  1. Yes! I can start topics!

So, as many of you probably do, I tend to rearrange tracks of Madonna albums to flow better in my opinion. However, there are three categories of albums I noticed:

    1. The ones that need considerable shuffling

    2. The ones in which one song sticks out and needs a new place

    3. The ones that I can't find any way to improve the sequencing.

Using these three categories, I have divided her album discography this way:

    1. Needs re-shuffling

    MDNA

    HC

    AL

    Music

    TB

    Erotica

    2. Only one song needs to be moved

    LAP

    Madonna

    BS

    3. Perfection

    ROL

    COADF

    LAV

So, these three albums have a perfect tracklist sequence in my opinion. What albums do you think flow perfectly?

Public Announcement: For those who undoubtedly will cry foul, not liking a particular album tracklist does not make one any less of a fan.

  2. ^ Katys last album PRISM has only just, crossed the 3 million worldwide sales mark, just 1 million more than MDNA

And Katy, would kill to have the record breaking, box office and attendance figures of Madonnas last tour

    Get your facts right

Madonna doesn't need Katy and to argue over that is pointless. We can all agree on that. But to say that PRISM is not a much more successful album than MDNA is a stretch. Just 1 million more than MDNA means 50% more. That's a considerable difference. Regardless, Katy only wishes she could have M's touring draw.

  3. While I was never able to get into Thief of Hearts (love the instrumentals though) and In This Life (love the lyrics)... There are stellar moments in Erotica. This was M's first album in which she took advantage of the extra time a CD offers compared to an LP. For that reason, I really think that Erotica feels too long (11 songs are at least 5 minutes long; two others are 4:50+). A few cuts would have made it tighter and perfect in my opinion. These extra tracks could have been b-sides on all of the six(!) singles that were released. About 17:30 minutes could have been shaved off the album without its integrity being compromised and the singles could have sold more because of the new material.

    1."Erotica"

    5."Where Life Begins"

2."Fever" (Album Edit) 4:27 (You Are The One as b-side)

    3."Bye Bye Baby"

4."Deeper and Deeper" (Shame as b-side)

6."Bad Girl" (Album Edit) 4:38 (Dear Father as b-side)

    7."Waiting"

    8."Thief of Hearts" - 4:51 (Fever b-side)

    9."Words"

    10."Rain"

    11."Why's It So Hard"

    12."In This Life" - 6:23 (Rain b-side)

    13."Did You Do It?" - 4:54 (Erotica b-side)

    14."Secret Garden"

Blah blah blah... Now, back to appreciating the cold, raw and unpolished sound of Erotica's early 90's house music and hip hop. "Waiting" is in my Top 10 favorite Madonna songs ever. Deeper and Deeper's bassline is up there with LAP imo. Rain is epic. Secret Garden and WLB are sonically impeccable. The title track is titillating while Words is pulsant. Great thread!

  4. Madonna stopped being artistic after American Life. She has become a submissive sell out worried about popularity and not rocking the boat. She's obsessed with making easy money and not on art anymore. Leaving Warner Bros. is the biggest mistake of her career. She has become a corporate prostitute shill for Live Nation and Guy Oseary. Will the old Madonna ever come back?

  5. I think they should have canned the whole release.

The Second Coming would have been great in 2009 2004 as a companion to The Re-Invention Tour The Immaculate Collection.

This Used To Be My Playground

    Erotica

    Deeper and Deeper

    I'll Remember

    Secret

    Take a Bow

    Human Nature

    Bedtime Story

    You'll See

    Drowned World/Substitute For Love

    Don't Cry For Me Argentina

    Frozen

    Ray of Light

    Beautiful Stranger

    American Pie

    Music

    Don't tell Me

What It Feels Like For A Girl

    Die Another Day

    Hollywood

Nobody Knows Me - a new mix

    Hung Up

    Sorry

    4 Minutes

    Celebration

    Revolver

Packaged with a new version of TIC featuring Who's That Girl. + a new version of STR featuring Bad Girl, You Must Love Me and The Power of Goodbye (minus the I Want You instrumental version).

Erotica and American Life are bookends of that phase of her career. Then the next Greatest Hits would start with Hung Up.

    - I love La Isla Bonita, but I don't ever wanna see it on tour again.

    - Till Death Do Us Part and Spanish eyes should've been singles. Cherish is a nice song, but I can see why Madonna isn't really fond of it. It has a great video but imo the songs I mentioned above could've worked as single just as weel. Dear Jessie was a shit single choice, but the song itself is LOVELY.

    :thumbsup::thumbsup:

    - Oh Father is one of the best songs of her career.

    - I actually kinda dislike Erotica, the song. I like it sometimes, but I reckon it was a shit single-choice and the song itself really isn't that good.

    :(

    - I despise Waiting. The spoken verses throw me off and the chorus is repetitive and boring. #JML2.0

    - Bad Girl and Deeper and Deeper would've been hits if SEX never happened.

    - Fever and Words are among the best songs from Erotica.

    :smug:

    - The setlist for the Girlie show is a disappointment.

    - Secret is kinda boring and generic.

    :hand:

    - One More Chance is not THAT bad. It's still not a great song, however.

    :chuckle:

    - Amazing is one of the best songs from Music and should've been released instead of WIFLFAG, because that single was bound to be a failure, anyway. Amazing was a hit waiting to happen.

    - Intervention is the best song from American Life and could've been a single.

    - I'm So Stupid is an amazing song and would've had a kick-ass performance if she hadn't decided to cut it from RIT. It could've worked well as a single, too imo.

    - The album version of Nobody Knows Me kind of sucks.

    - I want Madonna to turn brunette and never change it back, because she loks so much better with dark hair.

    - Push and Isaac are among the best songs from COADF

    :confessions:

    - ILNY is another very underrated song. It's really good.

    - 4 Minutes was the best way to start the HC era.

    - Hard Candy is a good album, but some people are acting quite delusional over it and need to stop and move onto something else.

    - Give It 2 Me is one of her all-time worst songs and the video sucks ass.

    :hand:

    - Girl Gone Wild should've been MDNA's lead single, because it's single/hit-worthy.

    - Masterpiece did not deserve to win the Golden Globe because it's not that good. Of course I love that it won, but I don't think it was deserved.

    :dramatic:

    - I don't like the MDNA Tour that much, except for it's costumes and visuals.

    :dramatic:

  9. The Material Girl has avoided Borderline and other earlier songs for which she has no songwriting rights in favor of the ones she does. That's one of my theories. I don't think she dislikes that many songs. She doesn't like MG so much because she's tired of being called that. I think TB has been ignored because of Sean. But besides those two, I can't think of other song that she may dislike. Angel, HP, KIT, NRM and others were obscured by other songs but I don't think it's because she dislikes them.

One thing is easy to ascertain, she does like the following songs a lot:

Everybody - It was never a hit technically, yet it was included in YCD, TGS and Celebration (and almost made the cut in TCT)

Burning Up - Why else would she include it on Celebration?

LIB - Hence the last few pages of discussion...

    LAP - Duh

Human Nature - Three tours while TUTBMP has never been performed live EVER.

Drowned World/SFL - Tour opener/namesake and included in GHV2 even though it was not even released in the US.

ROL - Guitardonna loves this tune

Paradise (Not For Me) - Twice included in tours and it wasn't even a single!

Candy Shop - Two tours (one opener) and she wanted it to be the albums name

  10. Should I????

    Here we go:

I'M BREATHLESS is a studio album.

AMERICAN LIFE is a great album to hispters mostly. It's just an ok album (or worse) for the majority of fans and people in general.

HARD CANDY is a very good album.

MDNA is her most inconsistent album since WTG.

ONE MORE CHANCE is not that bad.

TURN UP THE RADIO is a great song and is so very MADONNA.

    NOTHING FAILS sucks.

BEDTIME STORIES is better than EROTICA.

DROWNED WORLD TOUR is not a masterpiece. It's very good but not a masterpiece.

    There... I said it.

  11. Let's see who are the victims of the Madonna curse so far (from 2003):

    - Christina Aguilera (she was obviously the first one)

    - Britney Spears (no need to explain)

    - Missy Elliot (I think she was much more popular and successful before collaborating with M)

    - Timbaland (failed to make a hit ever since, if i remember correctly)

    - Justin Timberlake (well, I wouldn't say he is not successful, but his music career went downhill compared to his earlier years as a solo artist)

    - Lady Gaga (she was lucky that the SNL collaboration did not harm her, but after the BTW/EY fiasco…)

    - Nicki Minaj (we'll see about that, but I think her 5 minutes of fame is coming to an end)

    - Miley Cyrus (she had a breakdown since they performed together)

    Those who survived:

    - Pharrell

    - M.I.A. (I'm not sure about that to be honest)

    - Cee Lo Green

    Pending:

    - Katy Perry

    - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

This post is not in anyway meant to be rude or disrespectful, don't misunderstand it :) However, it's funny that many artists went downhill after they collaborated with M, so whoever is next on the list, should be afraid :D I also know that she worked together with many other artists, but they were the most significant ones in the last couple of years.

I don't think that M was a kiss of death. It just shows that the peak of these artists career was collaborating with M. She tries to only attach herself with artists that are peaking. Collaborating with M is like winning the Oscars: sure you can brag about it for the rest of your life but it means you've peaked. There are always exceptions but a few years later, you're sort of over as major player.
