  1. It is hard to believe that there are pretty much 55 demos/variations that were leaked for RH. This dripfeed has done my head in pretty much since before Christmas.

Normally, I would say listening to so many in-progress works would put me off anybody's new album, but it has just added another level of intrigue and genius to the Rebel Heart process. I know someone elsewhere on this forum has said that they felt that the moment has 'come and gone' for this album, but I think they are dreaming!

  2. Funnily enough, that is the same thing to a certain degree. People should be given the chance to hear new music and not have radio programmers force what they consider should be listened to and their trite opinion of what is a good song. I have seen that argument be used by the ghastly repetitive radio stations in Australia which play the same 5 or 6 songs from the same artists all the time in virtually hourly sessions. Then they say that it is their right and choice to play the songs they like and who their listeners will like. It is just another cop-out and excuse to try and explain the bias they show. They are so corrupt and have too much say and power.

Yeah, apart from listening to JJJ on the odd occassions in the car, general commercial radio in Australia is beyond appalling!! I just had a car journey from Adelaide to Melbourne and ended up listening to either MMM (for the pop 'classics') or ABC Radio National (!!!) when I needed a break from 'Rebel Heart' (LOL).

There was once a time when all you would hear from one radio station to another was P!nk, P!nk and more P!nk ("The Bogan's Pop Princess" as one of my friends tags her).

Funnily enough, I only ever hear Madonna tracks when I am shopping in Coles or Woolworths and they are playing over the p.a.

  3. I wholeheartedly agree.

The finished version has a cohesive feel that you can't get from throwing in demos and mixing them up. The problem with the demos is that they were very basic productions. They were beautiful because of their simplicity and of course everything else (lyrics, melodies, Madonna's voice etc...)

The album itself pushes the album to a concept and a fresh new sound for M.

You hit the proverbial nail on the head: the demos ARE basic productions and they ARE beautiful because of their simplicity. Very well put! :smooch:

  4. I think its time to accept I'm getting old! As much as I love this album, I'm loving Alone with you, 2 steps behind and the original RH demo more. Classic, camp and fun. Whats wrong with a bit of cheese?

Also, is it me, or does Score remind anyone of Jesus Christ Superstar?

OMG -- I was listening to 'Score' and thought the EXACT same thing. Some of the melody lines are very similar!!

  5. But also the demos feel disjointed. The finished album is so cohesive, it's almost the only way to listen to it. The demos are premature to them. It's great to have them but I don't listen to them together. I'm either listening to the demos, the album, or the demos that didn't make the final cut

I'm pretty much the same! The deluxe version of the album is what I run through from beginning to end (if I am in the mood). There's a folder with the could-have-been-contender ones, kicking off with Back That Up.
