Must be refreshing writing about A REAL STAR and A REAL ALBUM on A REAL FORUM.

You actually turned a song I don;t like (She's Not Me) and made is very listenable. Good work!

All lists are subjective.

Alas I had a certain word count I had to stick to, and I couldn't really talk about BA without sacrificing some LAP stuff.
-
Sorry, Mel - it's out today, but has April on the cover. Available in shops and to download. x
-
Ha ha, what a fantastic idea Ivy! WIsh I'd have thought of that!
-
I totally agree. LAV was the first album of hers I bought, but True Blue I fell in love with. And then LAP came along and it was like a whole new Madonna.
-
Hey Jazzy & Jacket, will do. Unless someone else posts it, which will, of course be beyond my control....lol.
Til then, I'll repost next month.

Yeah, I'm not really supposed to post a readable version while the magazine is out. Gay Mags are an endangered species!
-
In this month's Gay Times magazine, I wrote a feature on Like A Prayer's 25th anniversary.
HUGE THANKS to the people here who put the LAP timeline together - I had just a morning to pull this feature together and this place was INVALUABLE when it came to links etc. Apols if in my haste there are any errors.

one of my all time favourite album tracks. Look in the sleeve notes, it would have to mention the Justify writers Kravitz and Chavez if it was a straight forward sample. Its much cheaper for her to just say those lines again.

While not exactly helpful, some of the answers in here made do some actual LOLs!

Has the kid ever been named?
-
But alas he has fallen off the internet since then.
-
Thanks P, you little star!
-
I'm trying to find the name of the guy who played her boyfiend in the Borderline video for a feature I'm writing about the unknown stars of classic 80s music videos.
ANy idea who he is?

Who's That Girl for me at Wembley Stadium when I was 15.

Orbit brings the best out of her.

Elaborate please.
from WIkipedia...
In the issue dated August 11, 2007, Billboard began incorporating weekly data from streaming media and on-demand services into the Hot 100. The first two major companies to provide their statistics to Nielsen BDS on a weekly basis were AOL Music and Yahoo! Music.[2] On March 24, 2012, Billboard premiered its On-Demand Songs chart, and its data was incorporated into the equation that compiles the Hot 100.[3] This was expanded to a broader Streaming Songs chart in January 2013, which ranks web radio streams from services such as Spotify and MySpace, as well as on-demand audio titles.[4]
In February 2013, U.S. views for a song on YouTube were added to the Hot 100 formula. "Harlem Shake" was the first song to reach number one after the changes were made.[5] The Hot 100 formula starting 2013 generally incorporates sales (35-45%), airplay (30-40%) and streaming (20-30%), and the precise percentage can change from week to week.[6]

IT'S GIRL NOT GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who gives a fuck apart from you?
-
I didn't rate this video when it came out. But over time it has absolutely grown on me.
And it's stood the test of time too, both the song and the video.
-
Now the video airplay plays such a huge part in getting a song to chart in the US, would Girl Gone Wild have been a hit after the chart rules changed?
-
I'd rather have had Supernatural on Like A Prayer than Dear Jessie.
My favorite "light" lyric:
Made your acquaintance late one night
You were floating around, you know you gave me quite a fright
You didn't seem like an ordinary man
More like a ray of light
God, I love that song!!
What do we think of Justify My Love?
in ARCHIVE - Madonna
Posted
One of her all time best tracks.
For one woman to be able to record songs so different like Like A Virgin, Live To Tell, Like A Prayer and Justify My Love..... people bang on about how Gaga jumps genres, she and nobody else is a patch on what Madonna used to do.
