  1. Looking at these pics it makes you wonder why Madonna went as far as she did with the cheek implants. If Madonna was happy to put on a bit of weight instead of being rail thin they never would have happened and her face would have remained normal

where's the proof that she had actual cheek implants? a little filler goes a long way...

  2. I truly believe madonna can do it on her own, that's more than obvious but since 2003, she seems to of got into a "habbit" of collaborations....an her last 2 leads HAD other people.....

Thing is, EVEN with the backing of the hirered in "cool kids" it doesn't guarantee her a hit....

GMAYL proves this, I hope Diplo convinces her to launch the album alone, it's all about the right music this time, I don't want some pop tarts stupid vocal on her new single JUST to try and earn a 1week spot on the billboard top ten.

Get over that! Thing is, what frustrates me is that Madonna doesn't NEED radio to play her to be HEARD....she STILL has TV, every show in town will book Madonna.....so if she creates enough buzz with the lead.....the downloads will follow....regardless of American radio stations!

I believe radio will not play her, at least not at this time, without an artist who represents the format/demo audience...the last two lead singles with a duet or featuring, HELP prove this theory of mine. yes, GMAYL was a flop in many eyes, but that was due to the song itself....nicki and mia couldt even help. 4 mins was huge and shows the right song + right collaboration = a hit.

IMO I think Madonna wants a American radio hit again otherwise why would she work with whom she's working with? there are lots of EDM artists/producers out there...if that's the sound shes looking for...she went for NAMES for a reason. that's not negating your point about using TV to promote...sponsor ship deal, performances....all of it will help her chances of having her music get noticed.

it would be smart to have the lead a duet or featuring...but I just hope that the 2nd single gets some deal for attention too.

  3. Rhianna is doing her thing and she is radio gold. I know sells decent in this market but I would think she would have sold more considering her radio presence. I think that is because Rhianna is more of a singles artist. her albums are vehicles to keep the singles coming, which sell a lot on their own too. She drops albums once a year and they all seem the same to me and ive given her a second look more than twice. I don't feel a connection to most of her songs. she will surpass Mariah in the #1 department, so expect a mimi breakdown....Rhianna is cool tho, I like her and support what she does. Katy Perry seems more like an albums artist. she seems more interested in the big picture career wise. I think she has a good opportunity to re-invent herself and freshen up her sound/image the way Madonna did...although K.Perry should get a little sharper when it comes to dancing.

speaking of oddly dancing white girls, Taylor Swift is cool. I like that her diary becomes her albums...you know she has gone through whatever it is she singing about on the song. I respect that.

  4. SHE IS NOT MENOPAUSAL. LOL! She went through menopause like 5 years ago. Rosie confirmed that in an interview. She's gonna be 56. That's very, very late to still be menopausal. Those days are looong gone. No more tampons for M!

She should write a song about it....

  5. Pre-botox, I think she had skin treatments like chemical peels stretching back to the early 90s - someone posted a pic here that showed it, her looking different after a famous haggard pic.

Some said she had a facelift in the mid 90s, there's a theory in Hollywood that you should get your first facelift at age 35, when the skin is still elastic as it gives the best results. But seeing her make up free circa ROL shows she probably didn't and the first invasive treatment was likely the mid 00s - the Grammys where she presented Sting was a turning point.

It was also in a 2003 Popbitch newsletter where plastic surgeons assessed celebs and said her facelift was "subtle and of very high quality", Then again another more recent magazine had a surgeon that said she had nothing done, so who knows.

she talked about it in an article I read in 2003, promoting AL...she said at the time she hadn't done anything but wouldn't rule it out. I think it was 2004 when she finally succumbed...

  6. The biggest problem with MDNA was there was absolutely no promotion and live performances (aside from a few interviews) except for the Super Bowl, and that was just GMAYL. I think the US would still be actually be quite interested in what she's doing, and I have no doubt with a proper promotional campaign - TV appearances, live performances, radio deals, commercial tie-ins, etc - and the right single she could still have a big hit here.

yes and not all of the promotion stuffed into a two week period....the plan should extend to cover the 2nd single. she leaves that 2nd single out...Rol/Music were the last albums that she promoted and exposed multiple tracks on the album. AL promo on mtv did too but it was such a limited audience and one time thing. the Britney kiss performance was someone detached from the AL album.

whatever she does...multiple song exposure should be part of it.

  7. Adele or Taylor Swift or even Rihanna are not necessarily going to sell big. What if the public won't respond to their releases? There's so many examples in the music business of artists having massive albums (Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette or even Music by Madonna) and their next offering was really embarrassing and didn't sell much (Supposedly Former Infatuation Junkie and American Life - by the way, i love the album i 'm just reflecting on its chart performance).

Rihanna is most likely to have a massive hit but Diamonds wasn't as big as We Found Love or What's My Name.. Her latest album was so so and she might release a single that's not going to the right direction. i love Riahnna but even her reached a point in her career where nothing's for granted.

Swift might have a better chance as she's made it really big with her latest album but as someone was pointing out her sound is very teen orientated and she might want to sway a little bit into a more mature sound which is very risky.

Adele is definitely the one to watch as she sold so much with her last album breaking records and selling millions but once again what if she does an Alanis?? And if her latest single (James Bond OST - Skyfall) is any indication she's not so hugely popular as anyone might think.

Madonna could be the dark horse.. Compared to the above mentioned she doesn't seem to have a chance but she might actually have something really good and the public might warm up to her again... who knows?

Today music business is so precarious nothing's for certain.. just look at Gaga's case. She was so huge only 5 years ago now she's barely breathing..Madonna's legend nothing will change that but it would be nice to still see her inspiring people again.

I was just about to point out everything you mentioned.

I'm not so sure lightening will strike twice with Adele....Swift has proved she's a consistent seller but serious ...yawn.

  8. Jaw surgery? cheek implants? I really don't believe she'd do such invasive procedures. shes not THAT far off other than the normal aging plus a little tip and tuck...

her face is been great in some pics and not so great in others but her diet, weight, exercise, lighting, make up, Photoshop budget, HD powder, Vaseline, extra sleep, no sleep...all play a role. I personally do not think shes had more than a lift, botox and fillers...

and two recent and gorgeous pics....

  9. I don't have high hopes for the next album. It seems that she only spent a couple of weeks in the studio and she's concentrated on other things now. I don't expect a new sound or groundbreaking songs. Another MDNA with better production would be nice...

    Tiffany aka encore,

She is working in the studio A LOT ...and wtf is 'mdna with better production'?

    with love,

  10. That's a good question. We should probably have another thread about this but whatever…in the beginning I LOVED Madonna's music but didn't realize I did, if that makes any sense…when Hung Up and Sorry came out when I was like 9/10 I remember watching the videos on MTV all the time and just being obsessed. It wasn't really until 2010 when I randomly watched her 1984 MTV LAV performance that I fell in love and just had a week long binge of in depth Madonna research. Since then I've been addicted! But I guess I really worked through her career backwards since I was most familiar with 4 Minutes Madonna compared to Material Girl Madonna. However, discovering that a bunch of her old songs that I loved that I didn't realize were hers at the time, was awesome and made me love her even more!

very cool...i had somewhat similar experience...loving LAP era....Erotica was over head...and then bam Bedtime Stories...while Bedtime Stories was out they would play video retrospects on mtv or vh1....i was shocked and amazed at her back catalog of songs/videos...i always knew of MADONNA-the most famous woman on the planet-but i hadnt REALLY known her yet. I soon realized there wasnt i madonna song i didnt like...her personality really sealed the deal for me tho...shes so cute, smart as a whip and has a freakin sense of humor...

  11. I could've gone to college with her!!! I'm the same age as Lola (just graduated high school) and got into U of M but chose NYU over it! Oh well!!

you're the second poster ive seen who said they were Lola's age...I find that fascinating. I am not being sarcastic I am really interested in the younger fans perspective of her legacy and if you had the same evolution myself and other early 80's babies had....

  12. You are wrong the original release was a big success...particularly for the genre which it resurrected.

I remember it being made out to be a disappointment in the USA...not a flop but not a hit.
