  1. I never understood why everyone hated the Sorry video - it's not perfect but I think it's a lot of fun to watch, I'd certainly watch it over Hollywood or 4 Minutes. But then I again I really like the Get Together and Jump videos lol

All I want from the next album is a sensual duet and topless photoshoot with Rihanna

  2. While we're on the subject of album artwork variations, does anyone know if all the Like a Prayer booklets are now solely printed in black and white? I bought the album in 2001 and it came with a b&w booklet - it wasn't until years later on madonnadiscography.com that I saw that the centrefold photo was in colour, and that the end pages were powder blue. I thought I bought a faulty copy or something but it seems like they're now all printed in black and white...?

  3. I watched the performances a few times - I found the editing a little jarring for some songs at first, but now I love everything. As many people have already said, the photos in Like a Virgin/Love Spent worked so well and gave it a great 70s vibe, and the crowd shots in Like a Prayer were so much fun. Though I do have a few minor quibbles -

GGW - I wish they showed much more of the screens during the dance break. It was absolutely electric live and the dance closeups took a lot of that away imo.

I Don't Give A - I wish they showed Nicki during the "there's only one queen and that's Madonna - BITCH" part, and I wish they focused on a singular shot of the very end when she raises her hand and "smashes" the cross behind her.

  4. After Ray of Light and Music, this was the 3rd studio album of hers I heard and I loved it instantly. I've always thought that the record had 2 distinct halves - the first half is a lot more contemporary and dealt with pretty straightforward lyrics/sounds, while the songs from Forbidden Love onwards are the real "bedtime stories" - poetic, romantic and melancholic. The segue from Sanctuary into Bedtime Story is when she exits her mind and body and gets unconscious. And it's all so seamless and consistent, like an unfolding book, so I don't know why she said that she struggled with making the album sound cohesive with the different producers. I think it was her 1998 interview in Q where she said that a lot of people didn't "get" this record, and I think this was what she was talking about.
