Please don't tell me this joke of a review counts for Metacritic....
Unfortunately, it does.. Ugh!

What's up with that C!
Madonna never lost touch with the culture she once created. Even the weak points in her generation-spanning career throb with a love of pop music, its mass appeal and its potential for mass transcendence — what it can do to people. The singer and performer’s latest album, Rebel Heart, is her 13th in 32 years, and in some ways it carries the most of Madonna’s personality since 2000’s Music. But like her last two albums, 2008’s Hard Candy and 2012’s MDNA, Rebel Heart leans too steeply into too many trends at once, making it a scattered affair that flashes between drudgery and brilliance.

I prefer a 68 to be honest. 69 is too close to the 70's and that drove me nuts!
-
Did you guys notice that RH went from 69 to 68 on metacritic? Ugh!
-
It seems like someone added most of the low score reviews for RH on wikipedia on purpose Look at the box on the right side
I mean, it's understandable that some have to be added, but there were actually more positive ones -telegraph, Boston Globe, NY Daily News, etc.. Where are they? They should be in that box. Well..
If someone knows how to change this, you may do so.. I just think it is unfair.

frozenlight- did you reply back, asking if it would be too much trouble for him to post a proper review, as he's done in the past? You don't get a sense of how he feels about the album, based on the feature.
Sorry, I just got back to the forum. I emailed him again kindly asking for a review. I hope he replies. Will keep you posted.

I emailed Jon Pareles from NY Times to ask if he would write a review for RH, and this is what he replied:
It ended up as a feature: -
The Muumuse review is great! More points towards metacritic?
-
I guess Metacritic will take then the AV club review as a 70 right?
-
This review is one of the most outrageous things I've ever had the displeasure of reading. Not only are there several factual errors but the author is clearly a misogynistic asshole ageist prick. I'm literally shocked that this piece of trash yellow journalism is even in the Washington Post. Appalling.
I know! Let's forget about this review and concentrate on the very good ones, which fortunately are more. Good thing this piece of crap does not count for Metacritic
-
Yay! RH is 70 on Metacritic already. I hope it stays there
-
I listened to the NYTimes podcast on RH, and John Pareles keeps praising the record. Do you think the final NYTimes verdict will come out as positive?
-
"I wish Madonna didn’t carry the burden of being 56 in a world where Britney is ancient at 33, because Madge’s new album is her best this century. "
Great! I hope it counts for metacritic

Well Focus, Stern and Spiegel are like the US time magazine. They are actually the important ones.
Also german newspaper Die Welt had a positive review about the album aswell.
It seems like the german media is in love with Madonna again. Just forget that laut review.
haha ok. Thanks for sharing!

Turkish newspaper Hurriyet gave Madonna 4/5 stars.
They say, after her worst album MDNA she just couldnt do worse and surprisingly Madonna delivers one her best album yet.
They like the album very much, though they dont go too mucu in single reviews and ask if Madonna ever will act like her age (this one is not meant negatifly actually, but he could leave this out)
http://www.hurriyet.com.tr/kelebek/keyif/28377576.asp
German Newspaper Focus:
very positiv review, they like it too and claim its after Ray of light her best.
Though they critize her lyrics e.g. „Oh my god / you're so hot“.
German musik online magazin LAUT:
they didnt like the album, gave her 2/5 stars
I am not willing to translate the review, its soo negatif, calling it a trash album and no cohesiveness and so on
http://www.laut.de/Madonna/Alben/Rebel-Heart-95835
German newspaper magazine Stern:
they like the album very much, saying : The old Madonna is finally back again
http://www.stern.de/kultur/musik/madonna-rebel-heart-die-rueckkehr-der-pop-ikone-2177713.html
From these German reviews, which is the most important one? I mean popular-wise.

very upset to learn about NME's review. it will bring the overall score in Metacritic to 65
Anyway, here I'm hoping to have at least a few other reviews in the range of 70-80. I think we can expect a good review from Billboard, and there's still one from the quietus + NY times and Boston Globe among others.
There was this guy from The Record, Jay Lustig who initially said: "with the songs from Rebel Heart she was able to create potentially successful singles despite the different styles of the tracks, thereby maintaining consistency in the record."
but not sure if this review will count for metacritic if it ever gets published.
There was also one guy from the Boston Herald who said good things when the first six songs were released, but again not sure if it counts.
-
Wow! I am surprised by drowned in sound review. I'm happy it is a positive one
-
If the guy from pma rated RH at around 58, then the overall score in metacritic will go down to about 67-68. Hopefully most of the reviews left are much better so it reaches at least 70 as the final score.
-
How many more reviews can we expect for this album? I thought around 30-35 like MDNA by the end of the release week. What do you think?
-
I think we should relax guys, MDNA was reviewed by 34 media outlets, and we only have 6 reviews counted for Rebel Heart so far. Even if this guy from prettymuchamazing gives it a bad review, we still have the chance to get more positive ones, which of course will increase the final score. Let's hope for the best to come yet.
