  1. Such a messed up situation. She doesn't deserve this.

That being said, I can't remember exactly what the plan was regarding releasing some more tracks in Feb but I think at this stage releasing the whole thing digitally next Monday wouldn't be the worst idea. She would have the Grammys as promotion and the new video. Then the BRITs later in the month to aid sales in the uk. The promotion she had planned for March would be a good way of keeping the album alive potentially through promo?

One positive is that it's been getting a great reception so if she does push forward the release, all the current hype should translate into sales.

I hate the thought of it just being out there for a month before it's official release. Hope she's able to turn it around for her own benefit.

  2. Sublime songwriter! I really get irked when people say "oh she's a good pop songwriter" or "she can write a hook" etc. She is a fantastic writer period!

Her writing at it's best is as good as PJ' Harvey's, Bjork's, Joni and Tori's. She mostly gets overlooked in that respect however because of her pop sensibility. Sheer snobbery.

Very few artists could be as hilariously ironic as she is in "Where Life Begins" or as scarily tortured in "Mer Girl"

Madonna's intellect far surpasses any other pop star and the best way really to overcome anyone's criticisms of her being just an old floozy with no talent is to get them to just listen to the work. Most of them are too basic to get it but still.

  3. Any article that attempts to insult her with the prefix of *I was one of the people that loved her as a *insert agearrow-10x10.png* closeted boy* needs to stop. She owes you nothing and using her agearrow-10x10.png as a way to drag her down 20 years later suggests that being a fan taught you nothing either.

And this person rates Rihanna and her nudes on Instagram? The tackiest and most vulgar of any Madonna doppleganger? Okkkaaayyy...

And while we are on the topic of "acting your age' If this person was 13 when Truth or Dare came out then that would make them a 37 year oldarrow-10x10.png describing themselves as a Rihanna stan. End of rant.

  4. Her run of studio albums from 1989-1998 (Like A Prayer, Erotica, Bedtime Stories and Ray Of Light) are, in my opinion, the greatest run of consistently great music of ANY music artist male or female of modern times.

Like if you listen to those in succession, her creativity was at an unsurpassed level...just incredible stuff.

  5. What seems to be a really apparent thread running through the members of this so called "I hate Madonna" club is the overwhelming repression and undercurrent of anger, I believe it's actually getting worse as she's getting older.

It's often been said by fans (and correctly so in my personal opinion) that Madonna's fanbase or people in the public eye who are open in their admiration of her generally tend to be more open minded and culturally aware people. They get the sense of irony when, for the rest of the world, it's a joke that goes completely over their heads.

I believe the opposite is true her haters. There is an underlying bitterness in today's social climate towards an ageing diva who is making more money than she ever has done in career. Whatever strands of patriarchy that still rule the upper echelons of what constitutes our entertainment industry don't like it.

Perhaps I'm reading too much into this but it's interesting to me that at age 40 she was the most conventional she's ever been (married, living a low key life and very mellowed) and it's also the closest she's ever gotten to something of a universal respect. There will also be Madonna haters but you get what I mean...however many years on and she's in some ways edgier than she's ever been in terms of provocation and rather than salute the bravery people would prefer to take a sledgehammer to her. Her next decade might be her most interesting. I hope Madonna keeps pushing the buttons that are kept out of sight because who the hell else is going to?

  6. I actually find some of bell's work interesting and worth looking at.

Her opinions regarding Madonna however (not unlike another "socio academic" type Camille Paglia) are wide off the mark.

Her comments regarding that Spin article are actually disappointing because I would imagine a woman of her obvious intellect would be able to read between the lines but alas no, "Madonna's a white supremacist supremacist bitch with more money than me!!!111"

In some respects I can understand why men find her intimidating, but I've yet to fully comprehend the total venom a lot of women have for Madonna. I suspect it runs a lot deeper than just mere jealousy.

  7. Gosh just looking at those pictures of the kids, the scenery...everything makes me see what a fantastic life she's made for herself. So much love and beauty around her. I'm always touched that she's managed to maintain and live such a good life (I'm not even meaning the fame or money) in spite of her heartbreak early on. Such an inspiring person and if only more people could see it.

  8. I'm glad that Madonna addressed it publicly and with dignity. The press can't turn it against her, she was kind and open (and she's had no reason to be after everything) And even though sometimes it comes with human flaws, Madonna practises what she preaches and goes out there with an open and forgiving heart. We've seen it with Elton and now we see it with Gaga. The public can't be fooled forever, something genuine is what it is.

Gaga continues along the road of bitterness and petty entitlement when she claims to be against all of that. You can only preach about the virtues of being real before karma will take your deceit and shove it straight up your ass. Good luck with that, see where it gets you, I can guarantee you that in 30 years it wont be where Madonna is today.
