    So incredibly naive.

Eurovision is allowing itself to be used by a billionaire who has admitted that it's his mission to change public perception of his human rights abusing country by using his money to do it. Had they said "no thanks" then you might have a point.

That I have to even explain the ins and outs of the dangers of allowing the arts to be hijacked by political propaganda, in this case, the apparatus of a semi-apartheid state using a tacky gay song contest, is baffling but not entirely unexpected.

In Madonna's case, she is going there to promote her record and collect her ridiculous paycheck, unless I missed the announcement that she's doing it for free or donating it all or better yet told them NO.

My values and integrity don't change just because my favourite pop star decides to do something.

This is spot on, people on this forum have a hard time ever admitting she does anything wrong... This is one of those issues that's going to be looked on incredibly negatively in her career for years to come and one that completely contradicts her whole "standing up for the disenfranchised" messaging. She's a smart woman who knows exactly what's happening in the area and her refusal to see her wrongdoings here is incredibly disappointing but I guess some increased exposure for new music and an extra million dollars in her pocket is worth the terrible judgement.

  2. I'm in the minority here, but as a Palestinian I'm disappointed in this move. Alot of people are saying this has nothing to do with Israel and that's it's all about the contest but the same wouldn't have been said if the contest was held in Apartheid South Africa.

A country that sterilizes it's African population and commits yearly war crimes killing thousands of children and imprisoning a minority population in an open air prison really doesn't go hand in hand with Madonna's whole message of peace.

I just really hope she at least acknowledges Palestinians/makes some critique of the government's current policies during her performance.

... and yet those RH leaks started the very same way. Verbal descriptions and lyrical snippets made their way into press reports, and then the flood gates of audio files opened — first one set of demos, then a huge second wave, and a final trickle of the last few (with alternate takes on some previously leaked demos).

So, yes, please be careful if this is legit info.

Just removed the lyrics in my original post since I didn't know that's how things started spreading for RH (so please feel free to delete them in the quoted responses too).

Don't want to make it easier for press to get ahold of this stuff

well if that's true you better keep it locked up and not share it with anyone (because believe me, many will request you to sent it to them and even do favours just to get their hands on it.) you put yourself out there now, so better be ready to deny all requests, otherwise if something leaks, it'll link back to you and ur friend. if true, ur friend took a huge risk

And yet you’re talking about it so openly. Brace yourself 😂

Figured revealing this much is the same as any insider revealing album rumors, def won't even consider posting the file online

well shes done well not leaking anything yet so fingers crossed it stays this way

And I hope the fans have learned their lessons, my friend sent me a :40 snippet of a song his friend recorded while working with Madge last year and I haven't even sent it to any of my friends because of how paranoid I am after rebel heart

I’m still frustrated with what I’m reading on here. What is the big deal if Madonna performs in Israel? Some of you fail to see the connection there, are you guys serious? Madonna has visited Israel a lot in the past, for professional as well as spiritual reasons! She is a Kabbalist after all. Have some of you forgotten? Wtf??

Ask her Palestinian fans who tried to go to her attend her "peace" concert in Israel only to be turned away at the wall in the West Bank. Ask the thousands like my grandparents who were forcibly removed from their homes in Palestine (now Israel) who are never allowed to return.

Choosing to perform there is choosing to support a government that bombs UN hospitals despite international warnings and cuts off food and electricity access to its occupied Palestinian territories, people saying there's no difference between her performing in the US or Israel are dead wrong. It's nice to be privileged enough not to deal with these issues and look at them from the outside in like it's no big deal...

    shes done it before

Unfortunately, and while I do appreciate her speaking up for Palestinians, meeting with the war criminal (Netanyahu) that's continuing to make their lives a living hell is not a good look and I thought she'd put that behind her after the Trump presidency.

But again, this could all be hearsay and might turn out to be a stupid rumor...

What if she makes a great speech about peace and love?

Seems a bit hypocritical for her to be talking about peace and love in one of the most racist nations in the world. When you have people like Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu who have lived through the brunt of the South African conflict, call Israel an apartheid state, maybe you should reconsider your relationship with the country.

There's a reason Obama caused a riff between the US and Israel and Trump decided to become their biggest ally. Also no one's even mentioned the over 2,000 Palestinian children that have been murdered since 2000 but I guess exposure is more important than supporting people living in an open air prison...

Eurovision has something in common: is about celebrating music. Politics are FORBIDDEN in the show (that's why Ukranian entry that won was so critisised). It would be absurd to have any backslash about Eurovision because ALL THE ARTISTS from ALL THE European Broadcasting Televisions will be there. Nobody is doing any boycott to the show, no matter if any embassy is moved to Jerusalem or even if something happened there. It is not the first time it takes place in Israel either.

But anyway, I doubt this rumour will be true, it is not the first time we talk about it since Timberlake's performance.

On paper yes, but it's also the same contest that banned the Palestinian flag from ever being flown in the competition so it's really hard to differentiate it from politics. Having it be hosted in Israel this year just amplifies their erasure of Palestinians

what's the point if it'll all turn to backlash? I can't believe you're actually thinking this is a good idea. read the article. it's simply out of touch to even think about agreeing to perform there (as a non contestant). people already protested it months ago, including the frontman of pink floyd. what do you think will happen when we're getting closer to eurovision?

The people who support this arent doing their research SMH. worst idea ever. hopefully M is not as out of touch

Completely agreed, I know Madonna's been a huge admirer of Israel in the past but really thought she'd shift gears with everything happening in the past few years. Her performance there would be incredibly disappointing from a personal and human rights perspective...

Let's not forget what happened with Lana Del Rey when she was slated to perform at a festival in Israel and got dragged through the mud until she cancelled... I'm really hoping this news isn't accurate.
