  1. fbuddy, a Kylie loon? Get OUTTA here. :gent:

Come on now, tho- it's not like she went heavy metal or "Bedtime Story" on her audience. :) It's the usual light fare, and it's still pop.

HEHE served! :gent:2 Hearts will get a Top Ten on downloads alone, pretty respectable, but not for Kylie standars I guess, possible Top 3 with the CD.

In more interesting news :vanitybonet: Gimme More may spend another week on the Top Ten so Blackout.

  2. I don't think any announcement has been made- I'd hardly expect any follow-up singles to do much at radio. She ain't got the bestest airplay track record, after all.

Actually an announcement was released on Britney's official page. Piece Of Me is the 2nd single. And yeah, I see it doing as good/bad as Gimme More did or even worse on airplay. As for downloads it will sell decent.

  3. Revised Chart Policy Lands Eagles At No. 1

The Eagles' first new studio album in 28 years, "Long Road Out of Eden," takes a short route to No. 1 on The Billboard 200 after Billboard revised a significant chart policy today (Nov. 7).

In consultation with Nielsen SoundScan, Billboard will now allow exclusive album titles that are only available through one retailer to appear on The Billboard 200 and other charts, effective with this week's charts. Prior to this, proprietary titles were not eligible to appear on most Billboard charts.

Early SoundScan numbers have the Eagles taking the top perch on The Billboard 200 with 711,000 copies sold, with most sales moved by Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores. For now, the only other U.S. outlets carrying "Eden" are walmart.com, where both physical copies and downloads are sold, and the Eagles' own Web site.

"Eden" became available at the mass-market chain Oct. 30. Aside from two compilations, this is the Eagles' first album since the mostly live "Hell Freezes Over," which led The Billboard 200 for two weeks in 1994.

Britney Spears' new Jive album, "Blackout," which would have been No. 1 had the Eagles' data not been reported, will open at No. 2 with first-week sales of 290,000 copies.

"We know that some retailers will be uncomfortable with this policy, but it was inevitable that Billboard's charts would ultimately widen the parameters of to reflect changes that are unfolding in music distribution," says Geoff Mayfield, Billboard's director of charts. "We would have preferred to make this decision earlier, but only became aware within the last 24 hours that Wal-Mart would be willing to share the data for this title with Nielsen SoundScan."

The revised policy initially impacts The Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums, where "Eden" will also bow at No. 1. Criteria for the remainder of Billboard's albums charts will be formulated later this week. A handful of other titles will debut this week on The Billboard 200 as a consequence of the policy revision.

Previously, titles that were not generally available at retail were not eligible to appear on The Billboard 200, but were entitled to chart on Billboard's Top Comprehensive Albums, which includes catalog titles and proprietary albums from retailers willing to report those sales.

The comprehensive chart will continue to appear on Billboard.biz, to show how catalog titles compete with the overall market. However, once parameters for the remainder of the album charts are determined, Top Comprehensive Music Videos will be discontinued, as exclusive titles will then be eligible for the Nielsen SoundScan-fed Top Music Videos.

  4. And the Nielsen numbers are not finalized, but it looks like the Eagles's new album will nearly double the sales of the so-so comeback by Britney Spears (705k to 328k). Spears will debut on #1 on the Billboard 200 only because Soundscan does not accept sales figures from department stores like Walmart.
  5. Exactly! The media is going to spin this to make it look like Britney flopped. But 300k is nothing to sniff at either, especially for someone who is getting negative press virtually every single day. I always thought that the Eagles would be a threat to her when I heard they had an album coming out at the same time. I wasn't aware until the past week that they would only be selling it in Wal-Mart, thus making it ineligible to chart (at the time anyways). You just can't ignore 700k though, if Billboard hadn't decided to make it eligible there credibility (or what's left of it) would've been seriously compromised.

Changing the rule of all sudden could hurt them as well. And this "not deserving #1 album" is good for Britney too :p

  6. No, they are not.

HITS is not the same as Billboard.

But :dramatic: Look at this HDD quote:

"The Long Road Out of Eden leads to the #1 best-selling album in the country this week, but the Eagles won’t be topping the HITS Album chart.

That dubious honor will go to Britney Spears’ Blackout this week, even though it won’t sell half of Eden’s estimated 700k."

And all of sudden they included them :manson::rolleyes: I fear Billboard would do that! :sneaky:

  7. Britney has never had a number one album in the UK, and this is a great position for her. However not hitting no. 1 doesn't mean her albums don't sell: all her albums have done at least 400,000 and she has 3 multi-platinum albums. So how this fares in the coming weeks is more important than the initial chart position.

Yeah, In The Zone had a great chart run :doofus: And this is definetely an improvement from ITZ's peak.
