  3. I understand that GH collections don't usually top the charts especially in the US (even IC was #2).

But this a 2CD set. Doesn't it count as x2? In that case Mariah selling 300,000 = Madonna selling 150,000.

    NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!!!

SoundScan counts all 2cds as one sale. Not two sales.

  4. Billboard.com:

STILL IN VOGUE: Madonna and Whitney Houston arrive on the Billboard Hot 100, upping their already impressive counts for career chart appearances.

With "Celebration," new at No. 71, her 55th entry, Madonna moves within one of Dionne Warwick for second-most Hot 100 hits among women.

At No. 74, "I Look to You" marks Houston's first Hot 100 hit since 2003 and her 38th overall. The bow lifts her past Mary J. Blige into a solo share for 10th-most charted titles among women in the Hot 100's history.

Here is an update look at the women who've made the most Hot 100 visits:

    73, Aretha Franklin

    56, Dionne Warwick

    55, Madonna

    53, Connie Francis

    48, Brenda Lee

    41, Barbra Streisand

    40, Mariah Carey

    40, Diana Ross

    39, Janet Jackson

    38, Whitney Houston

    37, Mary J. Blige

Among all artists, Madonna ties the Beach Boys for a share of 13th place for most Hot 100 entries. Elvis Presley is the overall leader with 108 Hot 100 appearances.

"I Look to You," the title cut to Houston's album due Aug. 25, also returns her to the Adult Contemporary chart (No. 25) for the first time since 2003. On R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, the R. Kelly-penned ballad pushes 20-19, while the new set's second single, "Million Dollar Bill," co-written by Alicia Keys, claims Hot Shot Debut honors at No. 71.

On the Hot 100, Madonna and Houston had made simultaneous Hot 100 starts twice before. On Aug. 17, 1985, Madonna unveiled the eventual No. 5-peaking "Dress You Up" at No. 36, and Houston debuted at No. 53 with "Saving All My Love for You," which would become her first No. 1.

On Feb. 19, 2000, Madonna arrived at No. 43 with "American Pie," and Houston began at No. 83 with "I Learned From the Best." Again, though Madonna launched at a higher spot, Houston's track would peak higher. The former title reached No. 29, the latter No. 27.

  7. "Celebration" in Canada:

    MADONNA’S HOT 100 ‘CELEBRATION’

For the second consecutive week, a song captures both Digital

and Airplay Greatest Gainer honours on the Billboard

Canadian Hot 100, as Madonna’s “Celebration” (Warner)

rockets 56-5 in its second week on the chart. (Shakira’s “She

Wolf” snared the dual accolades last

week.) A 567% increase in download

    sales places “Celebration” at

No. 3 on Hot Digital Songs with

    8,000 purchases.

    Multiformat radio

play for the single leads to a 56-15

move on Hot 100 Airplay, up 116%

    to 7 million audience impressions.

It also debuts at No. 38 on the Hot

AC airplay chart and No. 41 on

    CHR/Top 40.

    “Celebration” is the

title cut from Madonna’s third career

    retrospective, due Sept. 29.

    • On Hot Dance Airplay, "Celebration"—the first single/title track from Madonna's upcoming greatest-hits album (due Sept. 29)—starts the party at No. 7, the chart's highest debut since Dec. 13, 2008, when Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" also debuted at No. 7. Since the Dance Airplay chart launched Aug. 16, 2003, only two other singles have bowed higher: Ciara's "1, 2 Step" (No. 5 on Jan. 20, 2005) and Madonna's "4 Minutes" (No. 5 on April 5, 2008) . . . "Celebration" also enters the Hot Dance Club Songs chart at No. 29—the diva's 56th Club hit. The entry extends her lead as the artist with the most hits on this chart.
