential though they didn't make the top 10 (ITG was a UK #1.) They's signature songs.

That post should have read as "In addition to the signature songs and new recordings, they should look to the US top 10's and UK #1's to round out the track listing."
