Fuck the Grammys!!! Commercial success is way more important because it means people are hungry for her music!

I don't think the original idea was a mere "grammy" but rather, an artistic masterpiece and industry respected record.  Gosh.... Madonna has been robbed of so many Grammies.... and other accolades over the years.  Paula Abdul won a crapload of Grammies the same year Like a Prayer was completely ignored.  As for me, I do not care about commercial success.  At this point, nobody will ever catch up to Madonna anyway.  I am more interested in making "her"story than commercial history.

Y'all are embarrassing. I come to a forum of an artist I love to talk about her and have fun, not to complain about someone I dislike (because, let's be right: being a 25 yo man like me who still needs to talk crap about someone I dislike instead of ignoring her is incredibly tragic).

Can we focus on the new album again? Stop being insecure pricks, Madonna is fucking coming for our cheap wigs and we need to feel the hype and anticipation for her asap. 2019 is the year of our slayage, let's get ready.

Embarrassing is having a little tantrum.  Sincerely,  The "insecure pricks"

The soundtrack is already a big seller, it’s not gonna flop after awards season (what does it mean, it was released 2 moths ago already). Actually I can see it growing after awards season like The Greatest Shwoman did.

2018 sales of Gaga's soundtrack mean nothing for 2019 numbers.  2019 sales start on January 1,  yes?

True Blue (plus WTG soundtrack)=tour, Like A Prayer (plus Im breathless)=tour and her first album=logically world tour unlikely.

My point is that an M album does not mean an immediate M tour.  "Logically"...? Lots of artists tour with one album.  For example, I saw ARIZONA recently and they only have one album.  "Logically", one could say that Bedtime Stories + Ray of Light + Music =tour.

Rebel heart was a big mess with good songs, bad mixing. Hoping Mike Dean is doing a better job this time around. I think he was rushed last time. I really miss Spike Stent. He was her best mixer.

I wonder why the insider has nothing to say about the tour... Promo or world

I thought that I read somewhere that M mixed the first six song in a panic for an imminent release.  The remainder of the album seemed better than what became known as the "Rebel Heart EP".

  6. To think... the real meltdowns haven't even happened yet.  The incessant bitching about mixing... the album artwork... charting (or not charting"... her level of commitment to promotion... single choices and art... "she's too muscular" or "she's let herself go"...  "too many sex songs" or "we miss Dita"... the "lazy" and "uninspired" videos... "she is trying too hard" or "not trying hard enough"... "pitched vocals" or "too much natural voice"... "too frivolius" or "too preachy"... "too many songs" or "not enough material"... the bonus songs are "trash" or they are "better than the official tracks"... the endless belittling of the rest of her discography... "we wanted [fill in the album title] 2.0"...  "the tour will be a disaster so I'm not going" or "she owes us a tour" when she postpones it for working on her new movie"... !@#$%  And on and on and on and on.......And we wonder why the general population does not afford Madonna the respect that she deserves when her own fanbase debates her contribution,  creativity and credibility.  We are far too critical of someone whom has given us much.  Could we just be nice for a minute and be thankful for 35 + years of amazing.

it did nothing for the song tho

Artists and their management buy hits.  Madonna did not do that.... EVER!  Living for Love was a great song, her first anthem single in awhile.  The general population also probably had no idea that Living for Love was a new song.  Record comapanies gotta pay or songs fall into the great abyss.  All artists, new and old face this issue.  It is the new way of things.  Liviving for Love was a far superior effort than many on the songs that have charted in the top ten in recent years but no bribe.

  8. I am an unapologetic MDNA stan.  The Orbit songs, in particular are my faves.  I do not get the "phoned in vocals" accusation.  She obviously did not do that.  There were more than an adequate amount of songs so all of the bitching about Superstar, Give Me All Your Luvin' or B-Day Song is completely unnecessary.  Love it all, other than the tour outfit for GMAYL.  And Nicki elevates every song that she has collaborated with M on so enough.  Everyone, young and old, collaborates do it is time to put the "no collaborations" but he fest to bed too.  The industry collaborates and Hard Candy, MDNA, and Rebel Heart all have ample solo tracks.  Gee wiz.  M has actually given us so much, yet we bitch and tear her apart.  No wonder she has waited four years.  This cannot be fun for her.

Um I don’t think the album was ever supposed to be called Candy Shop!

However it is correct that it was supposed to be called Give It To Me.

Some of you tend to post rumours  (or worse: simply untrue things) as „facts“ and it’s getting annoying.

I remember when the album was rumored to be called "Licorice".  Although a rumor.... Hard Candy and Licorice are similarly themed.  Histooricalky, Madonna rumors have oten contained elements of truth...

Please give us a quality lead single. Please.

Out of the 5 last albums, only 1 had a killer quality lead single and that was COADF with Hung Up.

I loved Living for Love as a first single.  For me, it was the first Madonna "classic" in a hot while.  While I would have preferred less altered vocals during the verses, I am still in love with the chorus.  "Living for love... living for love. Not giving up. I'm gonna carry on." .... Love's gonna lift me up."   I think fans are a little rough on the song.  Demo-gate ruined its reception.

I can’t believe all the non-album related political shit i’ve read on this forum lately. I don’t drink the Madonna kool aid but some fans here sound more like Kid Rock fans than Madonna’s.

I read attacks against the ‘alt left’ - which i’m not part of. Defending the lgbt communty in the 80’s clearly was seen as ‘alt left’. Same with other minorities like people of colour. And women’s right. Madonna did all of that. So i have no clue what some fans here are doing following her if they don’t have the same values as M.

And not everything should be decided by ‘ordinary people’. Ordinary people didn’t fight for women’s right to vote, for example. Progress and new ideas don’t come from average people. Ordinary people don’t fight for minorities.

Re: cultural appropriation, Madonna would never dress as a geisha in a video in 2019, as she did for Nothing Really Matters. That’s not considered as appropriate for a white person anymore, even a superstar. You can like it or not but that’s how we’ve evolved. Now the Rebel Heart opening outfits were quite inspired by the Japanese culture and she got no backlash, because that was more a tribute than cultural theft.

Golden rule: ask people’s opinion before deciding that something is not offensive or disrespectful to them.

P.S.: I’m white but I’m lucky to live in one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world, Toronto, Canada.

2018 VMA's proves that a 2019 Madonna is capable of showing up as a Geisha.  Just saying.

The whole notion of cultural appropriation is a joke. I think it's a loud minority that really care. But since M is actually collaborating with Portuguese and African artists. how can it be seen as "cultural appropriation"?

Exactly.  Elvis stole African American music and passed it off as a white boy creation.  Madonna has always presented diversity within her art from creation to presentation.  Collaborations does not equate to cultural appropriation.  Madonna celebrates and embraces while others mimic and steal.
