Who cares? That's child's play.
A billion people saw her every week on MTV! Different videos every hour for two decades.
Really puts all of this into perspective.

Borderline for me. I don't think it's whiny at all. Haven't you ever felt what she talks about in the song, even once?
BU's chorus annoys me and I can never really listen to the song all the way through because of it.

I've said this before about the genius of this song. Besides Charlotte Gainsbourg and Madonna's singing. The whole song is a continuous backwards loop.
Genius. Even The Beatles never did that.
I don't understand that. How do you mean?

Guns out, blowed out bottle blond flying, perfect make up and dress. Most importantly, attitude.
Those fishnets and boots though

That British reporter seems so salty about M for some reason. Probably wish it where her getting all of that attention, money and praise.

But who ISNt inspired by M running. Its an expression of sheer determination/drive and stamina and one of the few moments many could enjoy.
I always felt a little bit like that running in Nice/promenade des Anglais.
But it's so true. Who isn't inspired by M's flawlessly buff and toned arms? She makes me want to be better, that's why I love her.
Oh, and there's definitely a soft spot in my heart for J. Puta too.

I was lucky enough to snag a new, original run US CD edition in 1998
At the time I was obsessed with the Erotica opening intro, but when I got home and actually heard the album I though it sounded teeny and many of the song themes flew right over my 12yo head. I did hear it all the way through but it was kept away for many years until about 2004 when AL came around, I decided to relisten and I found the magical musical gem that it is.
Over the years and over continual listening sessions, its layers keep unraveling and it's amazing to me (at the same time, not) that Madonna produced this album at that stage in her career. She had really grown organically as an artist and was ready to explore a raw, perhaps darker, side to her persona.

It all makes so much sense. Thanks so much guys, specially you Roland
I did not know of Marlene Stewart's existence until this thread, and certainly wasn't aware that she had designed that last Holiday costume. It's quietly amazing, and I think the Blonde Ambition Tour could not have existed in any other way than it which it actually did.
Can you imagine her closing with LIB? While a great, signature M song, it doesn't quite pack the closing punch of energy Holiday leaves you with.

And my personal favorites:
Odd cyber/punk/hiphugger/hindi getup at 1998 MTV VMA's (those arms )
Also loved the minimalist perfection of her performance outfit (and them bitties a-bouncin' all 'round that stage)
And… the belle of the ball (pun intended)
Versace Atelier at the 1998 Fire & Ice Ball
Sheer perfection

Is that what I think it is? Probably Sean's fault
I became a Madonna fan due to Frozen, so of course my fave looks are from the ROL era.
Earth mamma at 1997 Versace Met Gala
The bag and shoes were exquisite
Goth pre-Rafaelite gorgeousness at 1998 Oscars (with Christopher )
Yellow Theyskens dress at 1998 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards

I'm so excited for Madonna in Asian and I'm not even anywhere near there.
-
She was married with two kids and had lots of other projects on her plate (IABWA, etc.) I feel in a way she was just getting through the motions, being so used to them after more than 20 years at the top. Like some others say, I found her relaxed and gracious but not cheeky or daring as we know M can most definitely be.
I think her Ice Queen peak was actually during Sticky & Sweet, going through the divorce and all she still came out every night looking perfectly buff and taut and pulled in the face just so, an aerodynamic pop lioness.
I'm sad I missed that tour because of being a broke college student.
-
Amazing.
Madonna getting wet on stage in a JPG costume would've been an even more memorable image of the tour, though it was probably scrapped considering the complex logistics of the show.
And I also see that either the opening look for Express Yourself or closing look for Keep It Together where supposed to have these kind of long, negligee-type drawstrings? I guess they were supposed to be made of stretch material, so M could actually dance in them.
Thanks for posting these Roland.

Does anyone know if she's staying in Chicago for tomorrow's show, or is she probably just flying in? PM me please

The production and harmonies are perfection on this track. It should've been nominated and won Record of the Year, of Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the very least.

Her art collection alone could easily reach that net worth though… and we all know M is nothing if not financially savvy.
We know she has kept that money working since she hit her very first mill.
-
She looked posivitely ravishing.
And Guy looked over it already.
She hasn't worn Chanel on the red carpet since, has she? It was a beautiful number, classic KL
-
I would definitely ride young Guy though
I'm not sure about now, seems he has let go a bit.
M has probably hit a dozen times, for stress-release purposes only of course
-
Liz is probably one of the first ever Madonna fan.
Well i say that with a grain of salt since apparently some have been following her since the Gotham days going to her gigs
She's a STAN baby… love her
WHAAAAAAT?!!!
gaultier was there? and we dont have a photo? hmmm...
Alicia Keys (so random) and him looking over it on the red carpet… that Victor/Victoria number would've been gorgeous on a more appropriate frame (woman )
I don't know why but I immediately pictured Azealia Banks killing it.
-
does anyone else find it odd she wasn't with Gaultier at all? he was there
I wondered about that too, he got stuck with awful A Keys as a date though.
They probably said hi and mingled for a bit inside, at least I hope so.

I hate Guy Ritchie the gold digger, but I have to admit M was at her most beautiful during those years, and with several quite distinct looks.
She did look radiant and beautiful most of the time, specially in that pink Versace dress at the Grammys
Was the end of this drawn-out era their joint appearance at Cannes '08 for IABWA?
Which tour woud you go to if...

I hate you.
I LOVE M at Blond Ambition, but I think now I'd much rather have attended the Drowned World Tour.
