Remember this #fakenews from DL a while back?

Beautiful Game This is scheduled to be the first single. She performed part of it at the Met Gala, but it sounds different here. It’s produced by Mirwais, and there is annoying knob tuning all throughout the song. It’s basically a rehash of “Die Another Day.”

Dos Hermanos Half of the song is sung in Spanish. It’s about two brothers who get separated because of immigration laws. It’s slow, her voice is pretty moving, but the song sounds like a parody of a white lady trying to be Hispanic. It’s not “La Isla Bonita”. It’s just cringe.

Risky Places I think this is another Mirwais track, and it sounds like Madonna is channeling Iggy Azalea here. She raps about places where she likes to have sex with the risk of getting caught: the golf course, church, her father’s basement, a cemetery, a pet shelter, and even Kendrick Lamar’s bedroom. I wish I could say this track is a parody. But….

Turn Back Time Another ballad here. Out of all the songs, this one is the only decent one. It’s actually quite touching, and is written with someone named John Henry. It’s bound to be controversial as she imagines herself going back in time to stop herself from getting an abortion. She talks about all the things her aborted child missed: little league, school field trips, video games, football practice, etc. But I can’t imagine how her fans, who are mostly pro-choice, will receive this.

Smartgun I don’t keep up with rap much, sorry, but I think it’s a duet with Nicki Minaj. It references a black teenager being shot for having a smartphone, which the police thought was a gun. Madonna sings the part of what’s going through the teenager’s mind, while (Nicki?) raps as the racist police officer (“I’m a white thug,” she keeps repeating). It sounds like a Fox News parody of well-meaning liberals.

Persistence “If you want something, you have to ask for it,” Madonna repeats throughout the song. The concentration is more on the music than any lyrics. Sort of like “Animals” by I forgot his name. It reminded me of something from the 2013 movie Gravity.

I'd turn in my madonna badge

Hhhh is it already 6 your time?

    not yet 😉

its been 4 years since the last album and there really werent any major projects in between. plus shes older now and not cranking out albums like a new star or something. i can see her putting out music but not in the original studio album sense...there will be original songs but not 12-15...if we thought 4 years is long...we are in for a surprise moving forward.

if her new album is fresh and dope and gets people taking in a good way again---then maybe she'll follow up with something sooner that just my 2 cents.

These four years have been particularly painful. I don't post often on here, but I'm on every single day always hoping to hear sometime, but day after day it is another disappointment.  I'm not sure if it is just me getting older, but from taking 18 months from the recording of the RHT to the actual release of the recording, which was around 2 1/2 years after the release of the actual album...and now a year ago today that she was in the studio, but still NO news. ... It's just really frustrating for long-term fans (since 1986 here). The last decade has been one delay after another, missed opportunity after missed opportunity, more and more backlash, all the while allowing her legendary status to be minimized by the press and the world to the point where they are trying to erase and minimize her legacy ... and she nor anybody in her team seem to care - in fact, it seems as though they are all TRYING to throw it all away. I practically expect the entire roll out to be a complete and total disaster, just like the last few eras. I know how lucky we are to have a living legend still releasing albums and being active, but PLEASE, give us something...

I feel you. I jumped on here after the met gala performance thinking it was time for the special pre-album news gossip and such...but theres nothing. no offical title or release date.

the consistent backlash in my opinion started around 2011/2012when caca was at her peak madonna cos play phase. its fans were much more social media conscience and immature to look at the situation correctly. there are have been just so many negative madonna conversations  related to her age. i would point out examples of her legacy and relevance and change minds but theres a cynisim out there towards her. maybe because shes the top female artists career people point to---like shes already won, no need to be nice.

Take this with a pinch of salt but a Madonna fan I started talking to recently who seems to have some info regarding a change in schedule and the reasons for it. I'm not sure if there is any truth to this but wanted to share anyway since it is pretty interesting. Appearently the record was ready to be released August 2018, it was produced by her and Mirwais  but somewhere along the way it was decided (not by her from what I understood) that it didn't include any hits or any song that would appeal to the mainstream. M was really passionate about the version of the album that was going to be released in August and is sort of dissapointed. Now the album, set to be released on April, is  more of a mixed bag with no clear direction, more than a few songs were scrapped in favor of  songs added more aimed to the market.  Dissapointing info in terms of how much control Madonna has over the release of her albums, so I hope it is not true.

If we were in 2008, 2012 or 2015 I can see that being the case.... but trying to appeal to mainstream top 40 sound doesn't seem to be working for her. Overall shes a mainstream artist---its baked into the cake. Her deeper and more artistic efforts usually pan out with the exception of American Life

    Latest news:

It has been confirmed that Madonna's upcoming new album, the title of which will soon be revealed, will feature a number of songs recorded in a studio where people played instruments. For the album, Madonna will also be singing. It is likely that people will be able to listen to these songs once the album is finally released.

she sings on all her albums and of course we will be able to listen when the album is released! lol I really like the instruments part!

    Very well-said, Kurt420.

Madonna fans should bear in mind that a quality album does not guarantee to make commercial success.

but it helps its chances...word of mouth and some good PR can give her a hit album. at this point though I dont expect a hit i expect the same sort of track as last few albums. would be nice if i wasnt the only one in my group of friends gushing about the new madonna album.

would be nice to be an actual planned out double album...looong overdue!

too many tracks can dilute the entire theme of the album. 13 tracks or less. MDNA had a few too many  and RH --i mean the original concept would have been interesting to see but we ultimately ended up with 35+ tracks and too many different sounds. classic albums stay under 13 tracks 🙂
