Beyonce's holding up well, in both charts. I thought she'd sink like a stone by now.
-
Where is our King Hafo with the midweeks this week? Are they delayed?
-
OCC just changed the rules and now different editions of the same album are being counted as one
From Haven Forums:
Yes, The OCC have now added approximately 240,000 Sales for 'Thriller 25' to those of the original 'Thriller'. They'll carry on adding their Sales together in the Future, as well as the 2 versions of the Amy Winehouse Album.
WELL REALLY.
UNFAIR. Thriller 25 is essentially a new album, what with all the new tracks and remixes. This means record companies can re-release and repackage albums to prop up sales, as in the case of Winehouse and Leona Lewis. The general public are too thick to realise they are essentially buying the same album with a few sub-par "new" tracks.
-
cause in the "Confide In Me" era whenever she was asked about Madonna by the press she would get very shirty.
:lmao:
-
I don't remember that... did the Channel Four broadcast have different editing than HBOs?
Mmm.. I'm really not sure. I don't see why it would. For Confessions, NBC was the same as the Channel Four show apart from them cutting out the swearing, censoring certain parts and cutting out the crucifix scene.
-
I'm sure when the DWT was on Channel Four, they had Batman-style "pow" and "bang" signs whenever she hit someone in the Sky Fits Heaven performance. They cut that out didn't they?
Regarding, the Stardust sample though, I think it still is on the DVD.
-
Mmm... I'm sure his story is HIGHLY EXAGGERATED. Perhaps a little scuffle after they were told to leave, IF that.
I'm sure there would be a national outcry by now if this was true.
He was probably out of his head on crack.
-
The Mirror on Saturday said she would likely perform at a few festivals, most notably Glastonbury.
-
Leave him alone! He's not doing anything wrong! He paid for his ticket like everyone else, looks like he's having the time of his life.
I'd be more worried at the bald guy with glasses in the blue shirt on the right-hand side of the screen from 01.13 onwards with his arms crossed and a confused face, thinking "My wife told me we were going to see Barbra Streisand in concert". :lmao:

Midweeks - Dec 30
ALBUMS
3 Girls Aloud - The Sound Of (11k) It's on sale for £3 in some places and apparently cheaper online!
:lmao: How RANDOM.
-
What I find interesting is True Blue's high placing. Although I'm still suprised Beautiful Stranger sold as much as it did, it's understandable as there was no parent album to take away from its sales. But True Blue, the third single from an album where the two previous singles were major hits, is remarkable.
Don't forget that Holiday's sales are a culmination of THREE seperate chart placings (the original and the two subsequent re-releases).
And no matter what anyone says, 4 Minutes really was a bona-fide SUCCESS. To rank that high in the diminishing sales climate of 2008 with little promotion is a real achievement. On the programme Paul Gambaccini remarked that Like A Prayer was her "imperial album", where no matter what she released would have been a massive success. Hard Candy though, he said, was her "holding album", neither good or a disaster and simply "held her position" as a relevant chart act and kept interest in her as a major touring act. He said it wasn't an encouraging sign for the sound of future albums.
Whilst Madonna's Top Ten biggest-sellers are in now way a definitive overview of her career, at least the entries prove Madonna has been a big-seller over a 25-year-time-span and not just at the beginning of her career. The Top Ten includes her earliest throw-away hits (Holiday, ITG), her position as the biggest act in the world (PDP, True Blue), her critically-acclaimed masterpieces (LAP), her first foray into electronica (ROL, BS) and her most culturally resonant track of this decade (Hung Up). Poor Michael Jackson's Top Ten is no way as reflective of his legacy. His top two biggest-sellers, as revealed by Radio 2, are Ben and Earth Song. Heal The World and You Are Not Alone are also in the Top Ten over his more iconic tracks such as Beat It, Rock With You, The Way You Make Me Feel, Thriller etc.
-
Right, here you go then, the Top 30 biggest-selling Madonna songs in the UK, from Radio 2.
It's exactly the same as the list someone posted a few months back from VH1, though it seems Beautiful Stranger and Like A Prayer have switched places (they WERE 8 and 9 respectively).
1 Into The Groove
2 Like A Virgin
3 Holiday
4 Crazy For You
5 Papa Don’t Preach
6 True Blue
7 Hung Up
8 Like A Prayer
9 Beautiful Stranger
10 Frozen
11 Vogue
12 La Isla Bonita
13 4 Minutes Madonna & Justin
14 Music
15 Material Girl
16 American Pie
17 Who’s That Girl
18 Don’t Cry For Me Argentina
19 You’ll See

25 Ray Of Light

All in all, an interesting programme. They stated that TIC had sold 4 million copies in the UK
Some interesting archive interview footage also. at Kylie Minogue saying she had "Ray of Light" on repeat on her kitchen stereo.
-
BBC Radio 2 are airing a special four-part programme for the New Year, counting down the THIRTY biggest-selling singles of the careers of Michael Jackson, Prince, Motown and Madonna in the UK. Madonna's one aired today, complete with the history behind the recording of each track, as well as commentary from various musicians and celebrities. A real interesting listen for fans. I'm sure it will be on iPlayer soon so if anyone's interested in seeing what track ranks where, have a listen.

Midweeks.
Burke has sold another 100,000 copies of her shite. Will likely over-take Leona's X-factor song, A Moment Like This, in sales.
1. Alexandra Burke - 100k+ (80k+ Physical)
2. Geraldine 13k
3. Leona Lewis
4. Jeff Buckley
-
Take That's "The Circus" has sold 991,508 copies up to close of business yesterday (Thursday)
Alexandra's "Hallelujah" is also on 382,296.
Mother fuck. Those are sales of the US. In a good week.
-
The Girls Aloud Party primetime special attracted nearly 9 million viewers on Saturday night, sandwiched between The X Factor final's near-on 15 million-peak. Expect Out of Control to rank high in this week's album charts.
Leona sold 571k first week with A Moment Like This. I expect this to come close.
Also, if ANYONE is interested, 4 Minutes came second in the Record of the Year. Nickelback was first
What a COMEDOWN. This show used to be on primetime network television a few years back. Now a paedophile reads out the results in front of a chest of drawers...
-
Poor brave 3 hit wonder Leona
:lmao:
-
And just think, with Leona's total sales of Spirit over 2.3 million (and counting), it means 1 in every 30 people in this country own this album in some format or another. Walk down a busy high road and SHIVER at that statistic every time you pass 30 people.
Quite shocking really.

Oh dear we have a lot of stupid people in this country.

4 Minutes is Madonna's second-biggest-selling single this decade... When the history books are written, the 00s will be known as the decade of the novelty song and the reality act. Look at that pitiful Top Ten... But also, when all is said and done, US acts have no real claim over major sales in this country. The majority of the big sellers are all British-born.

"Miles Away" is Madonna's 68th hit since her debut "Holiday" in 1984. She has made the top 40 on 67 of those occasions with only the import of "American Life" missing out, landing at #57 in 2003. "Miles Away" is easily her lowest charting single with other smaller hits like "Borderline" having peaked once at #56 in 1984 before re-entering and climbing to #2 in 1986. She has 13 #1 singles to her name and 725 weeks on chart placing her 4th in the all-time table.
Cheers for that. Do you know the weeks for the Top 3 acts? Guessing it's Cliff, Beatles and Elvis? Or is Queen in there instead of Beatles?
And maybe Madonna can re-release Miles Away in a few years in slightly-remixed form and see if it will get Top 10 like Borderline :lmao:
Am I right in thinking (if we presume Miles Away is the final single from HC) that...
- Hard Candy is the ONLY Madonna studio album to have only two Top Ten singles.
- Along with Erotica, the ONLY Madonna studio album to have only one Top Five single.
- The ONLY Madonna studio album to have only two videos.
DIRE.
Charties, please correct if wrong.

I hate this time of year in the UK charts. Acts like The Saturdays, Taio Cruz and James Morrison would be lucky to scrape the Top 20 at any other time of the year. But with sales so low after Christmas, they can easily score Top Fives and then include this achievement in future press releases.
