haha i love it! they are absolutely adorable and i am sure you are their favorite teacher! what do the parents say?
The parents LOVE it. No one (thus far) seems to have a problem with it.

Aw. Well done as always, LatinAmericanIdol!
Thank you! I was THIS close to asking you about editing a few songs for us, but we managed. I'm still very grateful that you helped us out with TUTBMP a while back :-)

A question: why did you chose that remix for Ray of Light instead of the regular chorus?
At first, I DID use the regular version of ROL. It started off with the guitar intro and the kids moving their glow sticks slowly before bursting into high-speed. However, that version was almost a minute long and YouTube blocked it. I had to trim the clip to less than 30 secs, and I felt safer using a remix to avoid being blocked again. I also had to trim down the clips for "Dear Jessie," "Material Girl," and "Rain." It hurt to butcher it down, but I had to make those modifications for YouTube purposes.

Thank you!!! I personally have a soft spot for "U is for umbrella" because it gave us a chance to recreate that last umbrella scene from the "Rain" video

So we just came up with another Madonna-insprired project where we had our kindergartners reinvent the alphabet with 26 Madonna songs. I tried to make it a point to use at least one song from every studio album. The kids LOVED working on this project and it's so gratifying to hear them randomly singing Madonna songs throughout the day (as well as seeing them eagerly learn their letters). It's kinda fun for adults to watch too :-)

You should tweet it to Madonna. She has to appreciate it!
I send every video we make over to her and Guy Oseary. No word. I doubt she's seen them, but they're fun to make anyway :-)

So, in addition to "Bedtime Story" we also used an instrumental of "Dress You Up" for a makeover-type of scene where the kids create a costume to impersonate their teacher in a ploy to break out of school. It comes complete with a shameless "Truth or Dare" plug...
-
I burst up laughing! That was adorable! In my opinion, the children's voices made the song sound more haunting. Great job!
Glad it could make you laugh :-) "Haunting" is a good word :-) It took several tries before we could get it to sound like that. I was trying to blend it into M's voice.

Cute! Your students are lucky to have a creative, Madonna-crazed teacher.
Haha! And they love it. What's so great is that kids don't discriminate. They like what they like, and they LOVE the Madonna songs I've taught them. We also learned parts of "Dress You Up" for the movie, but it wasn't working out too well in the end with their vocals, so I used an instrumental instead. Perhaps I'll post tomorrow...

Thanks :-) It really was a lot of fun to make. The hardest part was getting them to sing in a hushed tone since they like to be a little loud. And now that they've learned the song, they no longer tell me that they're sleepy. They'll say, "I'm sleepy. I want to get unconscious"

We're up to our shenanigans again and I had the kindergarteners remake "Bedtime Story" for our class film! Nightmares never looked so cute!

LOL!! Not sure if this one is quite what #artforfreedom is looking for, but Not4Pussies DID encourage me to submit another one of our videos, so we did. I have not sent this to Guy O, but when I got to meet him at the Macy's event in LA, I was able to tell him about the attention that "Vogue" and "TUTBMP" got and he was very nice about it. He congratulated me and shook my hand

I really appreciate how kind and supportive Mnation has been of our work. Thank you! I love doing this, and it's even better that the kids actually REALLY love the Madonna songs I teach them. They sing the songs to themselves often. Maybe subliminal messages like "Keep Calm and Vogue" (like the girl in the video) help things sink in as well ;-)

So, we started our little Rainbow Fish musical with "Who's That Girl" and ended with "Nothing Really Matters." She shared her scales with other fish and received their friendship in return, so the song seemed to fit the theme. The lesson learned: everything I give you all comes back to me...
-
Thank you :-) We have our fair share of data and assessments too (which I hate), so something like this gives me (and the kids) something to look forward to. I'm able to justify it because I'm addressing arts standards and developing oral language and reading comprehension. They also learn to work together and support each other, which is a big plus as well. We ended our play with "Nothing Really Matters." I'll share that soon!

New school year means new Madonna songs to teach! We just wrapped up our kindergarten play, "The Rainbow Fish," and our opening number was M's "Who's That Girl"...
-
I definitely see traces of Bette, but that hair is very Barbara Stanwyck. I love it :-)
-
I just uploaded my footage of her speech in San Jose on October 6th filmed from the triangle. Unfortunately, my phone died soon afterward and I couldn't film "Everybody" :-(
-
I still love the movie, but I think certain scenes could have been better. I'm still baffled by the editing of DCFMA and I never understood cutting away from her during the 1st chorus. The scene where she passes out taking communion feels too abrupt. And I think the movie would have been fine without "The Lady's Got Potential."

Thanks for posting Gang Bang! Here's another one. With snippets of Like a Prayer & Cherish...
-
I love it. Definitely worthy of publication :-)
-
If there's any interest, here's the 13 minute-film. It literally has one Madonna reference after another and the grand finale is "Cherish." And if anyone is a fan of Garbage, Bjork, or Blondie, they're a part of the soundtrack too...
-
WooHoo!!! Thanks you guys. More good news to share with the kiddos today :-) And Mattress, yes, A LOT went into making this video (and heck, the whole 13 minute film). It took several weeks of filming and a millions hours of editing, but it was a blast and we enjoyed every minute. I'm grateful it's getting some recognition.

WATCH: Kindergarteners Pay Tribute To Madonna With “This Used To Be My Playground”
Honestly, Madonna needs to be a requirement in all elementary curricula.

Awesome! Thank you for sharing. :-)

It was a little surprising to see which songs they loved best (but that could do with the music videos themselves). The really LOVED Give it 2 Me, Jump, Open Your Heart, and Ray of Light. I posted the video on some education pages and it seems to be getting passed around. Many teachers have already told me they're using in their classrooms and the kids love it.
