Maybe because it was so AWFUL. She took a perfectly good song which reached no1 around the globe and ruined it with self indulgence.
Not one of her best moments. People want to hear HU in its original form.

Worst ever!

She does age, doesnt she?
Of course she does; but she obviously is chummy with quite a few plastic surgeons.
-
I think even gays would fuck her with that look.

I'm dying here. Too much fabulousness
I had never realised just how Blond Ambition-esque "Spanish Lesson" is until that video.
LOVE IT!!!!

"Heartbeat" is a box of fizzy fabulousness

This does not sound like Madonna? What parts does she sing in it?
This demo is not sung by Madonna.

Jesus.
Spotlight was a song, scheduled to be a single (or not) at the end of 1987 when YCD was going to be released.
WTG tour finished a few months before YCD came out.
She could have included it on the tour as promo and/or unexpected treat, but she didn't.
The ONLY point I am try to make is that just because she's got 'new' material to deliver doesn't mean that she will - it's not as if it's a predictable tactic of hers to use tours to get new songs heard!
Perhaps but even so the situation is not really comparable at all. She has gone specifically back into the studio to record songs for a GH that will be released soon and the new single will be in the charts while she is on the 2nd leg of a tour (for the first time in her career) which was supposed to promote an album that is already off the charts. Therefore it would be logical for her to include the new single on this tour. It's not a "Spotlight"/Who's That Girl Tour situation at all!
-
1. "Spotlight" was a True Blue reject that was just an add-on to You Can Dance rather than a song recorded especially for the album.
2. You Can Dance was released in November 1987; after the Who's That Girl Tour had already wrapped. It was not part and parcel of the tour nor the promo.
So I really don't understand why we're talking about that in this context.
-
Of course she won't sing it on tour; that would be actual promotion and we can't have that when it comes to her. It's just the way she is.

I hope Holiday stays close 2 the original..It's one of her greatest singles..
but the thing that makes it work is that groove..
I'm glad it's back.
In that case it can only be in the 2nd segment. It should ideally replace "Music" but we know that won't happen.
If the ho sticks "Holiday" instead of "Spanish Lesson" or "Give it 2 Me" then it will be fucking reinvented.

It's OK I suppose.

Well, she didn't claim primary writing credit on ROL- that's shared with four other people.
Erm, yes she did. Her name is first in the writing credits and we all know it shouldn't be. She got away with it (and other credits regulatly) because she's Madonna. Simple as.

Oh as if! The only pill she'd be on would be paracetamol.

What a load of SHIT!

i still don't believe their a couple.
Please tell me you're joking.

Smash Hits...RIP. Yes I remember that and their review of the album with lots of celebs (and Dannii Minogue) giving their verdicts (which weren't particularly complimentary). I've still got them in my scrap books (which I religiously kept from In Bed to Girlie Show). I love looking at those clippings every once in a while. Younger fans complaining of a Madonna backlash after American Life have NO IDEA how VICIOUS the press were to her in '92 - '93. Remember The Daily Mail's Madonna Free Zone? They didn't keep that up for long. I'm going to dig out those scrap books and listen to Erotica this afternoon, pretend I'm sixteen all over again. Instead of thirty fucking three!
OMG yes I remember that! Dannii loved Erotica though. She referred to her as 'Maddy' in her review and said she'd play it in her parties.
Some hasbeen from Neighbours also reviewed it and he liked "In This Life", but compared the album to The Immaculate Collection stupidly, and said he liked everything on that.
-
Also - who remembers the Smash Hits fold-out poster in August 1992 before Erotica when they referred to a 'lesbian-orientated song' called "Eating Out"?
I didn't understand what they meant at the time. (Obviously that was the working title to "Where Life Begins.")

Funny dat. It's also my dad who was more 'OK' with the fag chile than my mum.
He actually let me buy the SEX book much to the dismay of my mother.
"But he's just a kid...."
-
I got it on cassette too (first week)!
Did we all buy it on cassette or what?
-
"Secret Garden" is a slab of genius!
I never consider "Did you Do It" when I rate Erotica cause there were pressing of it without it ("Clean Version") and it's not really Madonna per se. I know which version of the album I listen to, and that's the one without that heap of turd on it!

Yes, especially the '90-'95 voice
But to be honest it's a well known fact that women's voices change after they have children...
