  1. So it seems like this song is either a love it or hate it king of thing.

I love the synth line and bitchiness in Madonna's voice, but yes, it does sound very unpolished and a little out there. Some of the lyrics definitely aren't her best, so I can see where everyone is coming from.

  2. I love MDNA and how danceable and fun it is. Some Girls and Love Spent will always be on my list of favorite and frequently played songs by her. Some MDNA tracks were run of the mill and boring, but overall, its a very fun and upbeat record.

Back when MDNA first came out, I thought it was one of her worst, but after some time, it has aged quite well and sounds fresh almost 4 years later.

  3. Being honest, I feel as though the original is getting a tad bit stale. I don't know how entertaining it would be to do that again live. Hell, she's probably getting tired of performing the original too. I agree with whoop, I'd love something very housey and upbeat, something more danceable. I don't think I'd mind a more stripped down version either with more acoustics and instruments.

  4. I don't even have all the albums yet, they're so darn expensive and I've got a million other things to buy. My most prized possessions are the Hard Candy 3 LP set, and a copy of LAP that I got brand new from a record store for $3.50, it smells like patchouli still

My recent purchase though, was Rebel Heart on vinyl. It was very expensive for the quality.

It's disappointing because I pick up beautiful releases on vinyl from small indie labels. They're on 180 gram vinyl, have download codes, glossy inserts and sound great. Plus they're usually half the price! And Interscope practically robs you blind for you what you get with Rebel Heart on vinyl. It sounds choppy, the card stock for the sleeve is cheap, and they used flimsy vinyl. I would have returned it if it wasn't Madonna tbh. Sorry for the rant, but the decline in quality of her vinyl releases makes me angry.

  5. I'm actually looking forward to some renditions of older songs. Songs that aren't fresh in my head, like RH ones. Don't get me wrong, I love Rebel Heart, and can't wait to see what she does with the songs live, but when I've heard them 234334 times, I lose a bit of interest. This being my first show, I'm excited to get a fair balance of new stuff and older stuff, which seems like what she's been hinting at. Either way, I know the show will be great no matter what material she decides to focus on.

  6. I'd love something like what she did with Live to Tell on the Confessions Tour. That was masterfully done and I still get goose bumps when I watch it.

That's what I'm looking for from this tour, something that really make us think and evokes emotion. Not something sappy. I feel like its difficult because theres a very thin line between being sappy and making us yawn, and actually making us think and feel. But I mean its Madonna, and she's yet to disappoint me with any tour performances that revolve around societal issues.

  7. Only thing I can think of is comparing the two since Marina is a HUGE M stan and just remade the Frozen video :lmao:

Which is funny because she was quoted as saying, "People think it's great to be motivated and have this drive, but I never had a true egotistical side - like, for example, Madonna. She needed to be in everyone's minds. That's not something I want. So I was reassessing what I wanted."

I don't really see that as a diss, it's kinda just catty to name drop, especially after you just ripped off her music video.

  8. Ticket Prices:

    All Floor A-F, Lower Level, Loge 11-16,22-3, Wheelchair 3,11 $ 359.00

    Lower Level 17-21, Loge 10A-10B,17A-21B,4A-4B Wheelchair 24,14 $ 174.00

    TERRACE 10C, 15-23, 4A WHEELCHAIR 21B, 17A, 20B, 18A $ 94.00

    TERRACE 10A-10B, 18B-20B (row 13-18), 4B-4C WHEELCHAIR 4A, 10B $ 44.00

Are these the same ticket prices in the rest of the US?

I'm pretty sure those are the prices for the Atlanta show, I can't speak for the other ones.

  9. I had tickets to the Atlanta show, and I fully intend on going. But the thing is, I had a free hotel night that day, so everything worked out perfectly. However, when I called Marriott to see about modifying the dates to January, they said they were booked, so now I'm having to go back, transfer the free night, and find a comparable hotel in the area. I would have liked to be able to walk to the venue, but its looking like I'm gonna have to shell out $30 extra for parking because I'll have to drive. :cries: This is my first Madonna show, and it is turning out to be an experience. Hopefully it'll all be worth it come January.

  10. The same way I don't see Body Shop or BIM being performed live, I can't see Some Girls either. I can see it as an interlude. Like justify my love. If it was an interlude with a reworked instrumental I'd be very intrigued.

  11. Don't apologise at all. I agree with what you are saying to a certain extent. I like Beyoncé but it irritates the hell out of me that the media protect her yet others are open to ridicule so I could imagine how annoying that must be for someone that dislikes her.

It's interesting, because I sometimes feel like people expect too much from these pop stars. In her personal life, Beyonce may very well consider herself a feminist and be passionate about all the issues you mentioned. However, this is how she feels the need to express herself in her work. I don't think that necessarily cancels out her passion for more serious issues. Until you know someone on a personal level, it's best not to jump to those conclusions.

Beyonce isn't a politician, she's a pop star. Yes, she is a public figure. But the reason she's a public figure is because of her music, not her status as a feminist.

Thank you both of you! Glad we can all see eye to eye in one way or another. I definitely agree with you on what you just said. Maybe I was too quick to express my feelings on her. When all is said and done, she's a person just like us, no matter how famous.

  12. Same

The post I was replying to was stating that Beyonces actions don't define feminism because all she does is sing about having sex with her husband so I was proving that feminism isn't what YOU think how a woman should behave. It's all about how she chooses to behave. If she wants to sing about having sex with her husband how is that diminishing feminism or making her a bad feminist?

It's like people who think housewives can't be feminists etc. It's all about choice.

I see a lot of validity in what you said, and I apologize if I came off somewhat ignorant. Everyone has an opinion, and at the end of the day, I do agree with you that women should be able to do what they like free of judgement. I just see sexuality further down the list of issues when it comes to equal rights. I feel like feminists that publicly advocate should focus on more than just sexuality. There's woman all over the world that don't have any rights, especially in less developed countries. They can't vote, they can't drive, they can't have jobs, they have to submit to men. To me, feminists should be giving those woman a voice when they can't use their own. I am huge on freedom for women and their choices, I just don't agree with how Beyonce voices her feminism. You don't have to share my opinion or agree with it. I apologize once again if I discounted what feminism means to you, that wasn't my intention. I also realize that I came off a bit brash in my first post, and I apologize for that also.
