  1. when you look at the fact that most within the music industry have decried the scalping of tickets for years and a number of bands have actively sought to implement ticket distribution methods that circumvent scalpers to try to make sure fans get the best possible seats. M in her position as one of the most wealthy, recognized, and powerful music artists out there could certainly have gotten further with anti-scalping plans that many of these smaller bands that have been trying and yet she doesn't.

    exactly.

Madonna teams with ticket seller StubHub

    May 14, 2008, 01:12 PM | by Chris Willman

Has Madonna taken to scalping her own tickets? Not exactly. But many music fans feared a bad precedent was being set when StubHub — a popular eBay-owned website where individuals and brokers resell sports and concert ducats — announced they’d forged a “partnership” with Madge and her promoter, Live Nation. Some assumed this meant blocks of tickets would be directed to StubHub, where they typically go for a much higher premium. Not so, says Chuck La Vallee, StubHub’s head of business development for music.

“She’s not going to be selling tickets on StubHub,” La Vallee says. “StubHub doesn’t own inventory, ever. It’s an endorsement, with Madonna saying: 'Look, if the show is sold out, you can still find tickets here.'” The company won’t discuss terms of their deal with the superstar, though The Wall Street Journal reported that Madge will get a flat fee as well as a percentage of the income from the tickets being resold for her tour. StubHub doesn’t owe Madonna or any artist money from secondary market sales, so what’s in the cash handover for them?

For starters, their logo on all the print ads and promo e-mails for her tour, offering StubHub a leg up on rivals like Ticketmaster’s TicketsNow site, not to mention Craigslist. More importantly, Madonna’s imprimatur lends legitimacy to an industry some still associate with Fast Times at Ridgemont High’s shady scalper, Mike Damone. But won’t every artist be stampeding to get a piece of their StubHub action now? “I don’t know if it’s quite a stampede,” laughs La Vallee. “We’ll weigh our options on an artist-by-artist basis.”

but isn't stubhub already reselling tickets for 2000 $ . and she's endorsing them?

  3. seriously. lets call it as it is: a good number of music consumers do not like this album.

mind you, that has no bearing on anyone's personal taste, but the speculation and theories are beat to a pulp.

    the numbers are real.

something went wrong. but mainly the marketing of this album was all wrong from day 1. the cover is just awful, imo.

some good albums still manage to sell well: Alicia Key's sold over 730k first week. still in the top 30 after 6 months. same for Mary J. Blige's.

  4. Maybe she DOESN'T want new fans. At least not young ones. Only older people can afford those ticket prices, plus... with ZERO promo from her, what is there to interest the youth demographic. The only reason I even got into her was because my 34yr old bf. :nocomment:

well... wasn't it why she made this album in the first place? to get new fans? From what I read at the Britney forums with a much younger crowd, they seem to like the album but they're not buying it obviously.

  5. It looks like THERE IS A CATWALK. Chicago, Boston & New Jersey now show a specific Madonna chart with a catwalk. Earlier they only had the general end stage chart. The MSG chart has not been updated yet. BUT I'M MAJORLY PISSED OFF cuz when I was trying for tickets earlier, it kept giving me Sections 4, 5 & 6 and I kept turning it down thinking there will be no catwalk and I wanted closer to the stage. Now with a catwalk, it turns out those were great seats. But now Ticketmaster is down so I can't place my order. ICON and Ticketmaster really fucked this one up.

Icon isn't working at the moment right?

  6. i hope she doesnt go to south america( mexico , chile , argetnina) .She will lose money since they have to charge half of the amount she charges in the us and europe,...and people will go to see her out of curiosity not because they are fans....a waste of her time..( and yes i have lived in south america...no one exept a few gives a flying fuck about madonna or any artist.)

she's been to Mexico, Brazil & Buenos Aires before. And Mexico's been confirmed for this tour already.

  7. I wouldn't go that far...it's a good song, it's just not the type of song that will attract the average USA buyer! I honestly think that BGO should be released next atleast in the USA, even Heartbeat is a better choice. Hopefully I will be wrong.

I agree. BGO should've been the next single.

  8. A Russian Iconer posted this...

Moscow Yellow press - u have to love it

Here's a short summary of my favourites (from UK newspapers and Russian too):

-Madonna to have dinner with Putin.

-Madonna sang 20 songs during the show.

-Madonna didn't pay the bill at Ararat Hyatt Hotel.

-Madonna left with scandal: did not pay $200 for the calls to USA.

-Madonna refused to fly to the show on helicopter.

-Madonna arrived 5 minutes before the show in Moscow.

-Madonna writes about walking in Moscow in disguise and buying souveniers for her kids in her own blog.

-Show was delayed due to bomb threat

-Madonna's clone will sing in Moscow. That is why no close-up photos were allowed.

    lol :D
