    Best video since Bad Girl!!!!

Yes!!!  Bad Girl and Oh Father are ART just like this.  They tell a story and are so damn intricate and subtle, you catch something new and meaningful every time you watch them.

RE: GC  I was totally shaken and uncomfortable the first time I watched it and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  The reality of gun violence is grotesque and should enrage all of us so you can’t tackle a topic like this and pussyfoot around.  And she did NOT! I’m amazed, wowed and so damn proud to be her fan.

This is different, fam. People died. A lot of people.

Anyway, it’s up to fate now. Not me.

Well...yeah...that’s the point.  A lot of people are dying on a weekly basis in America because of lack of gun control.  She was compelled to say something about it and try to affect change through her art.  I can’t wait to see how the video embodies this message.

But guns also SAVE lives, including Madonna's with that stalker and of course Madonna makes sure her bodyguards are armed , it's only logical, it's mentally ill and people who don't value life who use guns to kill and explosives, knives etc

Umm not according to actual statistics, data and research on the topic.  Yes security guards and people trained in the use of fire arms sometimes can lawfully use those weapons to prevent an attack or for self defense but for the average citizen studies show you are 6 times more likely to shoot someone erroneously than to defend yourself from an intruder.  And mass shootings are only a part of the problem.  There’s also suicides, gang violence, accidental shootings, toddlers going into their mothers purse and shooting themself or their parent or sibling.  It all adds to a hundred thousand needless deaths in the US per year, yet our government does nothing to prevent them.  Common sense solutions (background checks, banning assault weapons, low capacity magazines, waiting periods etc) are out there and we know they would help because they have been very successful in countries like New Zealand, Australia and Europeans countries. But Americans can’t seem to find the political will.  Shame on us.

this was a serious commentary about a fucked up society (america) with a long history of racism that hasn't improved much in the last 30 years.

Ok point taken.  Maybe that is a bad example.  My point is even M has said there were loads of times  in her past she was provocative just from provocations sake.  This time she’s delivering a commentary on a societal issue she cares about passionately.

  5. I honestly love her for this.  She’s chosen controversy and provocation her whole career but this isn’t just putting some burning crosses on a lawn, kissing a black saint or saying fuck on Letterman a bunch times just to rile people up.  This is serious commentary about a fucked up society (America) that chooses guns over the public’s safety over and over again.  Clearly it’s an issue she cares about deeply and she’s using her platform and her art to try to affect change.  How brave and fucking badass!!  And all to a delicious pulsing disco beat! 🤗

  6. OMG this is hands down my favorite track on the album!!!! On the first listen the choir and then the disco explosion gave me goosebumps.  Then I really listened hard and I saw the 70s nods (do the hustle) the TomTom Club rap and most importantly the message.  This is a song filled with the rage and frustration so many of us are feeling about lack of gun control obviously but as Trump, climate change, homophobia, inequality, Brexit, the increase in hate and corruption and our government’s unwillingness to do anything about it.  But instead of writing a scorched earth diatribe she put her frustration into an amazing swirly dance classic.  “It’s a weird kind of energy” Indeed! And a way to dance in a brand new way.  She delivered!

  7. Guys I’m thinking it’s like Christmas Eve for us! So much excitement and anticipation for Friday and what we’re about to hear. Whereas everyone who’s already listened to the leaked tracks is sitting in a flurry of wrapping paper and presents wondering if that’s all they’re gonna get. Just think about that when your will power is weak. 😁

I listened to all released tracks. Otherwise, it’s going to wait until Friday for me. I’m very excited! I told my fiancé to let me enjoy the album and that I don’t want to hear any criticism or else lol!! I will be in total loon form Friday.

Lol same.  I’m waiting for Friday but time-goes- by- - - so slowly....

  9. Ugh. Can we just stop with the handwringing?

This announcement reminds me of when she played the Roxy and Brixton Academy when ROL came out.  She’s so comfortable in front of her gay audience.  I’m sure she’ll be fire! 🔥🔥🔥

    My setlist from heaven:

    -Vogue

    -Medellin (w/shirtless Maluma of course)

    -Deeper and Deeper

    -I Rise

-God Control (or whatever the dancy third single is)

    -Music

    -Holiday

  10. I mean...in the history of M controversies isn’t this relatively tame?  So she sang LAP a little wonky and advocated for peace?  People proclaiming her career is over are laughable.  Like this negates 35 years of top notch live performance and the greatest discography in the history of pop music?  I hardly think so.

I’m sure M wished she had sung LAP better but practically every pop vocalist has had a bad night and then got crucified for it the next day. (Mariah? whitney? Adele?) it’s just so much more vociferous exaggerated and relentless because of social media and because it’s Madonna.

I admire her bravery and uncompromising attitude.  Eternally the non-conformist.  I’m just looking forward to what comes next. Videos, Dark Ballet and the album release!!!

Seems likely with that title which sounds empowering that I Rise is the LGBT banger

Reading the tea leaves here.  M listed lots of Madame X personas.  The first one was Cha Cha Instructor (Medellín) and the last one is prostitute.  Based on the track listing could prostitute be the persona behind I Rise??  🤔🤔. Makes you think about “rising” in a totally different context doesn’t it?

I swear to God, if she put these two in her music video I’m done...

Bitter, jaded, child-hating queen is not a good look on you. Or anyone, really. If the prospect of M putting her kids in her video is enough to make you quit her you weren’t much of a fan to begin with.

I don’t think she actually will. I think they were probably just playing but if they do end up in the video I can’t for the life of me understand the meltdowns.  She’s not your bitch. Don’t lay your shit on her. Artistic freedom.

Madonna has always had something to say about pop culture and society at large. Whether it was overtly political (American Life) or an underlying message disguised as a banger (Vogue).

So this idea that she needs to stay away from “politics” is like wishing she would stay away from talking about sexuality.

We need her voice now more than we ever have. And given the nationalistic and xenophobic wave that has crashed upon the most of the Western Hemisphere, I’m interested to hear what she has to say

The fact that she’s putting drag queens in a music video to make a statement is beyond exciting and rather poignant. No one in pop music history has made bigger cultural statements than Madonna. Period.

You said it better than me. 😁

  14. I’m totally confused and perplexed by anyone who bemoans “politicaldonna”.  I mean yeah she’s written some fantastic escapist anthems (Holiday, ITG, Hung Up) but she’s literally built her entire career on politics, provocation and challenging societal norms. LAP, LAV Vogue, PDP, EY, JML, Erotica, AL all were designed to drive a conversation and challenge our assumptions about sex, gender, homosexuality, abortion, personal freedom etc.  So when people say “ I’m bored with her politics” I’m like “ what have you been listening to the last 35 years?”  Bring it on M!  We need to wake up!  Especially with the state of the world the way it is today.

  15. Are you for real? Get the fuck out of here with this ignorant destructive garbage. I've been wondering why 98% of your posts are in this forum in political threads and your only Madonna forum posts on MADONNAnation do not sound like they are coming from a fan! And I've noticed your IPs are suspicious. What are you trying to HIDE? Take your agenda elsewhere. *FLUSH*

Awesome! Thank you Hector! Now I don't have to bother responding to the nonsense.
