I still remember posting a wish setlist on this forum during the MDNAT rehearsals and suddenly it was all over the fucking net.Napoleon, when I saw that article in the Herald Sun about Madonna from yesterday's paper, I laughed with delight. It seemed to be as if it was taken directly from this section of Madonnanation ! Love to think that is true - the power this forum has. Re her tour - already the buzz is everywhere. Feels like we are now part of it all which is exciting. I often feel disappointed that I have only seen her live once considering what a major Madonna loon I am. Bring the concerts on !
-
Thats true Whoop. I need to hear his opinion of Madnna boinging up and down on the DWT to Little star.
How could anyone forget her opening the MDNA Tour with Dear Jessie dressed in her terror bride outfit from the Superstar video, though?
-
What?Saw NRM at the RIT, was not my strongest part of the show, her back and forth on that belt... sorry but NRM live is not a very powerful song. I suppose she would have to sing a few songs so that people could use the bathroom and not really miss much.

I'm back after quite a long hiatus. I have to admit that this album really left me speechless for a while. I barely knew what to say because I really loved it to bits. It has it's weak spots but even those are better than anything that came after 2005.
1. Ray of Light

3. Rebel Heart
4. American Life
5. Confessions on a Dance Floor
6. Music
7. Madonna

They need to fucking let it go already. It's not going to be a hit.
-
Why wouldn't it fit? It's the acceptance of the end of a love affair., and would lead perfectly into LFL, for instance.
Which makes it even more suitable because LFL is most likely going to close the show.

Overrated track. #justsayin
Coulda swapped this with Queen
Queen is mediocore and melodramatic #justsayin
The song that should have been replaced is the awful version of Beautiful Scars.
-
Did she even rehears Some Girls & Vogue / Physical Attraction? I thought for the most part it was just rumours.
Interesting though - in iTunes Masterpiece is tagged as track 20. I would love to see if there was an early version of the setlist.
No, she did. The guy that posted all the exclusive information about the tour beforehand confirmed it. Physical Attraction was a snippet at the end of Vogue, which got me thinking that it may have been a left-over of a full performance that was supposed to be in place of Candy Shop. Some Girls was actually supposed to be in place of Vogue. The latter was originally not part of the setlist.
From what I remember Masterpiece was considered as an interlude, while Falling Free had been placed in several positions. It was supposed to be performed after Open Your Heart as part of the Basque section and later considered as possible replacement for Like a Virgin because at some point M wasn't satisfied with that version.

I hated them elimination games!
I know...I know... But both never clicked for me and I rarely ever listen to them. Sometimes I really hate Borderline and on other days I really like it. Overall I wouldn't count it as one of my favs. It's probably my least favourite song from the first album. Promise to Try is a very sad song and I get why it gets so much love but I have never ever felt the need to listen to it. I think it's just boring and repetitive.

Borderline
Shoo-Bee-Doo
Promise to Try
Cry Baby
What Can You Lose
Did You Do It

The song of the GODS.
I have been waiting for Ms. Dita to rear her nasty-ass head once again...and finally, after all this time, bitch arrives with an anthem of LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!
For me, this is the highlight of not only the 'rebel' side, but perhaps the whole album (for me), dare I say, yes...
And not only sassy, sexy and ironic...but funky as well. (and the Vogue sample...don't even get me started........)
This is quintessential Madonna.
Considering how bland and safe and boring Pop music has become, and how safe even former Icons of sex and sleaze like Prince have become... thank GOD someone is still making sassy, fun, sexy, provocative shit like this!!!!!
Fuck. I want more. And for the people who think it's "trash", "vulgar", "not cool", etc..... I hope she does an exploration of the pussy concept album at 72 just to fuck with y'all.
Serve me Dita. Serve me.
OMG!

Thanks to Superstar and dub and all the people that finally shared the studio versions with us!
However, I think some of them have been tampered with. Candy Shop in particular. You can hear the beginning of Human Nature at the end of the track. You know the part where Candy Shop slows down and blends into the intro of Human Nature. The version from the backdrop is not the full thing. I'm sure that people are still holding onto the studio version of HUman Nature that starts right where Candy Shop stops.
So I think we're still missing that one. I also think that the version of IDGA is an early demo/mix because the actual song is extremely quiet and the guitar is way too loud. It sounds like a concept rather than the final mix (compared to TUTR for example).
Oh, and what about the studio versions/rehearsals of Some Girls and Vogue/Physical Attraction?

I think she would either have to make this a long-ass setlist alá Janet's "Rock Witchu Tour" (2 1/2 hours, 32 performances) or merge some of the older songs into medleys. She is definitely not going to pull a DWT I think. She could also shorten most of the songs.
It's long as fuck, I know...

Oh yes, definitely! So far it has not entered the "untouchable three but it might actually replace COADF after a while. I love every single track on the album and that has never been the case with any Madonna album. I can't get into Messiah, but being a 19-track album this is quite impressive.
Like a Prayer
Ray of Light
Confessions on a Dance Floor
Rebel Heart
American Life
Music
True Blue
Madonna
Bedtime Stories
Hard Candy
Erotica
MDNA
Like a Virgin
I wonder what everyone's ranking would be had the demos not leaked 3 months before the album's release.
-
Well, sorry, but Avicci demo was better than the album version. I do love the song, but it's a waste of opportunity. I know the demo wasn't original and sounds very avicci, but it was so catchy. the song is still good, the lyrics are strong, but it has lost its commercial and efficient sound.
So it's not good because she decided to not go the safe route and be commercial and rather go for something she felt was more befitting for the song and the album?
I personally never felt that Rebel Heart was a commercial song to begin with. It's very intimate and personal. It's not single material...it's too precious to be wasted as a single that would flop these days.
I find it funny how ppl complain about Madonna not being commercial-sounding but whenever she does she's being generic, boring and bandwagon-jumping.
-
I will never get over how beautiful this fucking song is. Perfection from start to finish.
-
The booklet apparently redirects you to Madonna.com for the credits.
-
This song is one of the most empowering songs on the album.
I prefer Part 2 but this version is just as good. I don't really know what to say about it but it really is an amazing song. This will be one of the best parts of the tour.
-
I'm honestly gonna kill the next person I see complaining about the album version not sounding like the Avicii Mix.
NONE of the songs on the album have those cheap recycled synths and instruments he used on all his tracks. It would have sounded completely out-of-place. In fact, if you listen to his song "Wake Me Up" you cam hear the stems he recycled for this song. M saved the album and especially this song by ripping it off of those annoying synths. The way it is now is not the best it could have been, I agree. But it was never the best song to begin with. It's cute and it has a nice melody but it's not as edgy as the rest of the album. A re-work alá Devil Pray would have been nice but I think the stripped version makes more sense paired with the retrospective aspect of the lyrics.
-
This song is probably my least-favourite song on the album. It's lyrically great and the melody is quite intriguing but it just won't click for me. I probably expected too much from it. Anyway it's a great song and it deserves it's spot on the album but I just don't like it that much.
-
Out of all the cute love songs this is the best and most interesting one she has ever done.
Comparing herself to an old car that needs to get taken care of. It's such a beautiful metaphor, especially with the other retrospective songs in mind. "I've been through so much and I've travelled for so long...who will rescue me and fix me up a bit?".
