  1. Yeah, the quality of Rebel Heart wasn't the best. They cheapened the physical releases so much. Especially the Super Deluxe CD, like seriously.. no liner notes. They didn't put any with the record either. I think its because the designers and people who worked on the packaging were too lazy to compile liner notes for 20+ songs.

Any who, my copy just has an interscope and live Nation logos and mentions that the copyright belongs to Boy Toy Inc.

  2. I could definitely see that argument early on in her career, when basically a whole album was singles :lmao: (5-6 songs) But she has evolved into an artist that makes cohesive albums that are listenable from start to finish. Even albums like Hard Candy, that are either loved or hated, still have a universal theme and imagery. I feel as though music listeners are evolving towards album listening anyways. Obviously the general public doesn't sit and listen to albums anymore, but they're not ignored like they used to be, when people would just purchase 2-3 songs and ignore the rest. Young people are finding out how great it is to listen to a 10-15 track album and find those hidden gems.

  3. I told myself I'm not going to watch any performance but here I am watching the full show :lmao: Thanks for posting! Maybe some weeks later down the road with more and more footage being available, we'll get even better compilations

I said the same thing! Then my show was rescheduled to January... and I said fuck it!

  4. I think it's really cool that Madonna is having more of a hand in finalizing her records... she just needs a crash course in mixing and sound, haha. Didn't she also finish the MDNA tour DVD? She just needs to realize how it's going to sound on different systems and sources.

Yeah, she did a lot of work on the MDNA tour, and I think I remember her addressing all the issues around the release and apologizing.

    from wiki:

"In an online chat with website Reddit, Madonna addressed the concerns regarding the mastering issues with the DVD and Blu-ray in Europe, saying that she was horrified about the glitches and her record label was solving it. She concluded by saying that "[I] spent 6 months editing and doing the sound mix for the DVD the last thing I want to hear is that the fans aren't getting the fruits of my labor."[42] On September 23, 2013, Interscope Records announced that they were recalling all the Blu-ray discs issued in US, after hearing continuous reports of glitches in the sound from consumers, adding that an "error in manufacturing" compromised the 5.1 audio of the discs"

  5. Yeah.. for me Hold Tight is the worst. Don't even get me started on the vinyl mastering! I don't even think it was mastered at all! Just the tracks dumped onto records.

My CD copy sounds good though, besides the issues you guys already pointed out that are apparent on all releases. I also think Madonna worked heavily on the album's production herself? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember her saying she was holed up in the studio immediately after the leaks in December, polishing the first 6 tracks for rush release. But to me, the first 6 sounds the best! Clean vocals, no distortion, and they all seamlessly flow. Maybe if she had one person working on the album continuously, the final product would have been cleaner.

I do feel like I'm nit picking because through and through it is still a very good record and I feel as though she did give it her all and worked on it as much as she possibly could given time constraints, leaks, etc.

  6. It's watchable, but certainly not the best. One thing I do love is the packaging and artwork for it. Especially those beautiful liner notes :inlove:

Aesthetically, my Blu-Ray and CD look so nice next to each other on the shelf. The Blu-Ray, like I said is watchable, but the CD is just flat and has no depth. I don't feel like I'm really there when I'm listening to it. I do have the CD ripped though because I love some of the tour renditions, and like to listen to them on the go. I'm using shitty headphones anyway, so it's not like I can tell a difference.

  7. Yes, and for a good reason. I'm 20 yo and I go to university, meaning I don't get paid enough to be as spontaneous as some of the 40yo in here (the majority) spending their money to see her like 20 times...Therefore I'll wait and see if it REALLY is worth the money. I mean it would be either way, but still...it's a hell lot of money.

I am not a big fan of Holiday, Like a Virgin and a lot of the singles released before LAP, just as you are not a fan of the new album. Sorry, but that's just not the time period I enjoy much musically or I'm simply annoyed by them bc they're overplayed and just aren't as good live as they were back in the days. I do bop to them but I really don't feel they'll get me as hyped up as NRM, Take a Bow, Vogue or some of the other 90's/00's songs could.

That AND the reason that I may not be able to afford it are what make me reconsider this decision a lot. If I don't go, I could get the DVD at least, but then again if it includes a lot of the songs I just don't enjoy it's even worth less than the concert ticket. I hope you get my point of view...of course you guys don't have to agree but one could at least expect a certain degree of respect. Especially, since we all know Madonna's fanbase consists of a people in their teens to people in their 60s.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I don't enjoy much from prior to LAP either, except the notable and bigger hits like Live To Tell, Dress You Up, LDLHA, etc. Her new stuff really revs me up though. I'm also pretty young, trying to get through school, and have so much to pay for. Sometimes I feel like the people on here would ridicule me if they knew my ticket was only $100 and not $300+!! But regardless, we all have different stuff we want to hear, and at the end of the day, Madonna isn't looking through forums or listening to fans when it comes to the set list. She's gonna do what she wants. I have confidence it will be a good show though no matter what she chooses.

  8. When's the last time she performed Dress You Up?? I feel like I've never heard it live before. I love that song, and every time I listen to LAV, I make a point of hearing that track. So it's very exciting. I don't mind a greatest hits type tour IF she actually goes back into her catalog and plays stuff that we've never heard live before. I'm thinking she could a mash up (kinda like the Super Bowl) and give us 1-2 minutes of each song, that way, we get to hear more. But that's also very hard to do without it getting messy and jumpy.

  9. I use Apple Music. Its a mess right now because it just started, but having an iPhone + Macbook, its very easy. All the music I get from Apple Music is synchronized with the music I already have and bought. If I really enjoy an album and have a need to support the artist. I'll usually buy both the vinyl and the CD. Then I'll rip the CD and have good copies of it digitally. This is what has always worked for me. A subscription service + physical music that I really enjoy.

I tried Tidal, and for me, it was way too over hyped. No better or worse than Spotify. But that's just my .02.

  10. Mine is:

    Erotica

    Ray of Light

    Confessions on a Dancefloor

    Bedtime Stories

    Rebel Heart

    Like a Prayer

    MDNA

    Hard Candy

    Like a Virgin

    True Blue

    American Life

    Like A Virgin

    Madonna

    Music

Damn that was hard! My list is probably a bit weird, but Music is my least favorite. Her older albums (pre 90s) place kinda low for me because they just seem so unfocused. More like a collection of tracks that have a similar sounds instead of a cohesive piece of work.

As she grew as an artist, her albums got better and better to me. I can't explain all my ranking, some just hit me harder than others.
