Madonna has to take care of her voice. She sounded the same in the clip rehearsal. She focuses on many important aspects and this one seems relegated.

That's important for the public too. The voice. So next time maybe among the fresh face, the boots or the visuals, tge voice is given a thought too.

I don't mean her concert voice. I mean her "TV performances voice". She's got weeks to train this.

I completely agree and said the same earlier on this thread or another. I do not care what anyone says. Madonna simply has to sing better next time she is on tv . No playback. No auto tune and all these machines. Nobody cares that she has no vast vocal range. Only the haters nit pick and the rest used to be able to say it does not matter. She has a distinctive voice Many great artists don't have technically perfect voices. But on Eurovision it was a mess. Listen to her on Gambler at the virgin tour. It is still the Madonna with the voice that many insulted but it was quintessentially Madonna. That is all we want. The raw Madonna. I do believe Mike Dean and her ear piece share blame. I am not solely blaming her but it is also clear that she is just not training her vocals these days.

Also we are mad when they use madonna's age to insult her. Can people here stop saying she is 60, Stop expecting her to blah blah blah. Stop using her age as a defense.

Talk shows do nothing for sales to be fair . America is not there for her anymore , I’m surprised she’s even doing the theatre dates there . Despite last nights controversies I think Europe is still much more there for her .

She literally just sold out how many shows in America and added dates because of demand and you are saying America is not there for her anymore? How do you figure? Because we are not toddlers streaming like it is oxygen so she can get so and so equivalent units and top the charts?

The charts are not the judge of anything these days. Yes we want her to sell lots of records but to claim America is not there for her anymore when she is still selling out shows, makes no sense.

I am a fan of Madonna and nobody needs to preach to me about her admirable IDGAF attitude that everyone of us knows too well.

Of course it is her career. Did I ever say it wasn't hers?

NEVER have I said that "she cannot be political the way she wants to" or "she should just sing and dance exactly like this or like that blablabla". Every sane Madonna fan is totally cool with her being bold, brave, provocative and rebellious, this is SELF-EVIDENT hello.

The problem with her Eurovision performance, in our opinion, is not the activism PER SE but the poor execution, what people get was a horrid karaoke version of "Like a Prayer" and sorry we will not force ourselves to find THAT enjoyable. She brought a message for the Palestinian cause? Great. But Madonna is FIRST AND FOREMOST a musical artist, that is how history will primarily remember her for, and sadly the musical aspect of this performance was poor.

As fans, we are allowed to have expectations and to HOPE for things we personally prefer, and as a magnificent artist but also a human being, most of the times Madonna made us happy, and sometimes she misses the mark AND THAT IS OKAY in the whole bigger picture of life. What is so hard to comprehend?

Thank you. You saved me the trouble.

  4. I would like for her to address her voice. It has happened to so many and they all addressed it. When we act like it is just the same old sexist ageist Madonna bashing we have suffered the last thirty years, which 70% of it probably is but there is a bonafide criicism of her vocals on the night and an unnecessary use of autotune in a show with amateurs and you are the Queen. I mean it was just wrong decisions galore in my humble opinion. Song choice. Quavo. LAP arrangement wasn't even Met Gala to the T. The presentation yes but not the music.

I was defending her to my friends and they were like, how can you defend that vocal performance? I couldn't. It's a valid criticism on the night even though the haters are going overboard.

ALL the so called vocalists have had bad days. So our girl who they can't stop telling us, can not sing, can have a bad day too. I am just hoping she realizes that this was a more than sub par performance and doesn't become all defensive and combative thinking it's just her usual critics.

You had a bad day M. Drink some lemon tea. Start those vocal coaching lessons again. It's a theater tour this time. None of us are coming there to hear auto tune and vocoders in a small theater. I was watching Gambler from the Virgin Tour and Deeper and Deeper from The Girlie Show. Madonna CAN SING. I just do not know when she got lazy with her voice and started relying on these playbacks and auto tune effects etc.

  5. Somebody in Madonna's circle needs to remind her she is an artist first and foremost and via her art she is an activist. She does art because she is a talented artist. She doesn't do art because she is an activist looking to get a message across. The difference may be subtle but it is there.

She rushed through LAP. Did not sing it like it was at MET GALA so she could get preachy on Future which was an inappropriate song for Eurovision in the first damn place. You have an album coming out for the first time in four years and you have an audience of 200m watching you and your priority is to pick the song that suits your "message?" NO. Superbowl she sang Like a Prayer and at the end flashed world peace. She could have sang I Rise with a full orchestra sitting in one spot so her voice would be great, and passed on a message with that. She could have electrified the audience with Medellin and then added LAP and her message. There is a whole host of things. Her new single is Crave. Who gets the opportunity to show your new single to 200m people and chooses to sing some random reggae teaser song because it matches the "message?'

She is getting carried away with this message and activist business. The beauty of Madonna is that she has always been that person. The artist activist. The activist artist. But it never affects her art. Now it has. She should have been more interested in putting on a damn great performance as the artist that she is and incorporating her message to it. Instead here it seems her priority is how do I get a message across and everything else will have to fit into that. That is why we had to suffer Quavo who did not know one madonna song and said his Mama used to listen to her.

I am sick. Imma need Debi Mazar to knock some sense into her. Somebody has to.

  6. The morning after the night before. I had to sleep to escape twitter. I spend far too much of my time defending Madonna so I can never be accused of being a negative nancy. So I am just going to state MY truth. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. This is mine.

It was off! I was excited the minute it began because I do like the MET Gala presentation of LAP. But they cut the chanting short I think. Also Darren Hayes may be on to something because she was definitely off key and she even mispronounced two words. That's when I knew she was nervous. It was a pitchy performance. What makes me sad is that I have no doubt Madonna herself is more disappointed in herself than we are. She is a perfectionist. She knows that was not it.

I never liked the Future song but I was hoping the performance would help. It didn't. That song is in my opinion, nothing. Has no business on her album and how she has a dance song with drag queens and didn't think Eurovision is the place to showcase that is truly beyond me. I am not one of those obsessed with the disco stomper. After all, I Rise is my fave of all released so far but there is a thing called knowing your market.

For me it seemed like she rushed through Like a Prayer because she couldn't wait to do Future and get her message across. Madonna can sing, perform and get her message across. We do not have to pick one. She is the Queen of doing all three.

M has never been a vocalist but this was particularly bad and I am just tired of the looming negativity. Yes it is same old same old.But I am allowed to be sad about it.

No one will remember that Mariah who has nothing but her vocals flopped and came back to show she still has some kind of range. At least Madonna has a lot more to offer than just vocals. Let's hope somewhere during the promo, M sings live and shows she still can. She needs to start rehearsing that as much as anything else.

Also, I am tired of her using all these vocoders and so on. I wish she would stop working with these new age producers and go back to working with musicians like Patrick Leonard. That's just my opinion. She is the greatest and will forever be in my eyes and I will continue to defend her. Just needed to say my piece in our safe place so i do not give the haters fodder to run with.

😞  I’m a bit worried that millions of people who have witnessed this performance will now focus on how “she can’t sing”. I don’t understand what happened? She always did great with Like a Prayer!!!

This is my problem and I have been in heated arguments on twitter about this very issue up until a few minutes before her performance. So I just can't venture to that place right now.

  8. I can't even read twitter. Imma let this one go. Loved everything about Like A Prayer. She did sound shaky but not as bad as twitter is making it out to be. That Future song was not the song for this event. I can not say it enough times. Oh well.

  9. Madonna has not even taken to the stage and WiWI blogs or whatever they are called have already started with the, Madonna is not singing live and she is singing with playback and people are angry. Smdh.

I hope she sings live because neither song is difficult for her.

Future has a hit potential written all over it!! Amazing song.

If Future is a hit I will slap myself. I will of course be happy for Madonna because my personal preferences are no overall judgment of her art in general and I consider her unrivaled. But If Future is a hit, I will slap myself and post a video of me doing just that.
