  1. "A couple of days ago MadonnaTribe.com brought its readers the first look the track list of Madonna's new Celebration double cd compilation. Today we can add a few more details about the project.

Unlike The Immaculate Collection, released in 1990 with all brand new remixed edits in the great Q sound, Celebration unfortunately will not contain new remixed edits but mostly already released original Album Versions and Radio Edits of the hits plus some versions lifted from The Immaculate Collection.

Probably a bit more of a effort could have been put in the production of this project, especially after how badly the previous collection GHV2, completely made of recycled old materials, has been received by the diehard fans, but at least we have the two great singles, Celebration and Revolver that partly make up for this lack of originality.

And here are the exclusive details about the double cd track list."

  2. That's the estimated arrival time, which Amazon always greatly exagerates. This covers their asses since they often times don't send out products until after the street date but anytime I've ordered I've received items well before the estimate.

Initially Amazon stated September 22 was the release date (with an estimated arrival time probably somewhere between October 1-10...), so the change is just due to their correction and has nothing to do with Warner Bros. delaying the release date.

They've (Warner Bros.) really put too much push behind the September 29th release date to change it now, barring manufacturing errors.

  3. Update: Now at 31 of the 36 songs.

    Everybody

    Holiday

    Lucky Star

    Like A Virgin

    Material Girl

    Into The Groove

    Live To Tell

    Papa Don’t Preach

    Open Your Heart

    La Isla Bonita

    Who’s That Girl

    Like A Prayer

    Express Yourself

    Cherish

    Vogue

    Justify My Love

    Erotica

    Secret

    Take A Bow

    You Must Love Me

    Frozen

    Ray Of Light

    Beautiful Stranger

    Music

    Don’t Tell Me

    Die Another Day

    Hung Up

    4 Minutes

    Miles Away

    Celebration

    Revolver

In that case, "Borderline," "Crazy For You," "Dress You Up," "True Blue" and "Deeper And Deeper" are the other 6 I would consider "essential", though "Sorry" would always be welcomed.

  4. Well it seems "Erotica" might be there after all...

    07.jpg

On the left you can see words like "give it up", "kind of" and "my body", can't think of any other song that could fit...

Thanks for this! Great find!

Directly next to this (and a bit lower than your cropping) is the same portion of lyrics and it is the end of "Erotica" placed below lyrics from "Like A Prayer." (It says "Erotica (give it up, give it) romance, I'd like to put you in a trance, Erotica, romance, I like to do a different kind of..."

"EROTICA" IS A GO. Six potential spots left.

  5. Really? I wanted it to have your tracklisting. :(

And wait till it actually comes out so we can complain about them using the TIC mixes first. :demonic:

    :demonic: I know.

I look at it this way... great cover/art concept, new songs, 2 DVD video collection. The CDs seem to have a fair representation of her hits, pity about Erotica's bookend soundtrack ballads, but if the "Erotica" hits themselves are shut out I might throw a hissy.

Words have yet to be invented for my feelings if they use The Immaculate Collection Q-Sound mixes.

  6. UPDATED with "Erotica" and "La Isla Bonita" (8/3)

Okay, so between the press release, the lyric sheet on madonna.com and the official teaser ads, we have:

    Everybody

    Holiday

    Lucky Star

    Like A Virgin

    Material Girl

    Into The Groove

    Live To Tell

    Papa Don’t Preach

    Open Your Heart

    La Isla Bonita

    Who’s That Girl

    Like A Prayer

    Express Yourself

    Cherish

    Vogue

    Justify My Love

    Erotica

    Secret

    Take A Bow

    You Must Love Me

    Frozen

    Ray Of Light

    Beautiful Stranger

    Music

    Don’t Tell Me

    Die Another Day

    Hung Up

    4 Minutes

    Miles Away

    Celebration

    Revolver

That makes for 31 of the 36 tracks. "Borderline," "Crazy For You," "Dress You Up," "True Blue" (I know, I know) and "Deeper And Deeper" are the others I would like to see.

The handling of this release has far exceded my expectations!

  7. If "Rain" is lucky, it avaerages a spin a week in the USA. Too bad, as it's one of the best tracks on Erotica- but it seems everything associated with the album has been shut out of recurrent airplay. TUTBMP and IR get more play, with IR the only one that regularly gets spun 10+ times a week.

Then again, it's not like the Ray of Liht album gets a lot of recurrent play, either- ROL is the only track to get measurable play on a weekly basis (and even then, thesedays it's just 15-20 spins a week on average).

That's why no one factor can go into gauging how a track fits into the grand scheme of Madonna's cannon- there's initial success, recurrent success and the all-mighty ACCLAIM. ;)

That thud you just heard was HolidayGuy slipping into a gay chart coma.

  8. I really hope they know what they're doing. Can't wait for final word from Warner Bros.

Oh, and since we don't know the length of the new songs, 18 tracks on disc two really is playing it safe. It's fully possible that if the two new songs were short enough (i.e. the length of her recent radio singles) there would be room for one more song. In that instance, I would add "You'll See".
