  1. Let's see who are the victims of the Madonna curse so far (from 2003):

    - Christina Aguilera (she was obviously the first one)

    - Britney Spears (no need to explain)

    - Missy Elliot (I think she was much more popular and successful before collaborating with M)

    - Timbaland (failed to make a hit ever since, if i remember correctly)

    - Justin Timberlake (well, I wouldn't say he is not successful, but his music career went downhill compared to his earlier years as a solo artist)

    - Lady Gaga (she was lucky that the SNL collaboration did not harm her, but after the BTW/EY fiasco…)

    - Nicki Minaj (we'll see about that, but I think her 5 minutes of fame is coming to an end)

    - Miley Cyrus (she had a breakdown since they performed together)

    Those who survived:

    - Pharrell

    - M.I.A. (I'm not sure about that to be honest)

    - Cee Lo Green

    Pending:

    - Katy Perry

    - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

This post is not in anyway meant to be rude or disrespectful, don't misunderstand it :) However, it's funny that many artists went downhill after they collaborated with M, so whoever is next on the list, should be afraid :D I also know that she worked together with many other artists, but they were the most significant ones in the last couple of years.

I don't think that M was a kiss of death. It just shows that the peak of these artists career was collaborating with M. She tries to only attach herself with artists that are peaking. Collaborating with M is like winning the Oscars: sure you can brag about it for the rest of your life but it means you've peaked. There are always exceptions but a few years later, you're sort of over as major player.

Picture Her As This Classic Actress

    classic-woman.jpg

[Blind Gossip] Some have been taking this Academy Award-winning Actress to task for playing dress up as a favorite Classic Actress. However, while you were busy paying attention to that, another Creative Performer was actually making quiet inquiries into playing Classic Actress in a film!

Creative Performer is not unattractive, but there is just something about her that makes it difficult to picture her as the Classic Actress. Creative has worked with her own hair, makeup and wardrobe people several times over the past few years to see if they could help her physically pass for Classic. We don’t know if they have succeeded. We also don’t know if Creative really has the acting chops required to pull this off. Even if she does, it would still make for some shocking casting and lots of controversy.

    Academy Award-winning Actress: GOOP

    Classic Actress: GK

    Creative Performer: M

    Is it Madonna?

Q: Have you ever heard Madonna’s ‘Like It Or Not’ from ‘Confessions on A Dancefloor’? It was her attempt at making a Goldfrapp record. ‘Black Cherry’ to be specific.

Alison Goldfrapp : ‘Never heard it, that song. I couldn’t care less what she or whoever does. Madonna is always copying other people’s work. yuck.’

Q: Well you guys are quite good at it yourself : ‘Ooh La La’ was a T-Rex rip-off. ‘Cologne Cerrone Houdini’ could have been any Gainsbourg song on ‘Historie de Melody Nelson’. And those are just two examples.

Alison Goldfrapp : ‘We have a perfectly legitimate post-modern explanation for that. Those songs are an Hommage! We steal like magpies but we pay tribute to our heroes at any chance we get, in interviews etc.. . Everyone should know by now that Marc Bolan was my idol growing up. But we’ll never be caught following the latest trend or collaborating with the hottest DJs and producers just to get their names on our record sleeves. That’s not our style.

  4. BULLSHIT. BULL-FUCKING-SHIT to all of it.

I am so fucking SICK of this crap. And usually in the name of "social justice" or "intellectualism". Bullshit. It's becoming it's own fundamentalist religion. Church at tumblr. Reception at twitter.

"Oh, if you're not one of us, how dare you do anything positive with 'our' movement/culture/community/etc."... Jesus fucking Christ... how can anyone expect to have allies if all you do is bite the hand that feeds you?

And the Macklemore comments are old. Enough well spoken, independent thinks (away from the self-righteous 'social justice' mob) have already made good arguments against most of this shit.

This type of shit is becoming far too prevalent and it worries me... how the FUCK are we supposed to evolve if everyone is supposed to stay in their own little space dare they be "silencing the voices" of that actual community? How dare people want to express themselves and help the cause....? How dare people be inspired by other cultures and communities...?

This "taking away our voice" shit is really just a reflection of your own insecurities. Far easier to point the finger at others than actually be a REAL solution.

And god forbid people with an influential platform actually want to do something. These folks would be bitching if they didn't too!

Nothing but self-righteous bullshit. Ru was right - the end of the "movement" or "culture" will be our own doing. People blind to the bigger picture, all in the name of their own politics.

    Bravo!

  5. Virgin Tour - Detroit

Who's That Girl Tour - Tokyo

Who's That Girl Tour - Ciao Italia [amalgamation of 3 shows]

    Blond Ambition Tour - Nice

    Blond Ambition Tour - Yokohama

    Blond Ambition Tour - Barcelona

Blond Ambition Tour - Paris [as yet incomplete]

    Girlie Show - Sydney

    Girlie Show - Fukuoka

    Drowned World Tour - Detroit

    Reinvention Tour - Lisbon

Reinvention Tour - Paris [as yet complete]

    Confessions Tour - London

Sticky and Sweet Tour - Buenos Aires

MDNA Tour - Miami [and other shows]

(please feel free to correct me and I will amend the list)

    Let's tawwk.

I mean, a lot of people say 'less is more' so when it comes to the earlier shows we definitely had that and maybe to a certain extent Sticky and Sweet from the more recent tours.

Drowned World was glazed ass shit like someone had just downed 3 benzodiazepines and then went behind that camera and I hated it because it did not capture the show at all.

Reinvention - well, the footage from the documentary is filmed in a very similar fashion stylistically to what we got later for Confessions (oh, hi Jonas!) - which is basically, "Let's make Madonna look like a goddess" which is all great and all that but in certain places it feels a little bit too polished and pretty and cutesy with all the dramatic slow-motions (oh hi first segment of Confessions) and all that stuff. However, I have to say I do like it.

MDNA - wow, the 'more is more' concert film concept went to colossal heights with this and the bubble burst so spectacularly the juice was all over everyone's faces. Defective discs, bad sound.. just everything.. oh God, I'm awfully sorry for having offended thee and all that. However, in some respects, the DVD/Blu-Ray fiasco was ironically the 'perfect' ending and closure of a very tumultuous chapter in the Madonna history (namely the MDNA era).

Blond & Girlie were both the best and let's not even pretend that they weren't. Particularly Girlie I think. The way it was shot was just spectacular. Love it!
