  1. I really like the lyrics. It's so Madonna.

    Ah Ah

    Ah Ah Ah

    You play a dangerous game

    Slicky (?) like a shadow on a sunny da-ay.

You’ve got a secret to keep

Behind locked doors and between the sheets

    Curtains up

    Time to start the show

Boy, you look so ugly when the truth unfolds

Your soul is black and your heart is made of coal

Bullets in the barrel and you’re ready to go

    Oh woah woah ah ah

    Woah woah ah ah

Got the devil in my bed tonight (bed tonight)

    You keep a vile collection

a lock of hair with your list of names

    each time's a new connection

they love your touch and you love their pain

Here's the link for the earlier thread I wasn't aware of http://forums.madonnanation.com/index.php?showtopic=46973

This is a demo. Whoever sang this is totally copying Madonna. Why would anyone do that? It could be a demo sent to her. I'm not saying it is going to be part of any new album but this too much like Madonna in every sense. Definitely not a single but an album track kind of song.

  2. It's like the follow up to Beautiful Killer. The lyrics are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Madonna. It sounds a lot like her! I couldn't find any songs with these lyrics on Google. I like this song a lot (not single material btw) even if it's not her. But I think it may be. Whoever is singing this has stolen her enunciation and phrasing.

  3. Oh grow the fuck up with your revisionist crap. You left after having a hissy-fit when other members started calling you a MALE PROSTITUTE. Nothing at all to do with me.

Everyone who limped over here from Madonnatribe got the same treatment when their opening posts consisted of the same level of "moan moan moan".

You need to learn to make your point, however negative, and then understand that not everyone is going to wank over it in agreement, cos this is like...a fan site and not ur old home of Madonnatribe.

  4. Are you guys STILL blaming Guy for something that Madonna herself said was her idea.

So Madonna should pimp herself on every TV show, chat show etc to sell a few more thousand copies. Forget about her children, forget about a tour just so she can do a few letterman interviews.

Last time we got the most amazing tour, the Super Bowl, and a bloody movie, m still had one of the best selling albums of that year. What more do fans want?

It's 2014! No one promotes albums like they did 16 years ago. No one. Get over it.

With all these somewhat positive thoughts on this thread, I wonder if one day people will start liking Hey You because it's so bad. You know, the hipster mentality of liking what everyone else dislikes. It could be become a cult song!

I personally think Hey Poo is her "Swept Away as a song." It's awful.

    92283-phil-dunphy-shrug-gif-WHAT-wtf-X2G

But there are those who love that movie...

The litmus test for me is to ask whether I'd still like the song if it was recorded by another artist and Hey Goo fails it miserably.

  6. Guy Oseary knows exactly what he's doing, which is why he's working for Madonna and U2. He knows the business inside and out, and fully respects them as artists, as well as their artistic legacies. Big record sales are great, but both U2 and Madonna are well past their sales peaks. Artistically Madonna can soar as high as she wants too, but she will never sell ROL numbers for an album again. The general audience for pop music, and dance in particular, is young, and they don't care about her like that.

Madonna is always ahead of the curve, and she figured that out years ago, which is why she signed with Live Nation in the first place.

Touring is where the real money in music is made, and she pretty much slays everyone. Every pop star on the planet would trade places with her in a minute. She is where they all want to be. I'm sure Madonna would love to get another U.S number one, but it's not an obsession of hers, the way it is for so many of her forum managers. The fact that this woman still gets number one albums in multiple countries, is absolutely astounding. With the right mix of radio spins, and payola, I have no doubt she can, and will get that number one single...at some point.

I can't wait to see what Guy has in store for her, because the meltdowns will be glorious. ;)

Did all the crap and even desperate attempts at relevancy done by Michael Jackson, Elton John or Elvis damage their legacy?? No. You can't take away a body of work like that. They all could be selling jewelry at QVC right now and it would not take away from their "legacy." Aretha has been obese and out of the charts since last millennium and she's still has her legacy intact.

Giving away this album was G-E-N-I-U-S. Forget Beyawnce. She probably made less money than what U2 made before the album was even released AND without having to film a single music video. But the genius part is that, because there are rabid U2 fans out there who must have a physical copy of an album, they are still going to sell a considerable amount of units: bonus money! They had an advance to make the album and got paid the equivalent of selling millions before the album was even available. They don't care if it goes to #1 because it's ineligible anyway. So no one can say "oh, it flopped" or that its sales were underwhelming. Plus, everyone is suddenly talking about U2 again, when was the last time that happened??

The tour is going to sell out and they are going to make more money than ever.

Guy O is the ultimate Material Boy.

  7. In the late 1980s, The Beatles released a compilation album, titled Past Masters, which features all offically released Beatles songs that aren't available on any of the band's studio albums. How would you feel about Madonna releasing a similar compilation?

If it were relased today, the following tracks would be included (I've intentionally excluded songs from I'm Breathless and Evita, since Madonna sang most or all songs included on those albums)

    1. Crazy for You
    2. Into the Groove
    3. Gambler
    4. Ain't No Big Deal
    5. Who's That Girl
    6. Causing a Commotion
    7. The Look of Love
    8. Can't Stop
    9. Spotlight
    10. Santa Baby
    11. I Surrender Dear (duet with Jennifer Grey)
    12. Supernatural
    13. Justify My Love
    14. Rescue Me
    15. This Used to Be My Playground
    16. I'll Remember
    17. Goodbye to Innocence
    18. Let Down Your Guard (rough mix edit)
    19. Freedom
    20. Guilty by Association (duet with Joe Henry)
    21. I Want You (feat. Massive Attack)
    22. You'll See
    23. One More Chance
    24. Veràs
    25. Has to Be
    26. Bittersweet
    27. Be Careful (Cuidado Con Mi Corazon) (duet with Ricky Martin)
    28. Beautiful Stranger
    29. American Pie
    30. Time Stood Still
    31. Cyber-Raga
    32. Lo que siente la mujer
    33. Me Against the Music (Britney Spears feat. Madonna)
    34. Fighting Spirit
    35. Super Pop
    36. History
    37. Hey You
    38. Ring My Bell
    39. Celebration
    40. Revolver (feat. Lil Wayne)
    41. It's So Cool
    42. Broken

I love the idea but I would trim it a bit. I would have a double CD with the following tracklists:

    • 1. Crazy for You
    • 2. The Look of Love
    • 3. Supernatural
    • 4. This Used to Be My Playground
    • 5. I'll Remember
    • 6. Goodbye to Innocence
    • 7. Let Down Your Guard (rough mix edit)
    • 8. Freedom
    • 9. Guilty by Association (duet with Joe Henry)
    • 10. I Want You (feat. Massive Attack)
    • 11. You'll See
    • 12. One More Chance
    • 13. Love Don't Live Here Anymore (Remix)
    • 14. Has to Be
    • 15. Be Careful (Cuidado Con Mi Corazon) (duet with Ricky Martin)
    • 16. Time Stood Still
    • 1.Gambler
    • 2. Ain't No Big Deal
    • 3. Causing a Commotion
    • 4. Can't Stop
    • 5. Spotlight
    • 6. Rescue Me
    • 6. Goodbye to Innocence
    • 7. Don't Cry For Me Argentina (Miami Mix)
    • 9. American Pie
    • 10. Cyber-Raga
    • 11. Me Against The Music (with Britney Spears)
    • 12. Fighting Spirit
    • 13. Super Pop
    • 14. History
    • 15. Ring My Bell
    • 16. It's So Cool
    • 17. Broken

I omitted all tracks that were previously included in any of her previous compilations and some that I thought didn't flow with the rest.

  8. Okay, yes this has been discussed before, but again it's inaccurate to say AL has no Top 20 hit on it. It does. It's not even like an "American Pie" situation where it was on some releases of Music, but not others. "Die Another Day" is track 10 on every release of AL. And when it was released as a single in the fall for the Bond movie, it was noted on stickers that the full version was available on the official soundtrack of the movie AND was from Madonna's forthcoming studio album.

It's revisionist to say it wasn't "recorded for" her album. Of course she wrote it FOR the Bond movie, but it was always planned to be included on her album (before it was even released).

It's like "Vogue" -- that was not recorded FOR "I'm Breathless," -- it was intended to be the B-side for the "Keep It Together" single -- but it is ON the record. (And yes, some fans don't consider that a proper studio album, but ... it's still a collection of songs Madonna recorded and released.)

Whatever. This isn't the point of this thread, but then ... these threads are so full of off-topic and semi-off-topic stuff, what's one more post, right?

[i miss having the first post of the thread containing what we know so far -- like producers and writers we know she's been in the studio with, etc.]

    receipts.gif

I will start by apologizing for continuing the off-topic posts but I'm a nitpicker. The sticker on DAD never stated that it was from the forthcoming Madonna album. It clearly stated it was from the motion picture.

    MADONNA_die_another.jpg

The sticker only promoted the album. LTT and Vogue on the other hand have clearly stated respectively on the back of the vinyl and on the CD itself that they are from the forthcoming Madonna album.

    madonna-live-tell-96.jpg

    madonna-vogue-picture-disc-b.jpg

So, one can understand why DAD is not considered really part of the album.

  9. "Erotica" was considered a huge disappointment sales-wise, but it got mostly positive reviews. "American Life" is arguably the first (only?) album of her career that garnered neither enormous sales nor major critical acclaim.

AL is her only album that truly flopped. What else would drive her to do that Gap thing and that Britney thing? Erotica, HC and MDNA sold less than the big sellers of their times but not that much. AL is the only album without a Top 20 hit in the US (she barely made the Top 40) in her career so far (not counting YCD, GHV2, R&R and Celebration which were compilations). Erotica was no AL, it was a minor hit album.

  10. 1. ROL

    2. Madonna

    3. LAP

    4. BS

    5. COADF

    6. IB :ass:

    7. Erotica

    8. HC

    9. Music

    10. TB

    11. LAV

    12. MDNA

    13. AL

These are the 5 albums I would pick to introduce anyone to Madonna.

M is the best of the three early years albums.

LAP should be in everybody's Top 5 and it is her masterpiece (though not quite my favorite)

BS is sexy and moody like Erotica but warmer and more urban like HC. It's the happy medium between the two.

ROL is better than her other two Kabbalah albums, AL and Music.

COADF is better and more cohesive than MDNA, another EDM-ish album.

  11. Well, MDNA had

    Co-writers:

    Jenson Vaughan

    Benny Benassi (also co-producer)

    Alle Benassi (also co-producer)

    William Orbit (also co-producer)

    Priscilla Renea

    Keith Harris

    Jean-Baptiste

    Mika

    Stephen Kozmeniuk

    Demo Casanova

    Martin Solveig (also co-producer)

    Michael Tordjman

    Jade Williams

    Nicki Minaj

    M.I.A.

    Klas Åhlund (also co-producer)

    Indigo Muanza (also co-producer)

    Julien Jabre

    Alain Whyte

    Ryan Buendia

    Michael McHenry

    Julie Frost

    Jimmy Harry

    Laurie Mayer

    Joe Henry

15 of the songwriters listed above were involved in just one song each.

    Other co-producers:

    The Demolition Crew

    Michael Malih

Wow. I didn't know it had that many writers. Even if we discount the 15 that were involved with only one song, we'd still have ten writers!

In contrast, here are the additional writers in these albums...

    Madonna:

    Reggie Lucas

Curtis Hudson and Lisa Stevens (for Holiday only)

    Like a Prayer:

    Patrick Leonard

    Stephen Bray

    Prince (Love Song only)

    Erotica:

    Shep Pettibone

    Anthony Shimkin

    Andree Betts

John Davenport and Eddie Cooley (don't really count since Fever is a cover)

    American Life:

    Mirwais

    Stuart Price (X-Static Proces only)

Guy Sigsworth and Jem (Nothing Fails only)

    Monte Pittman (Easy Ride only)

    True Blue:

    Patrick Leonard

    Stephen Bray

Brian Elliott (for Papa Don't Preach only)

Gardner Cole and Peter Rafelson (for Open Your Heart only)

Bruce Gaitsch (for La Isla Bonita only)

  12. agreed about ROL, LAP and Confessions. I would also add AL, Erotica (my edition doesn't have Did You Crap on the Carpet?) and Madonna to that list. On the other side of the spectrum, my MDNA and HC have been considerably reshuffled. :)

LAP, Bedtime Stories and Madonna have only one song that I would have moved but overall I agree that they flow (almost) perfectly too.
