    A cautionary tale for England

    June the 1st

    6 to 11 year olds

    All wrong

It's horrifying to think that school leaders who are suppose to protect children put them in such danger. I'm a kindergarten teacher in NJ and I'm grateful we are closed for the remainder of the school year. We have been told that we will re-open in September, but that seems to be quite unlikely considering all the children who have become ill with a covid like syndrome. I work in an area that became a hot spot so it would be a big risk to re-open without major changes in effect.

We have reopened about 80 % of our country. Inbound / Outbound flights are still banned till end of June .

Malls ( except gym and  cinema ) , Stores , restaurants as well as some offices have reopened . Schools remain close and students have to study online.

I went to the one of the malls for the first time in almost 3 months and everybody was wearing masks and face shields . All staffs at the malls

( in all stores ) are wearing masks and face shields as well as rubber gloves  . I was wearing mask and disposable rubber gloves and no one bat an eyelid .

Tables at restaurants have clear partitions

separating the diners . Even if you go together as a couple you will have to sit behind your own partition on the same table.

A table of 4 will only have 2 seats available as per social distancing guideline. Bars and clubs are still close until further notices .

Sales of alcohol are banned in restaurants ( available to take home only ).

When you go into a restaurants, stores , malls you must check in / out with QR codes and you can submit reviews of whether or not the promises are following the government's

    health / safety guidelines .

This is the new normal here .

It sounds like a very strategic and safe reopening unlike how bars in NYC opened over the weekend. Bars served drinks as take out orders but people hung out in the streets outside the bars causing over crowding and some bars even let people in to drink. People were not practicing social distancing and wearing masks either. The stupidity and ignorance of people in general is to blame, but also political leaders such as Cuomo and DeBlahsio who are not making masks and social distancing mandatory instead just saying that people should be safe and let the animals out of their cages. I've seen videos from Italy and from what I've seen people seem to be wearing masks and respecting the rules in public spaces. The US at the moment doesn't seem to understand.

  3. My paranoia has gotten worse. I do not go outside at all anymore. I check the mail once a week and any packages I sanitize and dispose as soon as possible. I let the garbage pile up and throw it out same day as I check the mail. Food delivers here are so limited that never find a window of availability and since I don't drive or feel safe taking transportation, I rely on my family to deliver food and groceries to me. Thank god for them otherwise I don't know what I would do. Friends and co-workers have been diagnosed with the virus and my grandmother passed away a week ago alone in her nursing home 2 days after her diagnosis. It's been a stressful nightmare with no end in sight. Praying for everyone.

The shelter-at-home/social-distancing thing isn't the hard part for me...it's the anxiety that just doesn't go away. The fear of not just what's going on, but how it's being handled (and NOT handled, frankly), what's true vs what's not true, what's to come, etc...  Just trying to keep calm and sensible, while staying properly informed, is far harder than it seems. I'm forcing myself to take several days break from media consumption because it's just too much.

Even making a grocery/supplies run feels scary. It shouldn't, but it does. Going only 1 day a week (if that), first thing in the morning. Worked pretty well the other day.

u are not alone same feelings here too

  5. I’m starting to feel the anxiety and restlessness creeping in alone in my house

my school district isn’t helping they’ve thrown more work at us and expect us to conduct parent meetings from home, and meetings with special services. What do I say to the parents? Your child isn’t doing well with remote learning, you suck as a teacher? They also want lesson plans now.

they expect all this shit not one person is asking if we are doing ok? They must think we are enjoying time off which is so not the case. Providing no support or even showing any concern for their teachers.
    ugh

    Hi 🤗

I've been working from home for a week now and I also go out only for essentials. It's driving me mad but at least I have more time to get things done in my home, as all of my after-work activities have been cancelled for the time being.

I had tickets for the 10 March show, but that was cancelled, and in the end I didn't go to Paris at all.

I had broadway show tix to see Mean Girls- cancelled, Plaza Suite w/Sarah Jessica Parker- cancelled and waiting to see if Broadway reopens in May for Take Me Out

I was so looking forward to SJP

I have a few things to do at home but I'm too lazy to do them probably once I get bored enough

  7. Hello everyone!

As the coronavirus continues to spread, more and more of us are practicing social distancing, working remotely from home or under quarantine

Check in here to share your experience.

Here in New Jersey, I am off from work since all schools are shut down. We are working remotely from home. I have isolated myself in my home and only going out for essentials.

Now, i’m starting to feel sick. Then again, i’ve been very paranoid, stress and anxious for the past days so it may be stress/anxiety related sickness.

It's understandable to become paranoid with all the non stop panic reporting and social media posts.

I freak out every time I cough or sneeze. I suffer from anxiety too and the best thing to do is step away for a bit practice a bit of self care and try to relax.

  9. The coronavirus can live in the air 2-3 minutes

it is said that it will be less contagious during the summer and then pick up again in the fall hopefully by then there will be some sort of treatment

mostly surface contact and direct contact with persons with the virus is more common way of catching it

just be extra careful clean surfaces if you are traveling via mass transportation and wash your hands with soap and water

sanitize as much as possible if shaking hands or out in public

and for gods sake stop price gauging all the cleaning products

I had to go to Staples to buy cleaning products everything is sold out

  10. Biden is the only one with a real chance here against Trump. I’m not going to kid myself though obvious Trump will be re-elected no matter who he faces.

Warren and Bloomberg will be next to drop out. Warren lost her own state of Massachusetts and Bloomberg has no chance now. Let Biden and Bernie fight it out now.
