  1. I'll wait until I see an official tracklisting before putting any faith in what DW has posted. And even so, I could simply guess "True Blue" would be left off considering there are a number of hits she could include instead.

As for the photoshoot... we'll just wait and see. I have a feeling Madonna is interesting in doing something special rather some normal Greatest Hits package.

  2. No, it's because you go on and on when it could've been condensed to 3 or 4 sentences. This isn't an appreciation post, by the way. This is about a 20 second clip. So keep rocking on with your 3 paragraph replies. You act like you're above it all, but it seems to me that you love throwing yourself in the middle of it.

Okay is this short enough for you... "FUCK OFF!!" You don't see me criticizing how many sentences or words you post here!!*IGNORED*

  3. I saw the first 5 words, and was over it. This guy needs to understand how to condense his words.

And why am I not surprised that an appreciation post for Madonna gets attacked? Pardon me if you haven't the comprehension or patience to read my lengthy response, yet have all the time in the world to read a 32 page thread and respond many times within it.

I'm betting if we added up all your replies in this thread to my very few replies in this thread, I bet you've probably said more than me!! Please do fuck off if you're going to attack me. I'm not here to play these little juvenile shitty games some of you like to play here!!

  4. Dude, when I first heard the Hung Up clip, I went INSANE. It was so good.

Don't call us who don't like the clip non-fans. We adore Madonna. God damn... when is this thing going to leak?!?

It's not a matter of calling people who don't like the clip "non-fans". It's the fact that a number of fans (???) have made up their mind base on a 19 second clip. Not only that, it's usually the same people who bitch about what she is doing anymore. It's like they are never satisfied with what she does which brings to question... "are you a fan anymore??"

Does that mean you weren't a fan or still not a fan just because you don't like it?? No. But if you spend the majority of your time disliking what she does, I would say your appreciation for Madonna is lost.

For me, I've been a fan pretty much since the mid 80's. I love her stuff even before I was a fan, yet have accepted that she's never going to be the same entertainer she was in the 80's, nor the 90's. I will agree that over time, there are songs I dislike of hers, but there still isn't one album I totally dislike. Over all, she's still a great entertainer. I'm still in awe of most of the music she produces no matter who helps her produce it.

I would be a bit more accepting to the criticism of this track if people were hearing the full thing, but the fact is, no one here has heard the full track. I certainly understand if it's not hitting a home run for you, but some have taken a 19 second clip and dissected it and judged it before it's been heard in it's full context. I don't think that is fair.

I really can't say 19 seconds really is enough time to judge if it's "dated" or not my cup of tea. All I can say it sounds promising and I am enjoying the clip so far.

As for the statements/opinions of it being dated... again, I don't think it's fair to make that judgment at this time. However, let's say it does sound dated? What does it matter? There are plenty of great songs I love that sound dated. And honestly, this is for a collection of the past 25 years. Even if it is dated, I would think the song would fit well in the context of the album, don't you think?

In the end, I just find it silly and ridiculous to carry on about the things I dislike when there is so much more to Madonna that I do like. Again, there are a few songs I just can't stand to listen of Madonna's. And the moment that she makes an album full of tracks I can't listen to, I will consider maybe my appreciation for her is no more. But I suspect that since she's produce 25 plus years of music that I've enjoyed, there is hardly a chance of her recording an album I dislike. She's pretty much stayed pretty true to what I've enjoyed all along.

The problem I am seeing more and more as the years go on at a many of these fan forums is that I detest participating in them more and more because the fans are sounding more like (if not worse than) the anti-Madonna fans/forums. It's depressing and I think that is why some fans are annoyed by all these negative comments. It's not that someone has a different or negative opinion of Madonna or her latest track or what not. It's the fact that it's usually the same fans who overwhelming are always negative about everything she does anymore. But for me, she's outlasted most entertainers and have kept me entertained through it all. I know that all good things usually fall. Madonna has many great years of producing great music. But for many entertainers, they cannot sustain the popularity and keep evolving as Madonna has in the past. Eventually, I suspect there will come a time that her ideas and entertainment will not be as interesting as in the past, but that's because like anything...all good things do come to an end. But I feel Madonna has a number of great years still ahead of her. This is why you won't see me carrying on about the things I dislike as much as what I do like.

"Celebrate" may not be her best work, but it does sound like a fun track. And being Madonna is most noted for producing the most fun dance/party music than many other artists, I'd think this track from what I've heard so far seems to fit quite well in the context of the GH's set coming out.

  5. Nevertheless, i look forwards to the collection. Hope Cool and Broken are either B sides or iTune extras!

I keep reading this comment from various people, but "B-sides" are pretty much non-existent anymore. Now, we have "Bonus Tracks" to albums which is possible with the digital album copies.

She hasn't had a B-Side side since "Jump" (History) and even with the Confession singles there weren't really proper singles released other than digital. All the hard copies came in Maxi/EP Remix sets.

  6. Generally, at least what I have noticed, straight guys are not die-hard fans of any female singer. It is not that being a Madonna fan is a "gay" thing. Being a male devoted follower of any female singer is considered "gay". Straight males do like female singers and Madonna is certainly one of them. But they generally don't post on forums as much as a female or gay male.

Stereotypically, this may be true, but realistically, it isn't. I will give you that a lot of straight guys may avoid fawning over Madonna or such as a lot of people do here (gay or straight), but there are a lot of straight males who do like female artists to the degree a lot of die hard fans do of Madonna. In the U.S., it's stereotypically the COUNTRY female artists such as Shania Twain, etc. And I also think a lot of straight males are just so uncomfortable admitting the artists they like whether it's a female or male artists unless it's some kick ass edgy group like AC/DC or something in that caliber.

It's a shame that (especially in the U.S.) straight male fans feel they can't express their feelings towards a female artists like gay males. Though, I think this is pretty much restricted to U.S. I don't think Europe puts so much of an emphasis on what is considered "gay" or "straight" music.

    It's pretty ridiculous.

  7. which one is gay shit song? "Celebrate"?

i think madonna was being fair for her fans - " Celebration" single is for her gay fans and 'REVOLVER' single for her young hip-hop, or straight fans. -

So it's gay vs. straight fans?? Honestly, we have no confirmation other than speculation that REVOLVER is even the other new track. And even so, I guess I'm one fan who doesn't look at her songs as "gay" or "straight". They're just songs... songs I either enjoy or don't enjoy. What I've heard of "Celebration" it sounds promising. And I also really enjoyed the demo leak of "Revolver" (even with the rap) and think if hers is anything like the leaked demo, it will be pretty great.

I just don't understand why people have to label music... especially for straight or gay people? Certainly, I do understand there is an overwhelming general gay fan base for Madonna, but there is also a lot of straight fans who just enjoy her music, no matter how it sounds. I know I do.

  8. Damn, can Madge do anything right with some people? A lot of people disliked HC because it was too hip hop and not dance enough.... she listens and gives us the dance music we want and it's still not good enough? Because of you, she'll do a country cd next, just watch

I know what you mean! 25 plus years of great music. Some misses yet many huge successes. And the more I read about the complaints over a 20 second clip, it puts me in stitches.

To me, this is pretty close to classic Madonna we're going to get without her pimping out one of her old songs Ala "Hey Now Hey Now, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" style.

I am not going to say that this song is new ground breaking music. But c'mon people, I just get the feeling that Madonna was looking to put together a track that reminiscences/pays homage to her old party and dance tracks. I certainly never expected she would produce something totally different since the GH's theme is "celebrating" her past 25 plus years of work. And from what it sounds like, it's concentrated more on the fun and uplifting tracks of her career.

I just don't get the criticism... where it's just not good enough... not enough time/effort/creativity put into it, etc?? That's just ridiculous. You get that all from a 20 second clip? And even so... did you really expect she was going to bring a new sound to the table for a GREATEST HITS package "celebrating" her career??

Let's not forget that "American Life" was quite different from what she was doing. I really feel there was a lot of thought and time put into this project, but many of you hate this album too.

I really think a lot of people have lost their appreciation for her. So now whatever she does, is never good enough.

  9. The 20 seconds sounds promising. Definitely has the old school "dance, get up and do your thing" going on. Sounds like one of those big rave songs as well. It could be very successful... even in the U.S. if radio will give it a chance.

I must say. It's quite disappointing to see fans pick a part of 20 second excerpt of a song. I guess if people are being honest, you can't take that away from them, but it just sounds to me that there are some who can never be pleased. It's like their stuck, hoping she's going to duplicate something she did in the past to the tee. But I'm not sure if that is true either since some are trying to compare this to "Get Together", claiming the song is awful.

For me, from what I can tell... this song is what Madonna's all about... she's one big party. So while the song may not sound like a throw back to the 80's, the theme and lyrics definitely give you that feeling. For me, that's where my appreciation all began. I'm beginning to think that if you can't get into this song, then maybe it's time to hang it up as being a fan. Because I don't know what else will please you? It seems the same fans (or it seems so) are never happy or appreciative anymore. All they want to do is sit around picking the song apart.

If you genuinely don't like it. That's fine. We all have our tastes, but from what I've read since the 20 second clip has leaked, is the same old complaints. Some people never will be pleased.

It's a shame because right now, we need all the fans to unite... especially in the U.S. and make sure this gets a fair shot on mainstream radio. I just remember back in the 80's, whatever song Madonna released, radio was so willing to play it at fan's request.

  10. I can, those are not "fans." They are rating who looked better in the outfit. In those pics Whitney looks more slender, feminine and her boobs look perkier. I'm not saying Whitney has a better body, but in those pics Whitney definitely looks better.

I voted Whitney. She looked better even though I feel both looked great. This isn't a contest of which entertainer I like better. It's just about a silly dress.

  11. Would you rather they wore to the same event? :queenbitch:

I'm not sure how that relates to what I was saying, but ummm... my point is that what's the chance two huge selling Divas from the 80's wore the exact same dress on the same night, but at two different events. It's just an odd coincidence that this happened on the same night.

  12. A lot of people don't appreciate at all what Hung Up did in the US! It was released on i-tunes and on the radio the SAME DAY! And the song managed to hit no1 on the HOT DIGITAL SALES for 2 weeks a few weeks after its release! That's extremely rare, to hit no1 without even a one week repression! Just because it was 2005 it peaked at no7. Today, in my opinion, it would have been at least a top4 hit on the hot100. Don't forget that Hung Up sold exactly the same with the most successful song on the american radio ever, we belong together! So make sure that you all download the song when it's out! Tell your friends to buy it, buy it as a gift for them!

I think my issue is how hesitant Radio was to play it in the U.S. While the rest of the world was willing to play it at any time, only selected regions of the U.S. would play "Hung Up". Middle America... forget it. Though, it did get much more airplay than I expected. I actually heard it in my neck of woods, which is rare for a new Madonna song since I noticed a lack of interest in playing new Madonna songs started with the release of the singles from RAY OF LIGHT. "Music" and "Don't Tell Me" got good radio exposure, but after that, radio stopped playing her new music. "Die Another Day" did pretty decent though, but again by then middle America wasn't into her anymore.

When "Hung Up" was released and was hearing that it got some airplay, I certainly thought "Sorry" as a single would do even better. Boy was I was wrong. I actually thought "Sorry" was always a stronger and friendlier radio song. So it surprised me that after the attention of "Hung Up" in the U.S., radio ignored "Sorry". But of course, the rest of the world was eating up the song. I had almost forgotten how big CONFESSIONS ON A DANCEFLOOR was until I checked it's sales and air charts world-wide. It was the album that she was #1 in over 40 countries. Something she had never did with any other album. Yet, in the biggest music market, she did not receive the same love.

I understand that U.S. has a different market. And I guess that's why in the past U.S. music was always so popular. And maybe I'm just bias or I am getting older, but the music in the U.S. sucks. However, I do enjoy a lot of the newer music lately that is from the rock bands. All the new Hip hop and R&B crap is getting old to me though.

  13. face it, you wont get a good, "satisfied" tracklist by basing it on chart success.

your better off on putting on songs that have importance to M's catalog/history. Just because a song didnt go to number one, doesnt mean that it shouldnt be on the tracklist.

Actually, I agree. I guess that is what I was getting at first. The tracklist should be about songs that have had an important impact on her career as a musician. But it should represent what was most popular with fans and radio airplay. For instance, "Rain" didn't chart as high as some of the other bigger hits, but it got a lot of radio airplay and it had longevity. I remember they played the hell out of that song until "I'll Remember" came a long. "I'll Remember" got a lot of radio airplay as well. But of course, it charted better as well.

In any event, I don't think there will be a set list that will satisfy everyone, but I think the above would come close to representing Madonna's career.

But with a title like 'Celebration' for the album, it's possible she could include non-hits like "EveryBody", "Where's The Party" and other songs that fit the theme.

    20 songs, 4-minute average...

    17 songs from the 80s

    14 songs from the 90s

    09 songs from the 00s

bold songs must never be left off... never again... no need to protect TB album, no need to protect STR...

This is pretty much what I envision the two disc set being like. Though, I am not sure 20 tracks will fit, because many of her songs go over the 4 min mark. I guess they can edit them down, but some of them cannot be edited down such as "THIS USED TO BE MY PLAYGROUND".

I also think she will leave off "American Pie". She never was into that song until Rupert begged her to do it. It seems she now wishes she didn't cover it. I could be wrong. It was a hit for her in Europe, so I can see why it would be included.

I always question "Hollywood" too. While it did well in some countries, but looking at chart positions, "American Life" the song did significantly better across the globe than "Hollywood", so I would think she would want to include that one instead. But I prefer "Hollywood"... especially Stuart Price mixes.

I think many of us have to remember that the GH's collection represents her hits across the globe, not just one particular country. But in the end, I think the songs that should be included first whether they charted #1 or #10 or #20 are the ones that have made a huge impact on her career since releasing them. For instance, some can argue chartwise "Beautiful Stranger" wasn't a big hit, but I think it was. It was only just in the U.S. it didn't chart well and that was due because it wasn't released as a single. No doubt, if a single was released for that song in the U.S., it would have hit at least the top 5... if not #1. It was a big song for Madonna back in 1999, thanks to the soundtrack it was tied too.

  15. I can EXCLUSIVELY reveal the tracklisting for Madonna's upcoming Greatest Hits album - CELEBRATION - 25 YEARS OF SUPER HITS out this September.

The album has a picture of Madonna on the cover however it will not be have an accompanying DVD. Madonna herself told me over a drink after her 02 gig last week - 'It's all about the music Neil - that's what's endured.'

    UNTIL NEXT TIME

This is very much like the last one posted earlier in this thread or another. Again, as stated before... I do not believe "Borderline" would be left off such a definite collection for the inclusions of "The Power of Goodbye", "Oh Father" and "Hollywood" that weren't big hits. I'm not saying they all won't be included, but I cannot believe "Borderline" would be left off as it was a much bigger hit and pretty much was her first top 10.

  16. I don't think LAV is dated. I think it is a great, catchy, smooth, fun song. It has a more "classic" feel to it though. MG is a bit dated.

LIB had shockingly held up great. Whowuddathunk? It has only grown more loved by fans and non-fans over the years.

I have to disagree. I think LAV is very dated. And being her second biggest hit in her career behind TAKE A BOW, you'd think radio would play it more.

But I must agree LIB has held up great over the years. Again, I didn't think it would have. Though, I've always loved the song and video. Nothing beats the original. I did like her acoustic version on the DW tour though. That was pretty awesome.

  17. Yeah, that track listing is fake. I've seen it posted elsewhere. It's been mentioned it was fake as well. And the fact "Borderline" and "Lucky Star" being left off is a big dead give away. Those two songs got her into the top ten. The inclusion of "Bad Girl", "Oh Father", "Nothing Really Matters", and "Hollywood" also are dead give aways. Hardly huge hits when there are other songs that could be included that were bigger successes such as "Causing A Commotion", "Keep It Together" and "Rain".

  18. Why people keep comparing current Lady Gaga's success to that of Madonna in 1984. I think Madonna and Cindy were much ahead of the current Gaga's level by then. Maybe in 1983, not in 1984

I agree. In fact, I'd think Lady Ga Ga has made a much more quick impact than Madonna when it comes to first coming on the scene. Madonna's first album took a while to take off. LADY GA GA's album had a buzz months before the album was released and "Just Dance" was a big contributor.

If I was going to make any comparisons it would be that Lady Ga Ga is much more comparable to Cyndi Lauper than Madonna. Cyndi was much more eccentric with her look, style and music. I think the same of Lady Ga Ga. Also, Cyndi had a string of hits from her debut album like Lady Ga Ga.

Does that mean she will take on the world like Madonna did?? Nope!! Cyndi had a great start and stayed popular for much of the mid 80's. But her appeal started to wear off while Madonna's kept growing.

So I cannot compare Lady Ga Ga to Madonna. Give Lady Ga Ga a decade and see where she goes. If she continues to succeed with future albums, then we can talk. But she's going to have to evolve and not do the same shtick or she'll no longer interest people. She's got a great start though. I wish her luck and I love most of her songs.
