That Pacha clip must be the last 2 minutes of the album version.
NOPE!!!
-
I do hope for the best, but in the end... I like it, so I really could care less if the rest of the world likes it. But I'd be surprise if it doesn't do well in Europe. As everyone else mention, U.S. is on the fence.
-
Glad revolver is getting released but isn't sptember too early?
Not uncommon to release a second single when the album drops. I guess it all depends on how successful "Celebration" is. They could push back the date of the release if "Celebration" is still doing very well.
However, It's obvious that "Revolver" will have a different sound. Therefore, it's quite possible they are hoping to lure in casual fans who enjoy this sound more than "Celebration".
And depending on the region (U.S.), if radio doesn't play the first single and help it succeed, they may want to use "Revolver" to help promote the Greatest Hits as well.
-
Another of Oakenfold's mixes (with more vocals) Pretty good quality... not the whole song though. It is not the album version as the author of this youtube claims!
-
Do you think Rain should be on?
It got more radio play than her other singles from EROTICA. It may be a song ultimately forgotten by casual fans. And it seems "I'll Remember" and "This Used to be.." has been ultimately forgotten by Madonna and company. Two big hits. Those started a streak of ballad hits.
-
But it's one of her greatest hits in japan. Sold 800000 I have read on here. If this collection is her biggest worldwide hits it should be there!
I think most fans are just over analyzing how they are going to choose the tracks. I'm sure Madonna and company aren't as detailed as fans are going to be here.
I get the opinion that the collection will focus on the songs that really made an impact on her career world-wise whether they made it to #1 or not. I don't think it's going to be specific to any region.
That said, I really don't think MILES AWAY belongs on the collection when there are far many other songs among her catalog that should be on there based on the impact the song had on the world.

This got mixed up. MadonnaTribe only said that the Benny Benassi remix will be used in the video, so people assumed the leaked recording from the video set is Benny Benassi remix, but that was NEVER confirmed. Of course Paul could have played someone else's mix, but I think that's unlikely.
Why do people keep ignoring the fact, "Celebration" is co-produced by Madonna and Paul? So whatever mix he plays, it still is his song as well.
Well if this is true, why is Neutrocks saying he heard the album version and that it's different to this???That's because the album version hasn't leaked. Everything up until now, we've been hearing remixes/dubs except for the 20 second excerpt that was originally leaked.
-
That's the Benny B remix not the album version!
Lame Paul did't even play his own remix! Thus is Pauls set?
Hmm? I think people are forgetting it was he and Madonna who co-produce the track from the beginning. So maybe he didn't play his own remix, but the song is still his and Madonna's.
This is why I say above some people will not be happy at all with the original mix since they have an issue with Oakenfold.
-
neurtro, I hope the album version lives up to your hype.
I only can speak for myself, but seeing that most people aren't very favorable to Oakenfold's touch, we're going to have a lot of people bitching soon. Mark my words!

At least this settles the argument about it being a Greatest Hits compilation too as some people here have been adament about it not being one and it is retrospective instead. I wonder if that will affect the tracklisting - obviously, they will have to be flexible with the term otherwise it will be very 80s heavy and most of the 90s and 00s wouldn't be represented if it just followed the US chart placings!
But isn't a GREATEST HITS "retrospective"? I'm not sure if I'm following what you mean?
-
But dude, that was the mention. That was the confirmation that it was the official cover. Plus, if it wasnt the official cover, then Liz Rosenberg shouldnt have sent out a hi-res version to media outlets
Could very well be promotional! Remember the promotional image that came out when "Confessions..." was starting to get press? That wasn't the cover of the album.
But anyway, I'm not saying it isn't the cover. It's logical to think it's the cover based on what they said. I'm just putting a "what if" factor to it?

(A copy of the cover image of the "Celebration" CDs and DVDs is attached)
http://www.madonna.com/news/title/a-celebr...er-28th-release
I didn't deny that the image is attached to the article. My point is that the article didn't state that it was the cover. Just mentioned who did the artwork, and we just assume that is the album cover. And I am not saying it isn't. I'm just stating that technically there was no mention that it's the cover.
-
Are you for real? The cover was premiered on MADONNA.COM, it's totally official.Hello?
Actually, Madonna.com never stated that it was the cover. Yes, they mentioned who designed the cover and yes, they provided artwork which we presume is the cover, but Madonna.com never stated it was the cover. But I understand why we would assume it is the cover, being it was tied to the article.
NOTE: I am not saying that it isn't the cover. I'm just pointing out that there was no real official statement that it IS the cover.

I think that liking American Pie shows a general lack of taste and people that like it are SHIT Madonna fans. THERE I SAID IT
Your opinion!! But if we're going to get technical here, "American Pie" managed to chart #29 on the U.S. Billboard Charts and #1 on the Club/Dance charts without even a single release in the U.S. So I suspect that if it did get a release in the U.S., it would have charted much better. The rest of the world did get a release and it went #1 across the globe. So I do see a place for it on the collection, but I will agree it's not really significant to her career to do so.
-
I don't think any songs that were big hits for other before before her should be on the compilation. APie is not an essential part of the Madonna catalog- neither really is DCFMA. She sings it fine, but... and, the Miami Mix is fun and dancey, but, also not essential. Neither really contributed anything to her artistic personality.
I agree HG!! "You Must Love Me" would be the exception since it was written specifically for her for the movie. Though, I am not sure it's really a song that has made a huge impact on her catalog. I prefer they add as many of the older songs that weren't as big hits such as "Burning Up" and "Everybody". These songs also fit the theme of the album being it's called "Celebration".
-
Well I think people assume that if a song is excluded from a compilation or if it never gets performed on tour that Madonna hates it.
She said she hated Material Girl many times over, and yet she's performed it on tour in 2004 and you can be sure it will be on this collection.
Yeah, but AMERICAN PIE and MATERIAL GIRL are just two worlds apart regarding success. I think the fact she was apprehensive to even record it in the first place, speaks volumes to me why she doesn't include it on tour or future compilations. Also, MATERIAL GIRL is one of her signature songs. She can say she hates to perform it now, but there will always be a public outcry for that song before AMERICAN PIE. She knows that.

Fake. Look at the spine. Someone did a horrible cut job with the logo that they took from the front cover.
Will people ever learn???
You're right, but as for the track listing it's pretty tight. Each CD has 18 tracks which is plausible, but I suspect if they could fit 19 tracks on both, the inclusion of "Lucky Star" and "Open Your Heart" should be there. Those were two big hits for her, so it's just strange to think she would not include them as well.
-
Cool. You make it sound really interesting.
It is. The problem is that people are putting too much emphasis on a 20 second clip and a poorly recorded remix of the song and then comparing it to the DUB. Of course, that is all they got to go on, so it's understandable, but for the life of me I cannot fathom how anyone can say they aren't going like the song after just hearing about 20 seconds? What's even more crazier, it's THE CHORUS of the song. The chorus pretty much stays true to itself in all the mixes. Of course, each mix has it's own flavor and production, but there is so much more to this song than that 20 second clip which has leaked and is indeed the front part of the original song. It's the first time the chorus is heard in the song.
I look at it this way... some of you are going to be knocked off your feet, wondering why you even doubted simply over that 20 second clip, while others will just never be satisfied. And I'm fine with the fact some people just may not dig this song, but I think it really becomes an issue if you're just constantly nagging on everything she does now.
Trust me... "Celebration" is a true homage to her dance hits, without actually reproducing the same sound and/or song. It's got the vibe of Everybody/Into The Groove/Holiday/Where's The Party/Vogue/Get Together/Jump/Deeper and Deeper all wrapped up into one song. And if you've enjoy all or most of those songs, you're going to love this.
-
But how do you know which version you heard?
How do you know it wasen't the Benny remix or a Paul remix? In the another post u said the Benny remix is the one which sounded like what u heard.
It wasn't the Benny remix I heard, nor the DUB that's been leaked. The 20 second leak is the chorus on the front half of the original version. But of course the chorus sounds pretty much the same on the DUB. Yet as mentioned, the DUB is remixed. Trust me!! You're all going to flip when you hear the original version. And as usual some people will never be satisfied once they hear it.
Focus on the fact that a lot of different sounding remixes are coming from this single.
-
apparently the album version is even BETTER
It is! Don't let the 20 second leak fool you regarding this nonsense some are trying to make with "Cascade". Once they hear the full song, they'll realize their mistake. But yes, the 20 second leak is the front part of the original version. Then it continues to build up until the climax. It's excellent!!

LOL I know...I was just adding to your point...
I just miss the days of MTV NEWS when Kurt Loder or people of credible music knowledge were reporting.
Oh, I just missed the fact they played videos nearly around the clock. At least when they added original programing to their channel in the 80's, they releated it to music. For the life of me, I don't know how they can call themselves "Music Television" when a few hours out of the whole day they actually play videos. The same goes for Vh1. At least, if they were looking for original programing... make it MUSIC related. Mtv shouldn't have gone the reality route. The newer generation has no idea now what it was like when we had a channel that played videos around the clock (unless they pay an extra fee for the sister paid networks).
-
how can she be jumping on the band wagon when she IS the band wagon? R&B/Dance is her roots. This new generation of MTV NEWS writers need to read up before they speak up.
I didn't say she was jumping on the bandwagon. I was simply commenting on what MTV stated. I agree. She is the "bandwagon". Well said.
-
I think MTV articles are pretty accurate in their assessment of Madonna. Though, they are just speculation like the rest of the internet world that she's collaborated with LIL WAYNE. And even so, I think it's cool they actually say something positive about HARD CANDY.
As for "jumping on the bandwagon"... I find that quite silly since the beginning of her career, she's brought in people who were popular.... "Nile Rogers" and "Baby Face" anyone!!

According 2 the WEA database the following titles r on 'sell hold'
GHV2
TRUE BLUE
THE IMMACULATE COLLECTION
SOMETHING TO REMEMBER
so TIC is NOT deleted..Ouf
Interesting! U.S. ITUNES still has all of these albums available. Oddly... the tracks available for TIC are not the exact versions that are found on the CD format. Just various remixes or edits that have been available on other past formats. For instance, "Lucky Star"... it's the "U.S. Remix Version" from the 12 inch/Maxi single running @ 7:15. Another example "Like A Prayer" is actually the extended mix which is from the MAXI single. I guess to the casual fan it really doesn't matter since they could go to the original albums to buy the original mixes... but IMMACULATE COLLECTION was designed to offer something extra special to the songs yet keeping the originality intact to them.

The Pacha clip IS a remix.
