  1. neutrorocks, seriously, I have a lot of respect for you and I feel sorry for you when people gang up on you all the time, but Madonnatribe is renowned for posting only the most accurate of information on their news page. They have very reliable contacts within Madonna's camp and go to great lengths to ensure that people do not share leaks or even request leaked material on their forums so that they stay on good terms with their contacts. They refuse to allow ICON material that's limited to members only on their site because they support the right to subscribers to have sole access to this material. They hear the news well in advance of the rest of us, but they sit on it until they're given the green light to post it. If the info that they've posted about the track list and the versions used isn't correct, then it will be the first time that they've made a mistake like this and their credibility will be seriously damaged. They've worked hard to build an excellent reputation and they're not going to jeopardise it or their contacts by posting info that they're not completely sure about.

Of course, you have the right to await official confirmation from Madonna.com, but you're not going to appease your detractors by continually commenting on the lack of official sources cited by Madonnatribe. They're *always* first to reveal new track lists, set lists etc. and there's no reason to believe why this isn't the case this time around. I hope everyone will stop pouncing on you over this, but I also hope that you'll see the logic behind keeping quiet over it until you're satisfied about its authenticity.....

What I've learned is that people don't read what others post. They just interpret it the way they like and run with it, over-exaggerate and gang up on people to the point that they start threads attacking them in "The Lounge". Yes, I questioned if it's 'official', but not once did I say Madonnatribe ISN'T known for posting inaccurate info. I simply asked where is the official confirmation? That is all! This isn't a contest between fansites. Madonnatribe may be known for accurate info over the years. Hell, I don't doubt they are wrong about this either, but it isn't "official" unless there is some official source tied to it or a confirmation to back it up.

  2. That is true. Nothing has been confirmed yet, so I can still hold out hope! You are right that it is impossible to please everyone. I guess I should just go with the flow and just enjoy what comes our way regarding this collection. I can always do some tweaking with the tracklisting and I'm definitely going to make a 3rd disc too! Regardless of the outcome of any mixes or versions of songs used, I'm still going to buy a copy for sure!

By the way, I hope you don't mind that I chose to quote your posts! I've been a lurker for a couple of weeks and have seen that you're a diehard fan and very knowledgable and I like your style! :)

Thank you. I actually appreciate that you quoted me and wanted to discuss this in the manner you have. It's a breath of fresh air to know to see that some fans are willing to discuss things without getting unruly.

I think all any of us can do is just sit back and try to enjoy it. No amount of complaining is really going to change anything. It sounds like if this is indeed the set list, it's probably already pressed and all. ;)

And yes, if you're familiar with torrents, you'll be amazed at what you can acquire. That's how I got her complete single discography... well, up to "JUMP". I believe this torrent has been passed around before HARD CANDY was released. It also includes all the b-sides.

  3. I agree with you about making our own compilations, but the only problem is that it is very difficult to obtain most of the single versions of Madonna's hits. For example, how would I get my hands on the single versions of Causing A Commotion or Keep It Together? I know that these songs aren't on the compilation, but I've been dying to get my hands on those...lol.

Aren't the maxi-singles still available for sale? And if I wanted them that bad, there are a fair good of file sharing programs can get you those mixes. I know I downloaded her complete single discography earlier this year which included both single versions you speak of. I have the physical copies of all these singles, but it just seemed easier to download this bunch at once rather going through all my CD's and converting them.

  4. Oh being rude/nasty has zero to do with why you're a problem here. I can't make it any clearer for you. And the playing favorites comment is nonsense. I suggest you drop the innocent act and own up to the fact that you badger and irritate people. And no, I will not discuss anything with you via PM. When there's a problem I'm happy to finish it here. You PM'd me last time when I brought up your name publically because you had a problem with the way it was used. I am not your babysitter. Be an adult and we won't have a problem. Good day.

No, I've done nothing wrong. And you continuing it here after I kindly requested to take this to pm, only concludes what I thought all along regarding you being mod here. You're simply looking for a public stoning/fight! I pm'd you privately about the other issue and you mishandled it and you're doing the same here! I suggest you just pm me from this point on. That's the fair thing to do rather than dragging it out anymore in this thread. All other responses will go ignored! Thank you kindly!!

  5. I see what you are saying, but I think you may be underestimating just how many of her fans detest the Immaculate Collection versions of the songs. I have been a huge Madonna fan since practically day 1 and I can not stand to listen to The Immaculate Collection because of those horrible versions! I was not expecting new mixes of the songs for this collection, but I was hoping for the proper single versions of all of the songs as most fans were, from what I've seen online. I think that a large majority of people buying this new collection will be die hard fans and it seems that alot of us are going to be disappointed!

Or we could say, you are "over" estimating how much fans detest it. Either way, it's just subjective in the end. But I do understand your aversion to it being you do not like the mixes. I have no issue with that.

As for being "disappointed", I personally find it silly since nothing has been officially confirmed. And even so, it's clear some fans will never be happy. It's impossible to please all fans. Some songs will be left off while other songs that don't seem like they belong will be among it. And in this age, the GH's is pretty obsolete since we can pretty much assemble our own hits CD. ;)

  6. Whoopiedoo and Cosmic System, I love you guys, but you guys were being a tad nasty to Neut - cool it. Neither of you have ever done anything wrong before, don't become troublemakers because I don't wanna have to lay down the law on you guys like Judge Judy.

Neutrocks however, you are no angel yourself. In fact you are on way thinner ice than Whoopie and Cosmic. I've gotten about a million complaints about you since you started posting here, and out of laziness and indifference I never did anything about it (because before now I really just found you slightly annoying, but not really a troublemaker). But more and more your behavior is starting to become disruptive and outright bizarre to tell you the truth. Everybody understood the first time you expressed skepticism about... whatever it was you were pissed about. The tracklist. Fine. WE GOT IT. The fact that you had to smugly poke and provoke anyone and everyone who decided to express dissastisfaction (or satisfaction even) about the tracklist and its nooks and crannies is RIDICULOUS. This is the last time I'm coming in here to see what you've been up to. I don't wanna have to babysit a thread I don't give a fuck about. Either you clean up your act or I will happily clean it up for you. Thanks.

Sorry, but I've never been vulgar and disrespectful. Next time pm when you have a valid complaint about me, because other than sticking to my guns about certain topics, I've never been rude or nasty to people. Other than that, I will assume you're just playing favorites here. Surprise Surprise. If you have a follow up, please just pm me. I would agree it needn't to go any further here. Thanks!!

By the way, Whoopie and me are cool now. ;)

  7. Ah. I see. Thought cause it was soundtrack-related it wasn't necessarily meant for the album.

At the time I was annoyed DAD was on the album, I don't like when she repeats things. I wanted it to be all new material! :chuckle:

American Life is still considered the lead-off single though, right?

I guess it depends how one looks at it. But I don't recall DAD having mentioned it was a single for the FORTHCOMING album like "Live To Tell" was for True Blue. Then again, "DAD" was released far more in advance to the release of AL than "LIVE TO TELL" to True Blue.

Also, I just think of DAD's inclusion as a marketing ploy to get people to buy the album which included a top ten hit already.

  8. The fans are being duped if this collection is gonna have TIC recycled versions of tracks. Typical 00's Warner's/Madonna on half-assed auto pilot. I'd much rather have some time and dedication put into this Greatest Hits package seeing as GHV2 was a total waste of space. TIC was fantastic on it's own apart from the butchered LAP and ITG. She has one of the best music catalogue's in pop. If it's not gonna be done properly she should save herself the embarrassment if this is the quality of her future output and retire. I'd rather she released nothing under her name instead of this cheap tack. Why should we pay money for old rope?

You don't! But I suspect you will though. Die Hard fans will simply pick this up to add to their collection and for the two new songs. Casual fans probably won't even notice the differences in the songs and enjoy the fact they will get a lot of her great hits on one collection.

  9. Because THEY'RE NOT AS GOOD and AREN'T THE DEFINITIVE VERSIONS THAT WERE PLAYED ON THE RADIO

They are no substitute for the originals - whether that be the single versions (many of which HAVEN'T been properly released on CD, so pretty much impossible to source) or otherwise

And YES, we KNOW you can burn your own version

Well, Suedehead manage to beat me to it, but I agree with his follow up response to this. Most people grew up on those version on TIC. And if anyone should be outraged, it should be me since I was around when the original versions were released and grew up on them. Though, I never opposed the TIC when it was released. I welcomed them. I actually loved LAP version as it reminded me of the version that was performed on BAT.

In any event, we're getting to the point here that it's personal taste. And it seems that not everyone will be satisfied because as many people who may agree with you, also there are just as many if not more do not agree with you.

And you're right... there are "no substitutes for the originals", but you know what I can see a lot of fans getting pissed for just including the originals. In fact, I recall when all the set lists kept popping up in the past, people were hoping there would be something new to the songs, not just the originals. So I don't believe many people would be happy with just the LP or original mixes of these songs.

  10. We're not wanting them reworked! Just not the bloody TIC versions. Height of laziness.

Oh, but how is it different than just adding the LP versions? How is that any less lazy then?

What an odd argument to make when you can easily assemble your favorite versions yourself these days?? To me, a GREATEST HITS is pretty much an obsolete format since the digital age and the fact we can burn our own CD's now.

I think HG made a good point... the majority of them are LP cuts or their edits. Also, the majority of TIC versions aren't drastically different from the originally apart to the ones he mentioned.

  11. As I always reiterate, if the casual listener was listening to TIC version of "Borderline," Lucky Star," "Like a Virgin," "Material Girl," "Crazy For You," "Live to Tell," "Papa Dont Preach," "Open Your Heart," "La Isla Bonita," "Cherish" and "Vogue," they wouldn't know the difference between those versiosn and original album ones. Even "Holiday" and "Into the Groove," it may go over their heads. "Like a Prayer" and "Express Yourself" are the only ones that really have a "dramatic" difference in sound from their original versions/7" versions (yet the integrity is maintained).

So, as a fan of TIC and who always has appreciated its intent and impact, using 8 TIC versions is no problem for me- as I suspect it won't be for casual listeners, who would make up the bulk of potential "celebration" owners (which is limited to begin with, in this day and age of iTunes cherry-picking).

I don't see using TIC versions as anything horrid in celebrating her legacy- TIC was a very well-received album, critically and commercially. Sure, some mentioned the Q-sound effect and such, but it didn't detract from the enjoyment and summation of that era.

Well said!! I've always enjoyed TIC mixes as well. And being a die hard fan, I have all the other mixes if I want to listen to them. I'm just fascinated at the outrage over this though. I don't know many artists who re-work their songs (other than remastering) for a GH's set. And I would think the real differences will be noticed simply by die hard fans than any casual one buying this.

Another thing that I find fascinating is that if she re-worked these songs, what makes fans think they will like them anymore, especially those who didn't like what they did with TIC??

  12. Yes I am soo glad the original ITG was used ..and we don't have to hear that hideous piano breakown

I wonder... is the original from the film being used or the single version updated for radio?

I don't mind which versions they use. I have all the versions anyway. This GH's to me is simply a collection item. I never expected that anything significantly would be done to them other than maybe remastering. Most GH's from artists usually pluck songs form their catalog without much change.

Anyway, I am looking forward more to the new songs and the DVD the most!! As mentioned, the album is simply a collectors item for me.

  13. "like omg, no way!! Totally!!!"

just SHUT the fuck up you fucking piece of twat.

i am sick and tired of hearing your fucking stupid ass remarks

its bullshit, take a fucking chill pill

madonnatribe is the fucking cnn of madonna news, their status is soooooo high up there, that they would never make up fake news stories, that's low, thats lower than a security guard.

yes, they may not be a fucking official source, unless they post an interview they conducted theirselves, then it becomes official.

But if you look at MadonnaTribe's record, you will notice that they have been right 100% of the time.

That's why everyone here and around other fucking forums are taking this tracklist and information as the truth. get use to it bitch, cause shit like this is gonna be happening more often in the future, and if you dont like it, i suggest you leave all Madonna forums for good, roll up in a ball, and listen to your janet jackson records in your rhythm nation 1814 outfit. cause i bet that'll be more satisfying for you.

    BYEEEEEEE-EEE!!!!

HOLIDAY GUY.... Really, this has crossed the line. I have not once use vulgar language, did any name calling here. All my posts have been civil and respectful. I simply question the authenticity of the source. I've been civil about it. Instead I get told "shut the fuck up", Laughed at constantly, and other vulgarity thrown at me. This is just plain bullying on these people. I've done NOTHING wrong here. And I resent the fact that I am being the one outcasted for bringing up a genuine logical question. In fact, other members have question the track listing as well, but I don't see those people harassed. This is just ridiculous that I get attacked. I am not trying to fight with anyone. I am trying to have a civil conversation. All my responses have been in response of what someone said to me, so if it appears I am fighting, I am not. You have to look back to see who started name calling and such.

I will remain civil and calm about this because I refuse to stoop to such levels of name calling, etc. Again, I've done nothing wrong here, yet it seems some people can scream obscenities because I simply ask "where is the official confirmation" and told I am a broken record when they cannot even provide an official confirmation.

We all are here for the same reason... Madonna. I'm tired of people attacking others because they dare to ask genuine and intelligent questions.

  14. like a broken record.

    :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

No different than you. Again... "like a broken record" give me an official confirmation that this track listing is coming from and I'll be glad to shut the fuck up.

What's funny is to me is how worked up some of you are getting over this set list and the mixes/version used when you cannot even cite an official confirmation. :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

  15. I'm creating a twitter acount as we speak and im going to make a complaint to Guy O

then im going to e-mail Liz with the same complaint.

As loony as that sounds, im doing it. So that when the CD is release and they see the fan's true reactions, i'll go " i told you so."

So your going to email and twitter these people based on a track listing provided by a fan site with no official confirmation?? LOL!!

  16. I despise you. You're one of the most annoying person EVER.

Ban me but I have to say this. FUCK OFF!

LOL!!! You can't provide an official confirmation, but you berate for me for asking for one! LOL!

Maybe it's best for you to put me on "ignore" if I annoy you that much. Lord knows, I am here just trying to get an official confirmation on the track list and have an intelligent discussion here without throwing obscenities at people because they bring up a genuine point.

And no one is going to ban you... this forum thrives on the behavior you display. But you'll never ever see me resort to such name calling and belittling. That's why I will always be unpopular here. Because I can be respectful without name calling and bashing people for having an opposing opinion.

  17. The real problem is that Warner owns those masters, not Madonna. Its just like Prince has total control over his post-Warner material because he owns them outright, but Warner can do whatever they want with the material he recorded for them. That was the biggest reason for his breakup with them, he wanted ownership of his mastertapes (like The Rolling Stones do with their post-1970 material) and they wouldn't sell them.

However, I do hope in the future that we see some amazing retrospectives like a box set loaded with rarities, and maybe a collection of remixes kinda like what Warner did for Depeche Mode when they were leaving them.

It just amazes me that artists like Michael Jackson, Prince and Madonna do not have full ownership of their masters. But I do understand that every artist must start somewhere which means they are going to lose some control over their stuff when being signed to a big corporation.

  18. Lazy :(

Really? How much different could they have made them without just re-working them all together? Honestly, I've never heard many greatest hits where a lot of effort was put into re-working the songs. While I understand some of us may not like some of the mixes/versions used, but I expected that the songs weren't going be new mixes.

Anyway, we still have no confirmation this is even the official track listing, so we'll have to wait and see what the GH really includes!

  19. Warner has released a few Prince collections without his consent. I actually remember him telling fans NOT to buy "The Very Best Of Prince" because he had no say on that release.

Of course, the difference with Madonna and Prince is that Madge is parting on friendlier terms, but still.... money is money, and I see no reason why they won't milk Madonna for all she's worth the way they have with Prince and Sony has with Michael Jackson (with MJ, Sony released a single disc GH, a 2 disc GH and a box set in less than 2 years time).

So you don't think Madonna has a tighter grip on her catalog than Prince and Michael Jackson? You're probably right, but if I was Madonna (or any of those other artists), I would have made sure I had full disclosure and consent of what they do with my songs. But I guess, not even the biggest mega stars can control their catalog.

  20. God, did you question everything in life? Geez.

That's the official tracklist, we'll get 2 new songs, period. You sound like a broken record.

Look dude, there is no official confirmation that tracklist is real yet. Bark at me all you want about me being a "broken record", but if you want me to shut the hell up about it, give me an "official confirmation" from an actual official source. MadonnaTribe is NOT an official source. As for the "2 New Songs", I didn't say we weren't getting "2 New songs", I simply pointed out that Madonna.com does not state "2 New Songs".

I think the fact Madonnalicious not posting this tracklist on their news site, proves there is no "official confirmation!"
