  1. a lot of you need to let this go.

the more fuel you give to it, the more it's going to spiral.

she's been taking this kind of flak for nearly 40 years, sometimes the criticism is fair and a lot of the times it isn't (in both cases it is usually misplaced and goes too far into hating but i digress)

we have to learn as a collective not to give this stuff power and more importantly not to take it so personally.

and we also have to learn to accept critical opinions that don't think everything she does is the second coming, i happened to enjoy saturday but many didn't and providing it doesn't become a personal attack on her as a human being, that's valid.

  2. there's nothing like her.

mariah stays in her lane, janet hasn't evolved in over 15 years and sadly her other 80s peers are no longer with us.

here she is at almost 61 and 40 years into her career and making music that is fresh, new and nothing like she's ever attempted.

she's beyond an artist to me at this point, the woman is a revolution. People are gonna look back on this part of her career in 30 years time and realise how ahead of the curve she was.

  3. does anyone else feel like they should really push Medellin for eurovision? it's got the potential to be a sleeper hit and is such a grower.

it's the lead single and could do very well on a platform like eurovision.

i feel like it's gotten lost in the mix.

Exactyl!  That's why many fans consider Confessions the latest ultimate Madonna.     ....... ROF .... MUSIC ... AL .. COTF .. and then something happened.

but she's also a pop artist so i don't get the criticism of her working with popular producers? did it produce nothing but rubbish? absolutely not.

thing is, lets say she went completely experimental and left field, the vast majority would be complaining that it's not commercial enough to get a hit, she goes too commercial (MDNA) and she's desperate to be relevant and lost her touch.

some of you just cannot accept that this is what she wants to do, if it's not for you then that's totally okay and valid but i don't get the endless complaints about it. Don't get me wrong, it's fine not to like something and critique but when it becomes a thesis statement for how "something happened" to her artistic prowess, no, maybe you and madonna just drifted apart? it happens when an artist stays true to themselves and doesn't rest on the laurels that got them millions of fans.

people want madonna to do what THEY think madonna ought to be doing and we've all been around the fan block long enough to know that's a losing game so embrace it or move on.

  5. i feel like in terms of her youtube, social media and rollouts, her team is really starting to "get it"

the promotion was non existent for MDNA, the unfortunate leaks hurt rebel heart and here it's definitely third time lucky.

the singles may not smash chart records but there's a strategy, there's thought being put into this and there is classy, real time promotion being put into a project she's passionate about, i can't ask for more.

  6. a beautiful visual, truly stunning.

i don't really like to rank and pit her art against itself but i don't think i've been so visually engaged by her since American Life.

The opening speech is classic Madonna, the references to her mother. I was wondering if the scenes of her running through the forest were a call back to "Mer Girl"?

Anyways, I loved it, I feels very much like the start of a whole new chapter. For some reason Rebel Heart feels like a lifetime ago, and a completely different Madonna. This is a reinvention like she used to do them.

  7. i don't expect the single will do massive things unless there's heavy promotion but that being said the album will likely go Top 3 (and hopefully #1)

singles charting is so heavily reliant on streaming nowadays but in some ways it also makes me value it less. I remember when 4 Minutes was released and I was requesting it on radio and downloading it and those were times you felt you could make legitimate impacts on how a song did but nowadays it feels so fragmented, it is what it is and it's nothing on the quality of the music or her legacy. Very few if any artists in her position and that this stage in their career will have a singles smash.

I agree. Probably the most idiotic, disrespectful and ridiculous thing I’ve ever read.

i don't see it as disrespectful at all.

she's spoken about her experience of witnessing it and referenced it in imagery in "oh father"

i swear it's the limitations her own fans put on her and any interpretations of her art that so often bring it down.

reggaeton and bad song?  but what the fuck have you done for 4 years?  let's hope it is not true..

I was expecting Portuguese influences and we ended up with Maluma and Reggaeton🙄

We will wait to give  opinion after listening to the song .. but uf with 30 seconds people are no longer excited ... mmmm.. :nervous:

but you aren't waiting to give an opinion, you've already given one based on a snippet you haven't heard.
