  1. Madonna called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” to discuss her Super Bowl performance including the controversy around M.I.A.‘s digit malfunction, and whether or not we can expect Britney Spears on her upcoming single “Girls Gone Wild.”

Since stepping off the Super Bowl stage controversy has swirled due to Madonna’s guest performer M.I.A. raising a middle finger during the performance. Madonna confesses: “I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it. I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity it seemed negative. It’s such a teenager…irrelevant thing to do…there was such a feeling of love and unity there what was the point? It was just out of place.” (Skip to 7:20)

Can we expect more gladiator motifs from Madonna’s upcoming world tour? “Oh god no! I don’t want to repeat myself. I never do that! I am having auditions all next week. Then I’m going to shoot the video for ‘Girls Gone Wild’ after that, then I start rehearsals,” she says. Madonna also squashed rumors that Britney may make an appearance on her upcoming single “Girls Gone Wild” saying, ”No, it’s just little ol’ me.” (Skip to 14:20)

The “Material Girl” shared that the most stressful moments of her Super Bowl performance were “when my throne docked on the stage…then getting my cartwheels on the bleachers right. Once I got past those two moments I knew I was sailing home.” However while performing her hit “Like A Prayer” with Cee Lo Green she “was overwhelmed. I started crying. I felt an incredible sense of warmth, love, and support. To see an entire stadium light up like candles it was…like a religious experience.”

You can pre-order Madonna’s new album MDNA which is due out on March 26th. It has “a lot of up tempo [music], but I also have three ballads which I haven’t done in a while. Something for everyone!” Also enter for the chance to See Madonna

Will Britney Spears feature as a guest on MDNA?

    THE RUMOUR

A tracklisting of Madonna’s upcoming album MDNA has hit the web and states that Britney Spears will feature on the track “Girls Gone Wild”, produced by Benny Benassi.

This would mean a second Madonna & Britney Spears collaboration and another artist featuring on MDNA besides Madonna, M.I.A. and Nicky Minaj.

A rep for Madonna had no comment about the rumour and didn’t confirm or deny it.

    THE TRUTH

Britney Spears has recorded vocals for Madonna’s “Girls Gone Wild” track.

This does not mean that they will be used for the album version. Madonna’s team is not sure yet. On the one hand it would huge for the promo of MDNA, but on the other hand it has already been done and they don’t want to repeat themselves…

“Girls Gone Wild” will be the second single of Madonna’s MDNA album!

    What do you think?

Do you want another Madonna/Britney Spears Collaboration?

Madonna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Glued People To The Screen

App usage figures show people couldn't look away

    By Josh Wolford · 16 hours ago · 2

Follow @WebProNews inShare.5 Mobile apps analytics and advertising company Flurry tracked mobile app usage across various stages of the Super Bowl. What they found was that there was one particular segment that had people glued to their televisions.

Flurry began the study with the belief that the “second screen” (a mobile device, the “first screen” being the TV) is still “largely more disruptive than complementary.” Basically, people aren’t really using their devices in tandem with the TV – more like opposed to it. When something happening on the TV isn’t interesting to a viewer, they are then likely to pick up their iPhone and start playing Angry Birds.

Their study pretty much corroborated that belief. Big moments in the Super Bowl broadcast equated to decreases in app usage. People put down their phones for things like the coin toss and for kickoff.

But the longest sustained period of time with a drop in app usage covering the entire Super Bowl came during Madonna’s halftime performance.

Whether people were watching because they thought it was awesome, or because it’s hard to look away from a train wreck – the point is people were tuned in

    madonnaappusage1.jpg

    From the post:

Studying overall trends reveals a highly correlated, inverse relationship between app usage and game, halftime and commercial events. Generally, app usage increased steadily over the first three quarters of the game, showing the challenge in holding peoples’ attention over several hours. However, because this year’s game was close throughout, including an exciting fourth quarter finish, app usage remained relatively checked.

Noticeably, app usage declined significantly during the last part of the fourth quarter. The most clearly visible change in app usage occurred during Madonna’s half time show, where app usage remained consistently low for the longest, sustained period of time. From this, we conclude that Madonna strongly held viewers’ attention on the first screen and was a major draw for the Super Bowl this year.

Advertisement popularity was also found to link to a decrease in mobile app usage. The ad that saw the smallest use in apps was Elton John’s Pepsi commercial.

A Decade of (Bad) Super Bowl Halftime Shows

I enjoyed Sunday night's halftime show more than others from recent years. That's coming from a guy who has paid money for albums by The Who and Paul McCartney, and attended concerts by the Rolling Stones and Tom Petty.

Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction was a game-changing moment in halftime history. (That show also featured P. Diddy, Nelly and Kid Rock, with AOL as the sponsor; talk about a snapshot of 2004). After Janet's breast swung loose, the show went downhill. And by downhill, I mean old and British (in an attempt to avoid future wardrobe malfunctions).

Here's a look at every Super Bowl halftime show since 2001.

•2001: Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Aerosmith, 'N Sync, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige and Nelly -- This was the glory days of MTV's Total Request Live, which I watched daily after school. This lineup is an accurate snapshot of that year's largest musicians and comedians. That makes it a quality billing in my opinion -- even though I'd never voluntarily listen to any of these artists.

•2002: U2 -- I understand the need for a 9/11 memorial, but did it have to be U2? This should have been Springsteen's year.

•2003: Shania Twain, No Doubt, Sting -- For some reason, I don't remember this halftime show. I know saw the Bucs beat the Raiders, but somehow I missed this. That's weird, because Shania Twain was my first concert (yep) and The Police are one of my favorite bands. I lived in a college dorm at the time, though, so I probably played a quick Bucs-Raiders Madden game at halftime (on my Game Cube).

•2004: Janet, Diddy, Nelly, Kid Rock and Timberlake -- This game's wardrobe malfunction would send halftime shows into a dark and boring place.

•2005: Paul McCartney -- McCartney's great. I can't insult him. But I don't want to hear a shortened version of Hey Jude. He shouldn't be playing the Super Bowl.

•2006: The Rolling Stones -- I was heavily into the Stones at this time, so I was excited. Halfway through the first song, I got a text message from my brother that said, "What do you think of your beloved Stones now?" The fact that I remember that exact text message speaks to the overall horrendous nature of the performance. They stunk, and they looked old. (Six years later, still rocking. If they make it another six, I say book 'em again).

•2007: Prince -- Fine with it. Better than the last two years, but still not quite right. This looked like we were inching closer to the pre-Janet pop extravaganza of the early 2000s. And then...

•2008: Tom Petty -- I've been to several Tom Petty concerts. I love him. But he's a the lead singer of an old rock band. You can only do so much with that.

•2009: Bruce Springsteen -- Bruce made up for the lack of youth by zipping around like a madman and getting sexual with his microphone stand.

•2010: The Who -- This is an all-time low. Even worse than the Rolling Stones. Terrible booking. To be quite honest, The Who has done nothing but let me down since the first time I heard "Baba O'Riley." It's been a long string of letdowns since then.

•2011: Black Eyes Peas, Usher and Slash -- Six years after Janet and Timberlake -- finally a modern pop group with upbeat, danceable songs. Too bad they suck.

•2012: Madonna, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A., Cee Lo Green -- I liked it. Madonna looked old, but not in a terribly sad way. She picked the right songs and the right accompaniment. She stepped around and let the green screen and Cirque du Soleil do the heavy lifting.

The halftime show, in my opinion, should feature (American) decked-out pop stars lip-syncing over computer-generated dance beats. It should be a lesson in pop culture. We should look back on it as a musical representation of the year that was. It's not a sample of what was good. It's a sample of what was big.

Looking back on 2010 and seeing that The Who played is stupid and confusing. Madonna is old too, but she transcends generations. And young people know who she is.

The only potential setback for next year was M.I.A.'s middle finger, which has turned into a bit of a controversy, but not nearly on the level of Janet's. The powers that be probably won't trust wildcards like Lady Gaga, Ke$ha or Katy Perry, but you never know.

Next year's game will be in New Orleans -- the first Bowl in that city since Katrina. That has U2 written all over it. The ultimate travesty would be a Green Day/U2 combo. They played "The Saints are Coming" after the Superdome was cleaned up and football resumed in New Orleans. (Also, I just realized the previous U2 performance in 2002 was at the Superdome. They almost seem inevitable at this point.)

Actually, wait. Scratch everything I just said about young, fresh talent. Randy Newman, I just realized, is from New Orleans. I want him.

    Or maybe Master P.

  5. she's gonna sell 99.99% of the tickets without the album included anyway, so might as well not give it out for free. instead they should give out some tour version of the album for a discounted price above 3.99. this way, it can chart on billboard as well as sell useful copies. the sticky and sweet tour had 3.5 million audience, so it would mean at least 3.5 million more potential buyers since they are mostly fans.

At Super Bowl XLVI, all eyes on Madonna

    By Suzi Parker

At her Boy Toy 1980s zenith, Madonna would have hardly been Super Bowl material. She was too edgy, too rebellious, too naughty. And back then, Madonna wouldn't have wanted to perform at one of the most conventional events in America. It would have cramped her

Madonna at a news conference about NFL football's Super Bowl XLVI's halftime show. (Matt Slocum - AP) style.

    But that was then.

At tonight’s Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis, she’ll will perform for an estimated 117 million viewers. Has Madonna Louise Ciccone, free spirit and ex-pat, ended up being as all-American as Tom Brady?

Her performance, naturally, isn’t without controversy.

Madge’s critics have already said she is a ghastly match for the likes of the Super Bowl. They say she is a faded star at age 53. They gripe that her faux British accent is annoying. But she’s ignoring the naysayers. Instead, Madonna says that performing at the Super Bowl is “a Midwesterner Girl’s dream.”

In the video age, the Material Girl defied conformity, preferring to push buttons that made parents and the Moral Majority cringe but teenagers squeal. And she did it so well, wearing crucifixes, burning crosses and angering the Pope so much that he banned her from performing in Italy.

Madonna has sold more than 300 million records worldwide. Guinness World Records identifies her as the world’s top selling female recording artist of all time. She is a diva, and proud of it.

Her detractors claim the only reason she is performing is to generate a larger share of women viewers for the Super Bowl. But what w

Madonna a the "W.E." premiere during the 55th BFI London Film Festival in London last October. (Gareth Cattermole - GETTY IMAGES FOR THE BFI) ould be wrong with that?

Yes, women of a certain age like Madonna. We remember dressing in black lace gloves, rubber O-ring bracelets and leggings, trying to master the moves from the “Lucky Star” music video. For many Generation X women, Madonna opened the door to sexuality – exposing us to topics that even “Cosmopolitan” didn’t address. Remember her 1992 book “Sex” wrapped in silver cellophane? Women weren’t the only ones sneaking peeks of that, rest assured, and they won’t be the only ones watching the halftime show.

On the age front, critics should tread carefully or risk looking sexist. When Paul McCartney performed in 2005 and Mick Jagger in 2006, both men were closing in on 63. Few said anything about those legendary performers’ age, but instead heralded their music legacies. In 2009, Bruce Springsteen gave such a joyful performance he seemed — though this is usually said only of women — ageless.

Madonna’s new video, “Give Me All Your Luvin,'” features Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., who will also perform at the halftime show, cheering Madonna as she strolls down a sidewalk with a baby carriage. Then generic football players carry her around like a goddess.

Having grown no more shy with age, she struts around in hot pants, fishnets and a leather jacket looking more like a thirty-something than someone eligible for her AARP card. The video also pays tribute to the ‘80s, with Madonna wearing a cross, flashing her bra and donning platinum hair from the Blond Ambition era.

Madonna could never have been a one-hit wonder because she cultivated a career of re-invention and a succession of new personas in the then-new world of music video.

In 1992, she founded the entertainment company Maverick as a joint venture with Time Warner. Five years ago, she signed a $120 million contract with Live Nation, unprecedented at the time.

Madonna also made movies – some good, some terrible – and documentaries such as “Truth or Dare.” She won a Golden Globe for her role as Eva Peron in “Evita” in 1996. She has also been a fashion designer, a children’s book author, film director and producer, and the mother of four children – two biological and two adopted.

She has a new movie, “W.E,” about Wallis Simpson that she co-wrote and directed. (It hasn’t received glowing reviews, but negativity never stops Madonna.) She has also hinted that she could launch a world tour this year. Bottom line: She needs to do some promotion and make another come-back.

The best way to do that? Perform in front of half the country and have everyone humming “Vogue” at the office on Monday morning.

Super Bowl 2012 Halftime Show: Cee-Lo Denies He's Joining Madonna On Stage

Cee-Lo probably won't play any songs from this album at the Super Bowl halftime show.

By Jason Kirk - Regional Editor

Atlanta native Cee-Lo Green, of solo and Goodie Mob fame, is rumored to be playing the halftime show of Super Bowl 2012 with Madonna, but he's either doing his best to keep his reported role a secret or the Super Bowl halftime show will be dumb and bad.

Follow @sbnatlanta on Twitter, and Like SB Nation Atlanta on Facebook.

Feb 5, 2012 - Madonna will be playing the 2012 Super Bowl halftime show. This much we must come to terms with in our own ways. I'm pretty OK with it, as 2012 Madonna will be far superior to 2012 The Who or 2012 Paul McCartney, and the whole thing doesn't really matter at all if OutKast or Kanye West isn't the headliner. So whatever.

However, there was that rumor that Atlanta's Cee-Lo Green will make a contribution, along with Nicki Minaj and LMFAO. This is the sort of thing I'd care about. He's reportedly been spotted at Madonna's rehearsal space in New York frequently, and has also reportedly been investing in local scholarships in Indianapolis until the early hours late this week. He also played some sort of set at the BCS National Championship Game.

We'll assume Cee-Lo's bit will be singing the first verse and chorus of "Forget You," then joining everybody for a slice of our true national anthem, "Party Rock," all of which would be so much better than no Cee-Lo.

However, he's denying the rumors, insisting he'll be at home.

When asked about the Super Bowl: What Super Bowl? I'm not much of a sports fan, but I did hear something about it ... I can't tell you anything. I'll be home with family and friends, probably eating something and enjoying the game.

When asked if Madonna's one of those friends: I don't know about that. I wish she was a friend of mine ... Do you guys believe everything you read? I'll be in Atlanta, Georgia.

Super Bowl 2012, Patriots Vs. Giants: Bill Belichick Prepares For Madonna's Halftime Show

Through the years, Bill Belichick has earned a reputation as a meticulous coach who prepares for any situations. After Tom Brady used a quick-kick punt in the AFC Divisional Round against the Denver Broncos, for example, Brady noted that it was about time the Patriots used the play: he'd been practicing it for five years.

So it's no surprise that Belichick scripted practice this week with Madonna's Super Bowl Halftime Show in mind. (via WEEI)

"Normally our halftime is 12 minutes and this halftime will be closer to 30," Belichick said during Friday's press conference. "It gets into a whole restarting mentality. It's not like taking a break and coming out in the second half. It's like starting the game all over again. It's like playing a game, stopping, and then playing a second game, a doubleheader in baseball if you will. I think that makes it a little bit different.

"We tried to simulate that in practice on Wednesday. We had the players go through that process of restarting. You can have a meeting about it, you can talk about this is what it's going to be like. I just felt that it was beneficial for our team, this year, to actually put them through that-go out there and warm up, practice, take a break, shut it down for a half hour, go into the locker room, simulate what a halftime would be, in terms of corrections, adjustments, and re-starting our bodies both mentally and physically to restart the game."

  9. Will Madonna answer prayers of fans with show in Capital?

SHE’S the world’s top-selling female recording artist and probably the biggest superstar never to perform in Scotland.

But now – if mounting rumours are to be believed – pop icon Madonna is set to put that right with a barnstorming concert at Murrayfield this summer.

The Material Girl could make her Scottish debut in the Capital as part of a tour to promote her 12th studio album MDNA, which is due for release in March.

Grapevine gossip suggests the 53-year-old will take to the Murrayfield stage on July 21, although no tour dates have been confirmed.

News of a possible date broke online yesterday, but neither the Scottish Rugby Union, which runs Murrayfield Stadium, nor Beverley Hills-based events company Live Nation, which represents Madonna, would confirm or deny the speculation.

Live Nation would only say that “there would be something later in the year”.

Madonna, who has sold more than 300 million records worldwide, has never before performed in Scotland but married film director Guy Ritchie at a star- studded Highlands wedding in December 2000.

One self-confessed Madonna superfan in Edinburgh, Scott Anderson, 34, who has watched the US songstress in concert 14 times, said she could sell out Murrayfield Stadium several times over.

“I had heard rumours that this might be happening,” he said.

“I think it’s about time she would play in Scotland and thought there might be a chance because she got married here. She often does play in places where she hasn’t been before and will be guaranteed a sell-out here – she could probably do a couple of nights.

“I hate to think of the money I have spent seeing Madonna over the years but it was worth it every time.”

Councillor Steve Cardownie, Edinburgh’s festivals and events champion, said securing a Madonna concert in the Capital would be a “huge coup”.

“If this is true, this is fantastic news for the city,” he said. “Madonna is the superstar which all the rest try to emulate and if she comes to Murrayfield it will be a sell-out and another feather in Edinburgh’s cap.

“People will travel from all over Scotland and elsewhere. She is the queen of pop.”

He added: “I’ve been fortunate enough to see David Bowie and the Rolling Stones at Murrayfield and Madonna is up there with them. ”

Madonna, Ringo Starr & other big stars could hit Peru this year

Lima, Jan. 05 (ANDINA). Peruvians are looking forward to another year of memorable concerts, with reports in Lima suggesting the arrival of Madonna, Foo Fighters and Ringo Starr, among other stars.

Last year, after attending large music festivals in countries like Chile and Argentina some artists decided to visit Peru and this year’s edition of Lollapalooza could be a good supplier of music again.

Among the famous bands and singers that will hit Chile for said event are Foo Fighters, Björk and Arctic Monkeys, El Comercio reported.

Also this year, Madonna will release a new album and her promotional tour is already confirmed. Even though Peru was not included in her 2012 Tour itinerary, it was reported that the Queen of Pop will close her concert agenda between January and February, so her shows on this side of the world could take place by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, other megastars that will come to South America in 2012 are over-the-top artist Lady Gaga and Umbrella hitmaker Rihanna, and one of them could visit Peru.

On the other hand, rock lovers have set their hopes on a Ringo Starr concert, who is expected to perform in Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Brazil. According to Somos magazine, the former Beatle is negotiating his arrival to the Andean country.

Another British singer, Morrissey could also land in Peru this year as businessman Alberto Menacho said last month through Facebook that negotiations with the ex-The Smiths are still ongoing.
