Where is it supposed to go?

Right? Like it’s not an average pop song! Jesus. It’s obviously based on a chanting melody of the Baianas/Batukadeiras, which one needs to know about or be interested in before they can appreciate their style of singing. This is one of those songs by Madonna that is simply not for everyone.

I love the song, but if she's indeed performing this year, I think that Batuka won't be an option (maybe as part of a MX mash-up, idk 🤔).

Batuka is DEFINITELY an option! Madonna loves “tribal” beats and has done similar performances in the past, with the gypsies during Sticky end Sweet and a remix of Masterpiece during MDNA your.

  3. Yes, the Baianas in Brazil sing and dance to this kind of beat, and so to me, this song is more spiritual than anything. This kind of beat is considered sacred in candomblé and one must get into a trance listening to music like that. Better yet, get into movements along with getting into the deep trance.

This song is the best gift Madonna ever gave me! If someone would have told me she’d sing and dance to this kind of beat 3 years ago, I wouldn’t have believed them, but would have really hoped it was true! And now I don’t need to dream or hope! Like she actually did it!! It’s mind blowing!!

From Shanti Ashtangi to Batuka, Madonna is the most experimental, earthy, global pop star I’ve ever been blessed to be a fan of!

If anything, Portuguese sounds more like Spanish than Italian.

It sure does, but the way she’s pronouncing her Portuguese in Killers sounds different. Like in Brazilian Portuguese the O’s sound more like Ooh’s. Like when she say “o caminho é solitário” the correct  pronunciation would sound like: “ooh caminh-ooh é solitári-ooh”. I wonder if in Portugal it’s different. Cuz that really through me off. I don’t speak Italian, but it sounded very Italian to me 😂

Great list. I like it. ❌

Unfortunately Madonna doesn't sing in Italian on Madame X, although she says quite often "bella ciao". 🔥

Omg you’re right! That part in Killers is also in Portuguese! I thought it was in Italian since the languages are similar and some of the instruments used in the song sound Italian.

I got really excited after the incredible BMA performance and - as expected - was totally in shock after Eurovision (still everyone who I know here in Germany talks and asks me about my opinion on Eurovison. IMO this shows how big ESC is here and unfortunately how negative it turned for the MX campagne), Pride was fantastic but too small.  What is still open...VMA? I personally think that even if her team has some surprises, nothing  - unless there is something really special - will be as big as BMA or Eurovison. For sure there will be some promo, but also nothing big. I really hope they don't let MX die because the album deserves being promoted. The question is if Madonna is interested in doing promo. I wouldn't be surprised if she and her team rely on the idea that the residencies will generate interest on the tour, so to say the tour will auto promote itself. I really hope there is still more good promo and surprises to keep MX alive. As much as I (as a fan) love getting new videos from M and feel spoiled this era with so many fantastic videos, this is not a promo strategy that will reach broader audiences, releasing videos is not enough to promote MX

I agree with all that you said. If us fans can understand the issues and come up with actual strategies, I hope her new team is not going to disappoint. Next steps are crucial! Let’s keep an eye on it and hopefully there will be some news soon.

I just feel there is a big documentary on the way... Something like In Bed with Madonna or I´m Going To tell you a Secret. IGTTYAS came circa 15 years after IBWM, so a new documetary can come also 15 after the last one. They shoot so many professional videos since she came to Portugal! And I really don´t believe it is just for instagram promo. It can be a documentary similar to Lady´s Gaga one for Netflix, it also had a huge impact. So this could be the right promo. A documentary that shows her coming to Portugal, process of recording an album and can end with the beginning of the tour.

Yes, she has so much to say, so why not convey her important message full on doing a real documentary, not what we got from amazon prime. The amazon prime documentary felt like a very long trailer. I have absolutely no doubt that Madonna has enough materiel for a lengthy movie. Talk more about about the world, love, guns, spirituality, whatever! A documentary that GP could watch and learn something from. It would be amazing.

But what could she do in terms of promotion that would expose her to a broader audience? Which talk shows? Is there anything confirmed? I doubt it a little bit, as she has done no performances on TV this time. I don't think it will now suddenly change. In this sense I also believe the (big) promotion is done. BMA, Eurovision and Pride were the big exposure channels for her and unless I am mistaken there is nothing like these till the tour starts.

BMA was amazing, but it didn’t grasp general public with the song. Eurovision was a flop. Pride was great but a bit too serious. So maybe her management will push her to do more promo afterall. Bitch Im Madonna saved Rebel Heart era, so maybe she should perform Faz Gostoso in Brazil or something.

I honestly doubt the big promo is over. Just because we are not aware of what is yet to come, doesn’t mean there’s nothing being planned. Like I said earlier, M is experimenting with this new style of touring. I really think that a wider selection of cities is yet to be added to Madame X tour. She’ll have to do some promos here and there when that time comes.

    Oh, madonnaman. 😁

It's tough to choose five, because it's a strong work, but as of right now, in tracklist order (though GC is my top overall):

    G-d Control

    Dark Ballet

    Come Alive

    Extreme Occident

    Looking For Mercy

I’m pretty sure you’re allowed to spell God as intended by Madonna in this case 😉

  10. 1. Batuka

Love the Baianas and candomblé beats. Love the lyrics. You really gotta try and get into a spiritual, trance type of dancing listening to this song to fully grasp the magic of it.

    2. Killers Who Are Partying

Love the Italian vibes and her singing in Italian. Beautiful!

    3. Come Alive

Please stop comparing it to body shop! Love the lyrics, the African instruments, the boys’ choir! Gives me chills.

    4. Extreme Occident

Love the lyrics, again, and production! Her voice is incredible! Love the Indian beats and her singing in Portuguese!

    5. Looking For Mercy

I relate to this song 100%! But her voice is just the best she ever sounded! Great production and beautiful melody.

    —————————————————

After these obvious top 5 for me, I also really like:

    1. Medellín

chill, laid back, and upbeat at the same time. M’s voice is angelic!

    2. Future

Really got into this song from first listen. Love the lyrics, reggae beats and the trumpets! M’s voice is trippy af!

    3. Crave

Beautiful vocals from both Madonna and Swae Lee. Beautiful melody. Beautiful production.

    4. Faz Gostoso

I Love Brazil, so hearing Madonna sing in Brazilian Portuguese is like a dream come true! This song takes me right back to Rio and I’m obsessed with the best!

    5. I Don’t Search I Find

    Classic M! Incredible vocals

    —————————————————

Crazy and Bitch I’m Loca are fun songs to listen to, as in, I won’t skip them, but they’re not my favorite.

I’m also not a fan of Dark Ballet because it’s not really a song in my opinion, more like an intro to some kind of theatrical skit. Not a fan of God Control either, just because I’m not really into 70s disco sound, also although I’m against guns, lyrically I don’t really relate to the song. I appreciate it tho and totally get why ppl love it.

The only song I don’t like is “I Rise” and mainly it’s because of that obnoxious intro! I hate that dumb bitch.

    Overall, amazing album!

5 out of 5 rating from me!

I can listen to it from the beginning to the end without skipping a song! Very consistent, global and diverse!

So now the pride performance is over, I assume the promo campaign for the album is also over other than a potential video for Faz Gostoso? Again I assume she will now be concentrating on the tour rehearsals which means the era in terms of the public / TV performances is also over.

    No.

We still have Batuka video yet to be released and I’m pretty sure she’ll do more TV appearance/performances later on to advertise a second leg of her tour. I doubt she’ll only do small theaters in select cities. Madame X is here to stay for a long time.

I think it’s important to listen to those who have directly been impacted by gun violence (just like we should all listen to those impacted by racism, sexual assault, transphobia, homophobia) but it does not seem she did her research before tweeting. There’s a clear disclaimer at the beginning of the video, links to organizations for gun reform, and a call for action with tweets, Instagram, and basically a press release.
    That’s my 2 cents.

She’s not the only one but makes it out to be like she is! It’s like the world of gun issue revolves around her. She is not the fucking spokesperson of gun violence! With or without her, Madonna has the right to speak! I think the bitch is pressed that her voice isn’t as loud as Madonna’s!

  13. Omg this Emma is a cunt!! She’s obviously letting 15 seconds of fame get to her head! And now she wants money! Sorry bitch, but if the entire amount made from the video went to Madonna, it’s because Madonna worked on it and this is her art and she is rightfully entitled to her art’s profits!! Also, I know many will disagree with me but this isn’t about Emma!! The victims are the ones who got shot and killed! We cried our hearts out for them! Not for this apportinist scammer of a con!!

Really? Gun Control  ( the legislation desired ) is not about BAN guns to everyone is about having the correct law and process in places so the correct and trained people are the only one with guns ..    her guards will always going to be armed !! they are profesionals and  that's their work. .....   and so and so and so ..

semi automatic guns dont belong to ordinary people .... That's is part of the TALK that the USA Congress have to TALK and WALK

everybody is entittle to their opinion but please ... read and get informed  before write these kind of comments !

You can’t fix stupid. Glad he was flushed. Apperantly some people don’t understand the phrase “gun control”, even after Madonna has explained it many times, such as the fact that it’s unthincable that anyone over 18 can just walk in Walmart and walk out with a fully loaded gun!

Madame X is writing about a very important issue that happens every day. The first shooting has happened that day (TV in Discodonna's room is broadcasting it) and Madame X is writing about the issue. Hours later happens the club shooting. No one is safe. Discodonna didn't pay attention and ends up dead.

This!! That’s also the message I got from the video. Discodonna thought it wouldn’t happen to her, and it did. No one is safe. Doesn’t mean we need to live in fear but we do need to wake up about the issue of guns!

mariah has never been a political artist. why the constant need to compare m to other female artists, especially in this thread?

Because what’s the point of being one of the most selling artist of all time if you’re not gonna use your fame to make a freaking change in this world for the better?? Madonna always viewed artists as activists! She has said this many times that art and activism go hand in hand. You can’t be an artist if you’re not using your voice to speak out and make a change!

Also, Mooriah’s fans are some of the worst people after little monsters when it comes to the extent they criticize Madonna!

So yeah!! I said what I said. Thank you!
