Yet in her song "Mother and Father" she sings "Yes father you know I'm not so free". I've always taken that to mean that many of the things she does she feels compelled to do for reasons even she doesn't understand. Seems like a contradiction but I guess that is just part of the mystique that is Madonna.

American Pie. Never understood all the hate for that one. I know it's almost sacreligious for me to say this as an American, but I much prefer Madonna's version than the tedious 8+ minute original from Don McLean.
