Agree. She had the respect of the public because she bowed down to the title of grandma and did not dare to imply anything else. Madonna on the other hand, refuses ro play along to society‘s rules. dont ever change M!

That's not really the angle I was going for, regarding Tina Turner... That was more than 30 years ago, and Tina was playing against the rules in her way, following her own career path and her image and status. I certainly don't think Madonna's way is the only correct way to do things, especially for things that happened almost before Madonna's time. Tina Turner has certainly never bowed down to anything.

  2. trying to think who has been scrutinized for their age before Madonna... I am sure a lot of women in music and film have but they kind of disappeared altogether because of how bad ageism was.... or they did the roles of ancient hags (Bette Davis was 54 at the time she did What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, that's how 50 was perceived as back then..!)... but then in the 80's Tina Turner reached the height of her fame in her mid 40's and her nickname was The Grandma of Rock'n'roll .... LOL, and she was still a young woman... but in her case, she wasn't attacked for performing in a mini dress, she was just perceived as a grandma and an old lady but she had the respect of the public.

Madonna must team with huge strraming artist to chart

not sure if this would work... Fans of these artists won't necessarily stream the Madonna song just because of the person featured on the track. These rappers already have  a ton of their own songs that have huge streaming, and their fans will probably be more into their singles, compared to just a feat. they did with Madonna. I mean, Champagne Rose didn't really do that well in streaming even if it got the same chance as the Quavo album tracks without Madonna. It hasn't worked so far and I doubt it would work in the future.

Release the album after the third single.

And loads of physical formats! I'll buy the lot!

This is a good idea if the second and third single are the strongest.... if only the first song is a strong lead, by the time the album comes out the interest will have faded already... If they have a strong lead, the album could be released right away.

It’s high on iTunes and low on streaming because those are Madonna fans buying the song, it seems like his fans weren’t here for it and he has a way bigger streaming force, more in Apple Music than Spotify, anyway at least she will earn a few coins for this.

yes, I also think that's the reason.... Quavo's album had 99,000 album-equivalent units and just 6,000 came from pure album sales, so he's definitely a streaming artist

can you please share the source please (link preferably). Is it Billboard charts?

Yes, it's data from the Billboard charts

    Hot 100 Rank

    • No. 48, "Flip the Switch," feat. Drake
    • No. 53, "Workin Me"
    • No. 61, "Pass Out," feat. 21 Savage
    • No. 86, "Biggest Alley Oop"
    • No. 88, "Rerun," feat. Travis Scott
    • No. 93, "Huncho Dreams"
    • No. 100, "Lose It," feat. Lil Baby

Give It to Em, Champagne Rosé and Shine charted only on the Bubbling Under, at #10 #20 and #23

At this point, Champagne Rosé is the ninth most successful track, out of ten songs that charted, so unfortunately it doesn't look too promising, unless they decide to give it a push regardless.

I don’t think she gets asked anymore.

I suspect much of it came through Warner’s connections.

I doubt Interscope would offer her any major soundtrack song to record even if they had one.

yes, that's probably why, Warner had amazing connections and they were a brilliant promo machine for a star of her status. But I guess is she wanted to, she could squeeze in one of her songs into a movie soundtrack, if anything Interscope would say "yeah, whatever, sure"

i wonfer if she used the same director of photography of those ads, that would explain similar lensing/colors

The director of photography for the Rain video was Harris Savides, not sure if he had ever worked with Mondino (who directed the ads). But it was quite a popular style at that time in fashion/video... but it is likely that Mondino's aesthetics influenced Madonna and Mark Romanek.

And speaking of Mondino, the Human Nature video was directly inspired by his S&M photoshoot with Nadja Auermann.

I so desperately want her to go brunette again and with fresh new cut. Tired of the pre-raphaelite blonde waves she has been sporting these last few years. Her hair must be fried from all the bleaching.

doubt that there's much bleaching going on, she must have grey-ish hair by now so it's just covered with a quality color.. I know the black roots are there, but I think they are enhanced to look darker

  10. what surprises me the most with these fan artworks is that some, if not most people who submit them come up with the most un-Madonna imagery possible, it's like they either don't know her after all these years or they desperately want her to become something she's not. I mean,  for f's sake, most of the stuff here is Sarah Brightman level of tacky

  11. Of course I would love M to have a worldwide smash with a great quality pop song... but at the same time I want her to fulfill her artistic and personal vision and release the music that she believes in and that makes her happy as an artist.

That said, I really hope she doesn't release something that she thinks will primarily become a hip cool smash for the kidz, because that kind of defeats the artistic part of her persona. What I am hoping for is a cool innovative high quality pop song that's an undeniable hit and an undeniable quality track.... Like Frozen for example, it was cool and new and fresh without any artistic compromises, and it clicked with everyone because it was genuine and an undeniable smash.

Everyone is talking about how birthday hype would be a good platform to launch the single... is anyone else worried it might drown out a new single? What if it becomes a footnote at the bottom of a happy birthday article? To me it would make more sense if Madonna released slightly AFTER her birthday- when she's fresh on everyone's minds. Any thoughts?

true, but the attention span of people nowadays is much shorter, and the birthday attention won't last for more than a week or so... sure, the articles have been out for weeks now, but I doubt the readers are actively celebrating any star's bday.... I mean, even when a huge celebrity dies, the media frenzy last for a couple of weeks and then it's back to normal
