The hahaha is not about the performance of the song... it’s just what he said that if fans would hate the song if it flops cause this is something we’ve seen happening. People change their opinions because of how it performs. And that, to me, is hilarious, because if you like something, it shouldn’t matter how it commercially performs.

I don’t think it’s a made up story because Madonna has the utmost respect for Martha and she wouldn’t use her name in such a “vain” way... and the story is totally Madonna. Madonna has always been Madame X just like Jack Torrance has ALWAYS been the caretaker... ( sorry, I couldn’t resist )
